Unforgettable Stay at MIMARU Kyoto Nijo Castle – Perfect for Families! We had an amazing experience staying at MIMARU Kyoto Nijo Castle. From the moment we checked in, the staff was incredibly warm, helpful, and accommodating. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Nijo Castle and near public transport, which made exploring Kyoto super easy. The room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed for families or groups. We loved having a kitchen and dining area, especially while traveling with kids. It really felt like a home away from home. What really stood out was how family-friendly everything was. The hotel Japanese-style seating area, and other thoughtful touches that made our stay extra comfortable. There's also a laundry room which was super convenient for longer stays. There are convenience stores, restaurants, and even a 7-Eleven nearby, making late-night snacks and quick meals easy. The area is peaceful but still close enough to Kyoto’s main attractions. If you're visiting Kyoto with family or a group, I can’t recommend MIMARU Kyoto Nijo Castle enough. It was one of the best parts of our trip!

The staff were super friendly. There is a ramen shop that is about 5 places down that was the best ramen I have had in my life. The owner is super friendly and they have an order kiosk if you don’t feel like interacting. As far as the hotel, it was one of the best places I stayed at out of the hotels. I’d highly recommend for the washer/dryer combo and the shower/bath room combo alone.

I can’t really say there was anything I didn’t like. I really enjoyed the property. It was a 15 minute walk from one of the train lines that we had to use, but it was still fairly easy to get there with all our luggage. The beds were a bit hard, but I think that is a normal thing in Japan (every bed we had was about the same amount of hardness). I actually preferred it, because it pushed me to get up and moving and I still got a good nights rest even with the toughness. We had the entire family with us, which made suitcases a bit hard to layout, but they had excellent storage for everything.

Staff is beyond first class. They are helpful, proactive and very kind. They were so helpful when one of our kid's was injured. They called around and made an appointment for us on a Sunday, when most places were closed. We didn't ask them to do this, they took it upon themselves. They located a wheelchair for us at another Mimaru, which they let us borrow for free for the duration of our stay. They even offered to swap crutches with us, when we couldnt find a matching pair after looking for one at 3 different locations. I can't thank the staff enough for all their help. Room was beautiful. Washing machine works very well, including the dryer setting.

Wasn't a problem for me because I always wear one, but you might want to bring an eye mask because the morning sun is bright and there are no curtains per se, just the traditional paper/wood screens.

We were really happy to have a caring and energetic concierge. They helped us with directions and recommendations each day. They also took time to engage with my children and play lobby games with them. The room was quiet, good air conditioning, lots of storage, great washer and dryer and very clean shower and toilet area. The bunk beds were a hit with my kids. We like that we were 5 minutes walk from a couple train stations.

The adult beds you could moderately feel the springs through the bed, which was confusing as they seemed robust to look at.

My stay at this hotel in Kyoto was exceptional—truly the best hotel experience I’ve had in Japan! The rooms were incredibly spacious and thoughtfully equipped, featuring a washing machine and dryer, a fully functional kitchen, and even a traditional tatami area that added an authentic touch to the stay. Everything was impeccably clean, and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, even assisting us with luggage transfer services to our next hotel, which made traveling so much easier. They also provided us with helpful guides to explore Kyoto, which was a thoughtful gesture. I’ll definitely choose Mimaru Hotels again for future stays. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Japan!

The room was very clean and nice. Once the sleeping mats are down, there is not much room to walk around and hard to get to dining table. The staff are incredibly helpful and informative. The location is great, easy to walk to Gion, Nishiki market. The inroom washer/ dryer is great.

Its a bit of a walk to some subway lines. The bathroom set up is a mostly good, excepting the shower door is clear and backs on to main bathroom so that noone else can use the sink and would have to walk past the clear door to use the toilet.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful, though provided generic responses to questions like recommendation to restaurants. Bathroom and laundry facilities were clean and spacious. The washing machine, dryer allowed us to catch up on some washing during our trip. The room was sizable, and the beds were comfortable and soft.

The location felt a little out of the way for public transport. While there was a bus stop out the front, the trains in Kyoto were a little hard to access from this location and we ended up using Taxi's / Uber's.

The rooms were spacious for 5 of us and the location was near convenient bus stops. The staff was the star as they were so friendly and helpful. They spent a lot of time helping us find a place for our large group to eat and we were so appreciative.

Everything was wonderful but the air conditioning in our room was a little weak. We were travelling with family who had 2 other rooms on the same floor and their AC was ice cold! I think it was just our room but they kindly came and looked at it and said it was working. It was, but it just didn't get very cold so made sleeping mildly less comfortable.

Great location and great facilities for a family. We stayed here for 4 nights. Buses were easy to catch on the street. The nearest train station is 10 mins walk. The room itself is spacious enough for a family of 4. We got the room with the bunkbeds. The bedroom is separated from the living area. They have games for the kids. There is a bingo game for the kids to earn a reward. The staff all spoke English and were very helpful. Highly recommend for families.

Need more hooks to hang towels and jackets

Absolutely loved this hotel and the room; it was sparkling clean, cosy and with beautiful Japanese style interior design and furnishings which added a lot to the experience and made us feel like home. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile all the time; we are very grateful for their help throughout our stay. The hotel itself is conveniently located with a number of bus stops within walking distance and there are train stations nearby as well where you can easily top up your public transport cards; it's very easy to get to all of the main attractions of the city thanks to accessible public transport and central location in an area of downtown that was not too busy and crowded. The much busier Sanjo and Shijo streets with their shopping areas are within walking distance. Train station is a 15-20 min bus ride away and the bus stop is very close to the hotel so there was no need to order a taxi.
