The hotel is located in a quiet area and is within walking distance to the Gojo station and isn't too far from the Kyoto JR station. Also, more importantly, it's down the street from a Family Mart! :) The hotel itself is beautiful and I loved how aesthetically pleasing and serene the lobby was. The lobby also has complimentary amenities near the elevator such as pajamas, tooth brush, cotton pads etc. Oh! And they have a bookshelf full of manga in the lobby that guests could read in their downtime. The rooms were incredibly clean, decently sized and the beds were comfy. My friend and I each had a medium suitcase, carry on, and a backpack and we were able to make things fit in the room without feeling too cramped. The biggest standout to us though was the staff. My friend lost her passport somewhere in the Osaka JR station, and the front desk agent was able to make a few phone calls and located it! He wrote a note for her to hand to the Osaka JR station staff. I wish I remembered this gentleman's name because he was able to turn this whole situation around for her. Besides that, the staff in general were incredibly kind and friendly and helped make our stay a memorable one! They even helped us set up our luggage delivery to the next hotel we were going to stay at in Tokyo. I highly recommend this hotel and plan on returning the next time I'm in Kyoto!

The check in was quick and convenient and it was good that they offered multiple key cards. The lobby was good and provided a safe way to lock and store luggage which came in handy when we were transferring over to Tokyo. They also offered amenities like toiletries and bath robes. The room itself was amazing, with the staff cleaning the room everyday. We had an amazing view of Kyoto station and the Tower which lit up during the night.

We booked through booking.com which said it included the accomodation tax, but when we arrived and checked in we had the pay that tax again.

Excellent location just one stop from the Kyoto station, which is a great place to shop and dine. The hotel also has a wide variety of breakfast and the staff was very nice, even though some don't speak English very well, but will do anything to help you or solve any issues. The rooms are very clean and spacious enough. I really liked the laundry area, with 4 washing machines and the possibility to see if a certain washing machine is ready to be used, which was displayed on the TV screen in the room. If you speak Japanese you can get mangas from the reception library. The hotel also has a self check -in and check-out, very convenient :)

It would be great if the hotel has a lounge area to relax, have coffee or a drink. The only available place like that was at the reception but it was mainly a waiting area, and it wasn't always the best place to hang out. Otherwise it's a lovely hotel.

Room layout was great. Separate bathroom/wet room and Toilet. Aditional Sink in the hall space. TV homescreen provided all required information needed for the facilities. Modern room controls I loved. From the bed you can control the lights, USB charge, power socket, and the air-conditioning. Extra dehumidifier was great as with the small room and 2 people it can get humid. All of the supplied toiletries, umbrellas, Manga Library and kimona in the room to mention a few invmcrease the comfort. The vacuum bag sealer for packing was a nice touch. The in house smoking area was appreciated greatly. It's was a great stay and quite frankly an amazing location for the money. Impressive service and value for money

The room was a little small, which is fine but we are on a 3 week trip and there wasn't a lot of room with our bags and cases in the room. A wardrobe/drawers for clothes would have helped. As with a lot of hotels, the USB charging ports were USB B. This required us to buy an additional converter to USB C as there were no international sockets.

Self-check in was easy and quick. The luggage lockers were good and included a place to sit while arranging your things and taking a breather. Breakfast was really good. The salmon katsu was delicious. Can’t beat the location. It was close to alot of fun places.

There was a slight foul smell in the lobby when we first walked in. Not sure what that was. I only saw on staff member at a time and there was no contact made with them. The facility seems to be set up to minimize staff contact. But they are on the property just not actively visible.

First, we liked the location —it was not too far to the dowtown but it was close enough to the places we wanted to go in Kyoto. The train station was also very close to the hotel. The interior of the rooms were good: a mix of traditional and modern Japanese aesthetic with the tatami mat flooring. The room is also more spacious than the usual hotels in Japan. The staff were very accommodating, polite and helpful. We wanted to send our luggage elsewhere so they helped us step by step.

For its price, we found the amenities a bit lacking. Yes it had the usual laundry, ice machine, microwave and bath essentials but compared to the other hotels we’ve stayed in, the selection was less (no facial wash, shaving cream, face moisturizer, lotion).

The location of the hotel is very centric and easy to go to any places by bus, tube or taxi. The room is very comfortable. You will be at a walking distance to nice bars and restaurants. Everything is self service, from the check-in, to storing your luggage, and check-out. You don't see anyone around apart from guests. It was a bit strange at the beginning however you had everything very well explained and worked very well.

Not having anyone to talk or to help. Not personalized. You have to figure it out all by yourself taking more time to check-in. And if you have more than a room like we did, you have to check-in and pay each room separately, doing the whole process again instead of paying all at once.

Room is very nice, with tatami and a traditional wall. Self check in and out fast and convenient. Room sound proof. Luggage storage super great. Option for laundry (and we could see on the TV set the progress and when the washing program was over). Beds very large and comfortable.

The AC was a bit annoying, as the flow of cool air was coming directly on the bed. But we placed outselves transversally in the bed, with air flow blowing on our legs, and we slept like babies.

We loved our stay at Henn na Hotel Premier Kyoto Gojo Karasuma! We reached the hotel from Kyoto station within a ~15 minute walk and could easily check in by ourselves as we arrived in the evening. The room was lovely furnished in a traditional japanese way with tatami mats. The hotel provided a lot of things like toothbrushes, razor, slippers and so on. The breakfast was delicious with a large selection of japanese food as well as food you can get for breakfast in western countries. Even though our room faced the main street we didn‘t hear a thing of the traffic. The city centre or Gion quarter can be reached within a ~15 minute walk. In the surrounding area are some conbinis, a pharmacy, a subway station and restaurants. All in all a great choice!

The room is very traditional and spacious (enough for at least three suitcases). It was clean and the TV’s were keeping track of the washing machine, which comes in handy. Moreover the employers were so nice and multilingual (i.e. chinese, english, and japan as far as I’m aware of). They also give you the opportunity to leave your luggage behind (before and after check-in).

The washing machine was okay, but I personally found it a bit dirty. However, it was nothing to fret about.
