As expected in Japan, the hotel was clean and very proper. The staff was friendly and helpful. We found it very interesting that they had pillows with different fillings to choose from, although it seemed that most were already taken. Location is sufficiently convenient - we were able to get to the main shopping areas easily. Self-service laundry facilities are good, and there is a nice guest lounge in the basement.

Being our first time in Sapporo, I would have benefitted from clearer directions on how to get to the hotel from the JR Sapporo train station. The massive subway system is rather confusing to navigate, and not all exits have lifts or escalators. If you're reading this, DO NOT exit from the nearest subway entrance to the hotel (exits 21 or 22) if you are carrying luggage. Instead, take Exit 24 as there is a lift there. There is also no convenient drop-off point at the hotel (you have to drop-off in the back alley, which is completely iced over during winter).

Location near the airport liner stop and subway station. Foods at Yayoi Ken is tasty.

No cold water has been served in the lounge.

The room size is reasonable. Not much space to open our luggage, so we put one on the sofa and one on the table, then we have some space to walk around in the room. The sink is in the room outside the toilet, with a big vanity top to put things. Location is very good. The hotel is located in the middle between the shopping streets and malls near train station, accessible to both on foot, around 10-12 mins walk. Behind the hotel there is a car park, and our car rental company Times is just across the street. Many car parks and cafes opened in the morning for breakfast around the area. There are washing machines and dryers and a public bath (onsen) in the hotel but we didn't use. I like the self-serve area where you can take tea bags, comb, cotton buds, bath sponge for free. They don't put them in each room as not everyone will require all these. Some reception counter staff can speak very good English. The room is quiet and clean.

Room can be bigger ;) Good to have USB charging points.

Typical of Japanese hotels they are impeccably clean. The front desk staff always had a smile and were very helpful especially when my daughter lost her Kitaca card in the airport limousine bus the night before. They called the bus operator to inquire if any was found and all we had to do was claim it in their office. It amazes me how honest the Japanese people are. There was also a Yayoi Ken restaurant beside the hotel and a Seicomart across the street.

It was a walk away from the subway or train station but it’s not too much of an issue. It was however near the drop off and pick up point of the airport limousine bus, the ANA Crowne Plaza hotel which just right around the corner. As typical of Japanese hotels, the size of the room is small but we were still able to fit 5 suitcases!

The size of the rooms at JR Inn were amazing for Japan. Super comfortable, with a decent-sized bed. We also loved the location, it was close to the train station but was relatively quiet unlike Susukino. I also liked that the sink was separate to the toilet and bathroom. There were more than enough amenities and I enjoyed the baths in this area.

It kind of sucked that you're not allowed to eat in the lounge. We ate in our hotel room, but there was only one seat so the other person had to sit on the bed to eat. Additionally, we felt that a lot of the areas in the hotel was too stuffy. My partner found the men's baths to be too warm and stuffy. Also, our rooms just felt way too warm, even with the air conditioning on. We were in Sapporo in winter. lol

The receptionist was very welcoming and patient as we spoke only English. Their other staff member, a man in charge of the in-hotel parking (where they have a lift to bring cars up to a higher floor) was also very helpful in directing us towards the lobby and where we should drop off our lugagge. There is an area downstairs where you can help yourself to shower amenities as well as choose a different pillow to the one they provide in the room. I was already ok with the room pillow but my family felt the pillows downstair were softer. Overall, it is a good location, walkable distance to odori park and sapporo station. The upkeep and maintenance generally quite clean with a spacious bathroom. Facilities also seem good like laundry/dryer machines in the basement but did not have time to try out those or onsen as we had an early start the next day so can't comment on quality of it.

I would say nothing much as this was a one night stay before traveling to another part of sapporo. It served its purpose of giving us a good night rest before having to set off pretty early the next day. The room may be a bit small/cramped for some as i understand it but since we were only there for a night we didn't open up our luggages, so for us space felt relatively okay.

It's within walking distance from both Sapporo Station and Odori. The interior is clean and simple. The room is stylishly minimal and more spacious than expected. There's a large public bath in the basement. I didn’t get to use it this time, but it's nice that there's a lounge in the basement and a Yayoi Ken restaurant on the first floor where breakfast is served.

There’s a selection of different types of pillows that you can choose from and bring to your room, but when I went there at night, there weren’t any left. If you want to choose one, it might be best to do so at check-in.

Stayed here in 2020 and again in 2025 - the facilities are still nice and modern, and well taken care of. It was helpful to have a coin washing machine and dryer in the building. Double room is much more spacious than the room with small double bed. Have tried both room configurations and definitely prefer the double room.

Unable to store large luggage with staff downstairs during our stay. We had two suitcase and two snowboard bags which we had to take up to our rooms for a one night stay (checked in at 4pm, left at 7:30am), but understandable given the limited space. 20-30 minute walk to Susukino and taking the subway does not decrease this time significantly and is expensive for the two stops (2-5 minute difference). The walk is fine both above or underground, but your feet may be sore and tired depending on how many steps you are doing each day.

I took my mom to Sapporo as a birthday present. The check in was very smooth. Dominic assisted us and he’s very professional, knowledgeable about hotel policy and friendly. I live in Japan and even if I have a Japan address, most hotels would photocopy my resident card without asking. I would always end up explaining to the front desk why I don’t want my card photocopied and they would look confused until I present an official online article, and that would be tens of minutes wasted. I am so grateful that it was a quick and smooth check in because we were so tired and ready to crash in bed. Thank you so much! Also, the breakfast was wonderful. It’s a perfect meal to start our day. The staff at Yayoi were all wonderful as well. Gochisousamadeshita!

Nothing really. Just a minor space thing in the lobby when there are a lot of suitcases left by the guests. It’s not really a big deal.

The most outstanding feature for this hotel is the hot bath spa at the basement, very elegantly designed and very comfortable, most 4-star or 5-star hotels do not have this in downtown Sapporo. There is a big and comfortable lounge to relax after the hot bath spa with free coffee and magazines. The room I booked was super big with very big bathroom. The 2 beds and the sofa bed were also very comfortable. The coin laundry worked well with 3 washers and 3 dryers. Yayoi restaurant on the ground level serves tasty meals. The convenience store opposite is great to grab some snacks and drinks. The location is superb and just 5-10 minute walk to Sapporo Station, Odori Station, Sapporo TV tower and Odori park, also a short walk to the Nijo fish market. For those taking airport limousine bus, the Chuo bus from New Chitose Airport stops at ANA hotel which is just round the corner (1 minute walk away). The staff are also very friendly and helpful and the check-in and check-out processes were very smooth and pleasant.

My family loved this hotel and will be our top choice when we visit Sapporo again.
