Very nice and calm area of Osaka but only a few minutes by foot to see the Dotonbori district with food, visit Amerikamura on the way. There is also a metro station directly to Osaka castle 2 minutes from the hotel. We were able to do laundry in the hotel which was great and not too expensive. The staff was very polite.
Unfortunately when we arrived we were a little early and it is not possible at all to go into the room before 14:00 even if they are ready already. You would need to pay an additional fee.

Firstly, I want to start this review with some context. I’m not normally a big reviewer, however, I recently spent 30 nights in Japan, and the reviews on hotels were helpful for me when I was planning my trip, so if my experience helps the next person then great! Together my partner and I visited 32 different parts of Japan, staying in 19 hotels, giving me (I think) a good basis for my review. We stayed in Osaka for 5 nights, using it as a base to explore Nara & Kobe. The Osaka Excel hotel was a brilliant hotel in a vibrant, exciting and fun city. The hotel is close to the tube network, meaning it's possible to explore the city really easily. It's a great location for exploring on foot too, with Dōntonbori, Namba and other popular locations in Osaka all within 30mins walk. The hotel is in a very safe area, which was quiet at night. There are two lifts to get you to the rooms, but we didn't ever have to wait too long for them so it wasn't an issue for us, however may be annoying at busy times - not that we experienced this at all. We also used the laundry facilities at the hotel, our clothes were clean but they didn't really dry - we had to air them in our room (this wasn't too much of an issue as we had time here for them to dry!). The room was comfortable, a good size, with a nice shower and bath, we had space to open our cases and the bed was a good size. It was a really great hotel to base ourselves in for our time in Osaka - which ended up being our favourite city of the trip! We would stay here again - it was everything you need for a hotel base!
The laundry facilities could be improved, but it wasn't a deal breaker, just something to note. Overall nothing to really complain about!

The hotel itself is at a convenient location and the amenities in the room are great! What I want to focus is the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. It is a bit pricey in Japanese standard, but it is definitely acceptable in America, especially when you look at the quality of the food. They serve both Western and Japanese cuisine. Everything is fresh and delicious. My favorite dish goes to the french toast. The Japanese way made it fluffy with the custard texture at the center. Once you top it with whipped cream, you won't need anything else. Highly recommended if you have an appetite for a big and tasty breakfast!

Beautiful hotel in a convenient location. Great view from my room. Big soaking tub was wonderful after a long day of walking and exploring the city.
The restaurant hours. Having a last entrance for breakfast at 9:30 seemed too early and it was difficult to make the short dinner window as well. I wasn’t able to eat there at all unless I would have interrupted my sightseeing to go back to the hotel early. My only option was the bar, which also had limited hours and limited options. I prefer to eat out when traveling vs the hotel food but there were a few times it would have been nice to have the option. Especially breakfast.

Good value for money Location is very nice. You can reach to the marketplace in 20mins on foot but you're not in the middle of the crowded areas. It's a nice balance in my opinion. The street the hotel is on was very beautifully decorated with lights and it was lively any time of the day. The room design was quite original. Toilet and shower are at completely separate places, with sink and toiletries in between in the open. Room size was decent for a business trip. Breakfast was very good. Definitely worth it. It has plenty of options for foreigners while also making traditional Osaka cuisine available. Need to mention good coffee you can take away. Cannot comment on housekeeping as I stayed only 2 nights and I didn't want cleaning. But the hotel was very clean. Finally they have a small bar at the reception where you can enjoy the view and sip your cocktail. Overall I enjoyed my stay there.
Having the reception on 16th floor of the building makes is a little difficult to locate at first and having to use a separate set of elevators for room access needs some time get used to it. But it's definitely not a big deal.

Good location and public transport accessibility. The district was relatively calm and not as crowded as Osaka/Umeda stations area but we could find very good shops and restaurants.
The housekeeping service was not efficient. On the first day, when I requested an eco-friendly light service as they explained on the guide, they only emptied the trash and replaced the towels. They did not replenish the consumed instant coffee (only two sticks available per day) and drinking water. The next day, I requested the regular cleaning service and these issues were resolved. If this is the hotel's basic policy, fewer guests would opt for eco-friendly light house keeping service.

We are staying in room 527. We extended our stay directly at the reception for 2 more nights due to a personal injury. We want to praise the hotel staff for doing an amazing job at accommodating us, and for providing us with every single thing we needed, while doing everything with a smile and wholeheartedly! One of us got injured while exploring the city, and one of the receptionists (can’t remember her name, sorry🙏), was quick to act and check which hospital is the nearest one to have an English speaking staff that can help us, and she even gave us a wheelchair and escorted us downstairs and got us a taxi, and then every time we passed near the reception she smiled and said hello. We thank her for everything and we want her to know that she is an amazing person! The room was very clean and equipped with everything you could ever imagine, the variety of the food was amazing, the staff is super polite and always greets you, and makes sure that everything is to your liking! We will definitely come back when we will be in Osaka again!❤️

The room was really quite spacious, far larger than the others I stayed in in Japan. The separate toilet and shower/wet room was a nice feature. The space for hanging clothes and coats was helpful and the bed was very comfortable. The electric kettle was great for making coffee and tea and they also provided bottled water. Our room had a great view of the area. We declined basic room refresh and fresh towels the first two nights as the hotel says they donate to an environmental cause if you don't require that service. The location was perfect for walking to dinner and shopping, as well as connecting to transportation. It couldn't have been better!

Location of the hotel with respect to entertainment areas/ sight seeing locations. Found good places to eat and drink within the hotel area, Starbucks located downstairs on other side of the tower.
The noise insulation within the hotel was limited for my expectations, people passing the room door could be heard easily, noise from floor above (moving furniture etc) easily heard and traffic noise was higher than expected. It is located on a main road but would have though the quality of glass would have been higher for better insulation.

Great location, close to Hommachi station although the path to get to the right/closest exit is very convoluted and there are no stairs as per usual so I would recommend sending your luggage or be prepared to lift/carry your luggage.
One of the only suggestions I would make is the tap in the room for the sink is too short, it’s not that big of a deal but from a practicality and sustainability point of view. You end up washing your hands at the back of the sink and it’s hard to keep the water in the sink.
