Hotel Kado is a lovely smaller hotel with an option of larger room for families. Our kids are in their twenties and there was plenty of room for us to sleep, move around, make & eat simple meals, as well as room for suitcases! It was a great experience for them to use the futons on the tatami mat, along with two larger beds for those not as adventurous! :) It is in an excellent location, steps from the subway and almost across the street from the park! An added perk is that it’s across the street from a Family Mart & McDonald’s for quick convenience. Oh, check out the rooftop patio for a great place to sit & escape on property. The surrounding area felt safe and I would definitely return.

This property was comfortable and quiet and we all slept very well. Location was very convenient for the subway and buses, however a lot of the local restaurants were dinner service started at 6 which was tricky traveling with young kids who want to eat early.

The hotel doesn’t take payment for bag transfers, so our luggage was not delivered at the other end (the following day) as we had to be there to pay for it and didn’t find out about this until we arrived at the next hotel late at night after a day at Disneyland. Should be arriving today. This might be common but our first hotel took payment so this wasn’t a concern. Also there are no places to hang bath towels. Just a note for the hotel to do something about that.

We booked a premier suite for a family of 2A and 3C. The room was excellent, very spacious, with a well-designed layout. The location was perfect as it was just steps away from a train station. It was also super near to the Imperial Palace which was perfect for a morning stroll. The washing machine & dryer in the room was icing on the cake as we managed to wash our clothes in the comfort of our room.

The pillows were too hard especially for my younger kids. I asked the staff if they have other softer ones but nothing was available. Will be good to just have some softer pillows as options.

Very comfortable stay, right on top of Marutamachi station and right next to the Kyoto Gyoen National Garden. It is on the quieter and more peaceful side. Had everything we needed, like washing machine, and we could borrow the iron from the front desk. Family Mart and Sukiya are also opposite the hotel.

The steam room is closed and some of the hidden areas could be cleaner (mold on the curtains and the bidet wand)

Beautifully designed room with lovely decorative details, comfortable beds, spacious sitting area, small kitchenette with cooktop, refrigerator and sink. We booked the family room that offered two double beds and a huge tatami mat area where our adult children slept on futons. Mattresses and futons are firm (as is usual in Japan). Plenty of pillows and nice warm comforters provided. Very centrally located in Kyoto near several convenience stores within less than 3 minutes walk. Quiet. Friendly front desk staff.

We only realized on our last day that the hotel has a beautiful spa with special sauna service on the 2nd floor. Wish we could have used it!

Location is great. Right on top of the Kyoto Marutamachi station with good connectivity with buses to the city's top attractions. Plenty of eating options within a 10 minute walk radius. So close to Family Mart, 7-11 and McDonald's. We booked 2 rooms for a party of 6, a standard twin room and a suite for 4 and my teenage girls loved it. The washing machine and dryer, which were both in the standard room and suites, were an excellent amenity to have. Staff in the hotel were attentive and helpful. My luggage, which I had arranged to be sent to the hotel earlier, was waiting in the room for us when we checked in. The front desk staff also helped with filling in the form in Japanese for our bags to be sent to our next destination.

Wonderful spacious, clean hotel rooms with a massive attached toilet and tub. Loved that washing machines were included in the toilet and every appliance was in good working condition. Location is perfect - near many of Hommachi station exits and bus stops that take you straight to Arashiyama and Gion.

The steam room was not working while we were there but that is a very minor inconvenience

Clean and very spacious room. Good location near a metro station and bus stops. Helpful and friendly staff. Amazing big wooden bath. Terrace was a nice plus

There is no breakfast and in our room there wasn’t a kitchenette. But there are good bakeries and some restaurant options around the area. There was a traffic light right in front of the hotel and we could hear a beeping sound indicating when pedestrians could cross from our room, which can become annoying after a while, but the sound does stop during the night

Very close to subway and imperial gardens. There is an amazing bakery behind the hotel as well as a great Ramen spot around the corner.

There wasn’t much to do in the area. We had to bus, subway, or cab to most of the sights and things to do.

It is conveniently located just a few stops from Kyoto Station. I love the place not only it is clean , has every amenities I needed but also walking distance to their local supermarket! I visit there everyday !
