1. Location & Access – Located near centre, very close to transportation which meant we could get to the centre and sights easily! Definitely rent a bike near the area and you won’t regret it. It’s located in a quiet, traditional area, which adds on to the Japanese culture experience! 2. First Impressions The staff were lovely from luggage drop off, and allowed us to check-in as soon as the property was ready. Everything was clean and well organised. 3. Design & Comfort – The interior layout was AMAZING. It looked very woody, with plenty of space and photo spots. The sliding doors made access to areas very easy, but you are a wheelchair user, you won’t be able to get around easily as there are elevated floors and stairs to get to the bedrooms and upper living area (there is a living area downstairs) 4. Amenities & Practicality – Wifi was strong and worked perfectly fine among 4 people, the bath had heated floors and plenty lighting along with a mini garden, there were plenty towels, tissues, and PJs. The whole property had ACs and dehumidifier — the settings were in japanese but nothing a quick translation app won’t fix! 5. Value for Money – I definitely think the property is worth the money! They definitely put thought into matching the price to the amenities. 6. Final Thoughts / Recommendation – Book this for your next Kyoto trip!

This beautiful townhouse is located on a quiet street with close access to restaurants, shops, and a park nearby. This was my second time visiting Japan, but this time, I took my parents with me, and this was definitely more convenient for my dad, who is mildly frail now, so having direct access to the street was nice. The amenities in the kitchen, bathroom, etc., were amazing; they even provided additional items like nightwear, which was comfortable to wear, and the private onsen was a great feature. The house is well-equipped and should have most things that you will need to ensure your stay is comfortable, from a well-equipped kitchen to hairdryers, towels, a couple of adapters, and information folders about the house and recommendations of where to eat go and order from etc.

Living in a Machiya means likely sleeping on a futon bed -for me, I did have a few uncomfortable nights of sleep, but they do have extra pillows and quilt covers, which may help improve your sleep quality. The main room had two normal single beds though, which were comfortable.

Overal the house is super nice, a lot of equipments, we were thrilled! The system to enter the house is very smart. We were close to touristic areas. We had a lovely stay in Kyoto :) Thank you!

The reception to get the keys is near the railway station around 15 min from the house so it is a bit unconvenient, would have been better to have someone on site or to have the key left somewhere. Also we asked to the rceeption to keep our lugagges 2h after check out because we booked a geisha show but it was a big probleme and we had to argeu & negotiatet 30 min to finally agreed on it, this should be mandatory to offer this kind of service.

Beautiful property. Was very comfortable for our family of four. Exceptionally clean with well thought out decor. The shower/tub area were exceptional. Truly stunning. Would absolutely stay here again! Thank you! Close to the subway station was a plus too.

It was difficult to find with the instructions given by hotel- especially at night. It was incredibly hot & even with instructions, it was difficult to turn down so sleep was a little uncomfortable

We were able to leave our luggage while we waited for the apartment to be ready.

It was easy to collect the keys but you had to go to another location. There was no flexibility on the checkin time, only after 4:00.

Genuinely cozy. Very large space compared to typical apartments or hotels in Japan.

The check-in not being directly at the property. Climate could have been preset before entry. It was very cold on arrival.

A fantastic way to stay in Kyoto. Living in a small superbly renovated classic house in a regular neighborhood felt very good. Especially if you are a group or family of 3 or more, this is so much more convenient than staying in a hotel. The location is within walking distance close to many exciting sights, neighborhood shops, restaurants, and the like. We also used the kitchen and the washing facilities. Excellent instructions on how to use all the amenities.
