Nice modern hotel with good size room and beds for three full size people. Reasonably central with easy access to buses to most major attractions.

Airco made a lot of noise, and wifi didn't work, but both were resolved swiftly when notified to reception.

The staff were super friendly, the hotel was easily accessible to most parts of Kyoto and was only a short walk to the main station. The room was well sized with good amenities and was in general a lovely place to stay in Kyoto! The available extras in the hotel lobby were also very handy and were consistently restocked. Had both a shower and bath, in the form of a wet room. The toilet is separate as well as the sink, allowing for more efficient usage of both. Everything was clearly labelled with instructions of use, so easily to understand and operate. The room was clean and tidy, with the cleaning staff leaving our room in lovely condition and respecting items we had left out between cleans.

I personally didn't have an issue, but my partner mentioned the mattress was a bit firm, so may be one to note for those who prefer softer mattresses.

Our room was one of the biggest we had during our trip to Japan. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. They had water and ice available and also one washing machine. There is a 24 hour laundry place next to the hotel also.

I would definitely stay in this hotel again when we come back to Kyoto but there were just one of two issues. Our air-con was leaking water and left the carpet wet, the light at the entrance of the room was motion censored and could not be turned on and off manually. It also turned on randomly during the night. Lastly, the window can’t be opened in the room to let fresh air in.

We had a very pleasant stay at Rinn Horikawa Gojo. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, not too small in my opinion. It was also super clean, and smelled nice (we read about other hotels in the area that some rooms smelled like cigarettes) The front staff is nice and accommodating, they were able to help every time we needed. We arrived later than planned and we missed the check in time, but we wrote to them a couple hours in advance and they quickly provided information for self check-in. Amenities were great as well: self-service shower caps, razors, hair brushes in the lobby and there is a water dispenser, microwave oven and washing machine on the second floor. And a big plus: the shampoo and conditioner were actually quite good, which is quite rare in hotels :)

Location is great, public transport is super close but it’s a bit inconvenient that when going to Kyoto main station you have to climb up a flight of stairs and pass the street on the overhead passage which is difficult with a lot of luggage. However when coming from Kyoto main station you can just take a City Bus and it will drop you off literally in front of the hotel. You could also take a taxi which is cheap due to the hotel being close to the main station

A little on the outskirts of the CBD—so away from the hustle and bustle—meant we got our steps in (and a few taxis) back and forth to sites. However, there were a number of gems locally to eat and drink that we discovered because of this and a bit of calm from the madness of the CBD/Touristy areas. Staff were helpful, friendly and polite - calling us taxis when needed, helping with bikes etc... The room was a decent size for Japan, shower/bathroom, room amenities etc...all good

Bed wasnt that comfortable. Ironing board was just that - a small board, which made it difficult to iron a dress or shirt. And I hate not being able to open a window for fresh air, especially when the heat/cooling was hard to control - seemed freezing cold or hot in the room.

The room is spotlessly clean and its size is much better than the space you'd usually get in Japan. Staff is very polite and helpful. Even though it is not in the "centre of action", the location is quite convenient: bus stop right in front of the hotel, with lines 9 and 28 easily connecting to Kyoto Station and several of the top attractions. Bus pass for 1-day unlimited use is very practical and can be bought directly from the hotel reception. Hotel has a small laundry facility (paid with coins, soap included) which is handy. There are good dinner alternatives to avoid the crowds of Pontocho and elsewhere, we went to Sushi Kaizeki Kozuki (few blocks away, cash only). Price was correct, overall reasonable value for money, would definitely stay here again.

Lack of breakfast options: the hotel doesn't have it and in Kyoto it's not obvious to find one...

Room was spacious compared to most of the hotels we stayed at in Japan. It was clean and had wardrobe space including space for our luggage. The bathroom was big too. The staff were lovely and very accomodating.

We were told that there would be no room cleaning upon our arrival which we were fine with. The reception told us that there would be a charge of 3000 yen if we wanted cleaning. During the 4 nights we stayed, they cleaned our room but did not inform us about it. Given that we had personal belongings just lying around here and there, it was uncomfortable for them to clean our rooms without letting us know beforehand especially since it had been explained there would be no cleaning. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay.

This hotel was an incredible experience in every way. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating with luggage delivery and room assistance. The room itself was way more spacious than I had anticipated. The large restroom, spacious beds, and couch were so needed during our long stay. There is a laundromat right next door, the bus stop is right in front of the entrance , and there is an amazing ramen spot across the street. Definitely my favorite hotel in Japan!

The bedroom was larger than the typical Japanese standard, very clean, and cosy. The toilet was separate from the spacious bathroom, which had an excellent shower. Amenities were available in the hallway for guest use. The staff was friendly and always smiling. The price was very reasonable. Although the location is not very central, it is still great, with many nice budget-friendly restaurants nearby and a bus stop just outside the hote

The main issues with this hotel are that the rooms are not serviced daily, and the location is a bit farther from the subway.

Even though the location is not near to any tourist attraction, there are enough buses to go around to take to various locations. There are 7-11, Family and Lawson nearby. Unfortunately, the laundry machine was not functioning when we were there but there is coin laundry just 3 minutes away.

The container for water is too small. We drank alot of water, so we need to refill a few times in a night. Perhaps can look into this and provide a bigger container?
