The hotel is small and intimate. Staff was very helpful. The rooms are well equipped, the mix of a "western" bed with Japanese tatami beds is a great touch for westerners as is the the table at which we had breakfast in the room on the tatami. The location is wonderful, within easy walking distance of multiple stations and walking distance from the main shopping district in Kyoto and a multitude of restaurants of all types and flavors. We loved it.

The bathroom and shower could be easier to air/ventilate. It essentially airs out in to the bedroom, so you need to open a window, which is not always great in the heat, with the airconditioning on. This is not a major issue.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with many amenities for the guests. The style is a perfect mix of traditional and modern. The hotel staff were exceptionally accommodating when we had to check in way past the designated time, and super helpful with laundry as there is a free laundry room provided and coin laundry down the street.

In the insane summer heat, the location was a bit of a walk (around 10 minutes) to main streets and train stations. But it’s a great taste of a less crowded area of Kyoto, and wouldn’t be a problem if you’re not staying during the heat or don’t mind walking.

Loved these rooms, actually had space to put everything and they had a very large closet. The bathroom was a great size and appreciated the shower options. The beds were great and the blackout curtains were appreciated since the sun rose very early here. I loved the look of the hotel it was very modern with a vintage feel. The staff were very kind and helpful. They also made our experience with shipping luggage very easy. They have great explanations for all of the room amenities.

There is free laundry (which is amazing) but it would have been helpful for the laundry room to have some notes for people in different languages. Especially when it came to the fact that so many people were using it and some got upset when people would move their clothing (standard to happen but seems like it could have helped to have warned people or set some ground rules.) Overall loved the stay and nothing bad to say, just a recommendation.

Staff was great, very helpful and respectful. Room with many amenities, good room service and good breakfast

Breakfast, even though was delicious, was served in a fixed schedule (was not self service). It's not a problem per se, but we felt that it hindered our schedule flexibility, and might get repetitive for long stays. Towels in the were changed daily, but I found another person's hair in my "clean" towel. Light contol in the room was good, but some spots in the room were dark. Location is good but could be better, it's about 3 blocks from a bus stop, and a bit farther from the subway

The hotel was quiet, clean, and comfortable, with a friendly and helpful staff. The room was decorated in soothing dark tones but was well-lit and inviting. Fresh towels and water were provided daily. The central location, convenient for shopping and public transportation, was greatly appreciated.

Not much to complain about. One minor issue: while the hotel offered free washer and dryer facilities, they were frequently in use, making it challenging to find an available time. This often required multiple trips to check if they were free.

Very nice design and interior, a cosy and homely place with small but stylish rooms. The location is great, loads of good restaurants in the area and not too many tourists. Close to the river for running/walking, and just a short walk to a massive shopping district (Nakanocho) and not to mention the Higashiyama ward with temples and small streets with traditional (albeit touristy) shops and a lovely mountain top run/hike available with views.

Breakfast was good but it is also possible to buy this at Lawson around the corner. Coffee places opened a little late in the area so it is good to get free coffee and tea in the hotel.

It was an excellent experience. The location was unbeatable—just a 10 to 15-minute walk to all the main hotspots, with easy access to public transportation like trains and buses. Everything we needed was within walking distance, and there was even a small, affordable parking lot nearby where we could leave our rental car, which was incredibly convenient. The staff at the reception were incredibly friendly and very professional, explaining everything we needed to know. While the lobby is quite small, it’s very cozy and well-designed, offering free water, tea, and coffee all day long. There are also two washing machines and dryers available for free use, which was a great bonus. The interior of the hotel is modern and tastefully decorated. Despite being fully booked, we hardly heard any noise from neighboring rooms. The only small drawback was that our room was on the ground floor with no view, as it was right next to another building. However, this was a minor issue that didn’t detract from our overall enjoyment. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive, and we really appreciated the small touches like fresh towels and bottled water provided daily, even though we opted not to have our room cleaned. The in-room coffee was also delicious! All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for its excellent location, modern amenities, and friendly staff.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! It’s perfectly located in the center of Kyoto, which made it super convenient to explore all the nearby attractions. The hotel itself is a charming Japanese-style boutique with a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, making it a perfect retreat after a day of sightseeing. One of the highlights for me was the lovely garden view from the lounge—so serene and calming. The hotel also provides tea and coffee, which was a nice touch, especially after a long day of exploring. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed, providing a perfect balance of modern comfort. I felt at home the entire time. The location couldn’t be better—lots of amazing restaurants and attractions within walking distance. I’ll definitely be coming back to this hotel on my next trip to Kyoto. Highly recommended!

The only thing I didn’t quite enjoy was the limited TV channel selection. Most of the channels were in Japanese, and I was hoping for more variety in terms of options.

Stylish but still traditional property located a very short walk from subway as well as other part of town with shopping and dining. Upon arrival, we received a very nice room upgrade that had a little kitchenette. The room was large and very comfortable. The shower/wet area was odd to us at first but very cool once we got the hang of it. The coffee and tea service in the room was excellent and very welcome. The property has free washers and dryers which definitely helped us out. Staff was kind, professional and super friendly.

Can get a tiny bit noisy - water heaters in rooms are individual and make a bit of noise if your neighbor is using hot water at odd hours. Not a huge deal.
