-it was close to the attractions we were interested in visiting -nice big room with a bed for each -it was near a market

-the pillows were too uncomfortable and when we asked for another ones they presented us with the same type -the breakfast was included in the price, but we did not enjoy it at all -it was pretty far from subway stations

The hotel is in a strategic location, just a short walk from Nijo Castle and the subway, making it easy to explore Kyoto’s major attractions. The cleanliness of the hotel is top-notch — rooms and common areas are well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. While English was limited with some, there was always someone available who could assist. The rooms are compact, but functional and well-organized. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom, though small, was clean and equipped with everything needed. A bonus is the complimentary Japanese-style breakfast, which is simple but filling — a great way to start the day. Overall, excellent value for money, especially for travelers who prioritize location, cleanliness, and basic comforts. I’d happily stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.

Perfect price/quality ratio. Perfectly clean, lovely views from our room. Everything that you need is provided, even if you have a room with no cleaning, you receive fresh towels every day.

Breakfast could be a bit improved. I understand that they are included in the price so they cannot be overwhelming but please at least add some normal source of protein (some more tasty eggs) so that one could fill their stomach at least a bit :) Or if there was an option to pay extra 10 eur or so and have better breakfast, I would definetely go for it. But I understand that the space is limited there.

Generally like all Toyoko Inns as the amenities and facilities are well thought out. This is no exception. Our room for 3 was quite big and we even managed to get 3 separate beds. There's enough space to lay out luggages and chairs for everyone! Breakfast was ok but the place was packed with too little seats, but Toyoko provides takeaway boxes which is something we appreciate.

Nothing to dislike other than it was packed. But it's a given since this is in Kyoto in peak travel period.

The size of the room and the provided amenities were ok. The personnel was friendly and ready to help with questions even though some didn't speak English and we had to use Google Translate. The area is quite and easy to explore.

The location of the hotel is not very convenient regarding the public transportation options in Kyoto i.e. metro, bus etc. so you have to walk a lot. There were a lot of people in the lobby and the elevator of the hotel 24/7 so it felt quite busy. We tried the breakfast just the first day and that was enough, since it didn't fit our tastes.

I loved how close it was to temples, shrines and shopping districts. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful when we had an issue with our room card. The washer and dryer was also a bonus as well as the vending machines in the lobby.

The only few thing I didn’t like was the stiffness of the beds and pillows. The pillows were very uncomfortable. Breakfast was good but at times it was hard to find something we liked.

The staff are very polite and helpful! Breakfast is amazing! Great localization as well (nearby train stations, bus station, konbini, Daiso and the Nijo Castle). There are 4 laundry machines and 2 dryers machines. We could wash our clothes without problems. There are lockers to keep your luggage too if you get earlier before the check-in. Very good! They received our luggage from Osaka and help us sent our luggage to our next hotel in Tokyo. Everything was great!

Location was perfect easy access to bus and subway, staff is very helpful

Breakfast is not continental with very little options and the breakfast area is too small and is flooded with people wanting to have breakfast. There is no option if you are vegan or vegetarian the least you'd expect is bread and jam

the facility was clean and staff were extremely polite and helpful! super thankful for the staff members who helped me with organizing the luggage transportation service (Yamato) to our next hotel.

the elevators are always packed with other travelers so you may have to wait 2-3 elevator trips to get to the floor you need to get to.

Everything was perfect. The price-quality ratio is excellent. The location is great. The hotel is located 10 minutes away from Karasuma oike station and 8 minutes away from Shijo Horikawa bus station by feet. The hotel is very clean. Breakfast was tasty. Gratitude to the hotel staff for their hospitality and friendly in the very beautiful city Kyoto. Definitely gonna book this hotel again in my next visit.
