Hostel was so nice ! Environment was clean. Rooms are big so you have space for your luggage. Kitchen has cofee spot with milk crem !!!! For me it was so important, because i can not live without coffee !!! Location also good. Neighborhood has everything. Lawson, Family mart, 9 minutes by AEON (there are the cheap but fresh delicious sushi . Big box for 500-600 yen). And the most interesting is owner. I understood that for owner this hostel not about business and money. For him his guest house is pleasure. He is so hospitable. He always helped, was so friendly. I think staff is so important in hotel business and I already get used that staff can be inpolite, they don't care or the want just make money. But here I felt like home. Thank you TOMATO 🍅 😘

It was an amazing time. Everything was clean, beds were very comfortable and AC worked amazing in the sleeping room. I had no big problems if any.

I don't know if it's a thing in Japan but the AC didn't work well in shower room. Water wasn't that cold and when I was done washing myself I was already sweaty (I was traveling in August a.k.a. the hottest month in Japan)

1. Wonderful host & a wonderful hostel. It's a home converted to a hostel and the overall experience was amazing. 2. Comfy beds with privacy screen, lights, socket, locker etc 3. Cosy common area to sit n socialise with others. 4. Fully loaded kitchen to make your own meals. Free coffee/tea. 5. A quiet residential neighbourhood about 4 metro stops away from Namba station. Shin-Osaka station is just 15mins walk away.

1. A bit from from central Osaka but it's hardly 2 or 3 stops away by metro. Perfect for those who don't like the hustle of the downtown.

I like the ongoing tomato theme. It was interesting to know the meaning of tomato and why the own we chose this fruit. It also felt comforting like living in a family home sharing bunk beds. The browns and reds made it feel homey to me anyway. The guesthouse I'd close to stations. The manager was in-house in case of emrgencies.

The stair were a bit harsh on my knee, but a lot of stairs in smaller businesses are like that. However the lack of insurance for the bike diswayed me. I would have like to ride around Osaka but the liablity for a used bike was too high even though it would have been useful. I was told because of Osaka law it would be hard to find parking, there have been a lot of accidents, police impound it and I would be responsibility for any damage including a flat tire. It complimentary.

I have very fond memories of my stay in this hostel. I felt very safe and welcome. The place is run by a friendly owner, who chats with everyone and gives tips on what to do or visit in a particular place. The dorm room was quite large and the bed was comfortable. There is also a kitchen and a living room where you can enjoy a cup of tea. It was a good accommodation as a base to explore other cities. The subway stop is a few minutes away on foot and it was also possible to walk to Shin-Osaka station.

Good location, short walk from the station with a good river view The bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet - I slept well every night Very clean You could tell that the host was putting a lot of effort into the theme and into running the place Cheap for Osaka and really good value for the price! Leans heavily into the tomato theme

Lots of rules - just be aware of these and you'll be fine, but they are enforced Only two toilets/showers for the whole hostel (didn't end up being a major issue) No sink in the toilet

This is a super nice guesthouse with a wonderful location next to the river, calm area with nice places to discover “off the beaten track”, couldn’t be more happy with my stay. The tomato theme is really cute as well and the place is kept impeccably tidy. I really like the calm, homely vibe instead of a lot of partying and drinking that you usually encounter with hostels. There are also a lot more Japanese guest than in other hostels which is nice if you want language exchange.

Sometimes you have to wait a long time for the shower since there’s only two and people tend to go at the same time, but it wasn’t a huge problem.

Very nice hostel for a reasonable price! The host was very nice, the place was clean and just a few minutes walk to the metro station. The toiletts are on the first and second level, so if you stay in the women's dorm on the third floor, you need to go downstairs. There are plugs close to your bed and enough space to put your luggage in front of your bed.

After checkout, you're not allowed to stay in the common room or you have to pay for that.

I enjoyed that it was a little “out of the way” (down a little side street) since because of that it ends up being pretty quiet which is quite nice and relaxing. As well the train station is walking distance so I found it pretty easy to get to Kobe, Osaka and Kyoto from here and there is a FamilyMart like 2 minutes away which is really nice for a quick breakfast or dinner. The owner is really nice and let me know about places I could go to visit, I ended up not using the kitchen facilities (FamilyMart or I ended up eating out in the areas I visited that day) but you are able to use them, they looked very clean and straightforward to use.

We chose a private room. The entire guesthouse is clean and orderly with a homely aspect where you can hang out with other guests (both Japanese and International) and feel comfortable. We were able to watch the Sumo on TV and the host switched it to English so we could enjoy the commentary. The host was extremely accommodating and answered all our questions (we had a lot lol). The host is inclusive and makes the effort to have his guests interact while also leaving space for everyone to have their own quiet time if they prefer. We met a lot of wonderful people during our 7 days at Tomato! We used Osaka Tomato as a base to explore Nara, Kyoto, and Kobe. The price and value is not comparable with the time we had at Tomato! It was the highlight of being in Osaka :)
