The location is very convenient, close distance to JR and subway system. Close to Ueno park and national museums. Also close to Ueno market area where you can find all kinds of shops, restaurants and grocery stores. Very close to local Japanese daily life. The hotel gave us two rooms close to each other, four of us feel connected. We stayed for 7 days, pretty happy about the stay.

The room is very small. You are barely able to move things around. Suitcase needs to be put under the bed. The building is close to railway, you can hear the noise when train passed by. Elevator is very slow. I feel having to wait for it come down almost every time.

The hotel is within a 4-5 minute walk from a well connected metro station. The hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood but local restaurants are minutes away, without the high touristy prices. The hotel is very clean, as was my room. The room is very small but the bed was comfortable.

Although other reviewers commented about the small bathroom, I was not prepared for how small it actually is! There really isn't any space for personal toiletries in the bathroom nor is there storage in the room. They provide hooks for 4 hangers, and a couple other hooks to use for whatever you want. I ended up living from my suitcase, which had to be placed on top of the desk - the only horizontal hard surface in the room. Pack light!

Overall, excellent stay and would stay here again. The staff were wonderful and very professional. I left something in my room after check out, realized and came back many hours later, and they managed to get a hold of it and return it to me, no issue. The location was very close to major attractions and shopping in the area, and of course, to numerous train stations, making it accessible to the rest of the city. The room was very clean and tidy.

As expected, the room was very, very small. This is no surprise, considering it's Tokyo, just want others to be very clear and to manage their expectations. I wish there were microwaves, as well as an iron and ironing board, in each room, but at least it's available in the commons services area. Thankfully there is additional storage space for your luggage and things underneath the bed itself. Also, note that you are quite literally right next to the train tracks and you can hear it throughout the day. It didn't bother me personally, but if you're sensitive to noise then it may be an important consideration.

I got very positively impressed and would definitely go to a APA hotel in future. The location of this one was exceptionally good for evening activities and restaurants and very well connected with the subway to the rest of the city! The staff was also extremely kind and helpful, they helped us finding the train to Hakone we needed and organised our suitcase to be shipped to Kyoto.

The room is cleaned every third or fourth day (I don't remember exactly). From a stay of at least 4 nights it would be nice to be able to decide when to get the room cleaned, e.g. after the 2nd night instead of the 3rd, so to have the service in the middle of the stay :)

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Ueno-Okachimachi Train Station which is a great one to explore Tokyo from. Make sure you check your directions as there are quite a few APA hotels in that area. The hotel is very modern, staff are all very friendly, and the hotel is very clean. While the room was pretty small, there was space below the bed to store luggage, which was clever and tucked things out of the way.

The hotel only had one elevator, and during busy times it could take a bit to go up or down. If you are noise sensitive, you may request a quiet room or choose a different hotel as this one is right opposite a busy subway / metro station, and thus you do often hear trains a bit.

We had a comfortable 2 night stay in APA Hotel Ueno Okachimachi Ekimae Minami last May 2025. The room is on a smaller side as per hotel description but you can easily store your luggages under the bed. The room is equipped with towel, slippers and fully stocked toiletries. The ensuite bath and toilet is a good size. The room has hair dryer, kettle with coffee, tea and water bottle. We only stayed for 3 days but they supplied us fresh towels everyday. The instructions are all in the room complete with English translation. The check in process was easy. Make sure you bring the passport with you and take note of the number of guests staying in the room especially their age. The staff are very polite and accomodating. They did not rush us during the check out time. They gladly assisted us with the luggage transfer - they mostly filled out everything for you and even contacted the next hotel we are moving in to. The area is located about 2 minutes walk from Okachimachi train station. There are few Konbinis just outside the hotel, excellent Ramen shops and its very close to shopping centres such as Matsuzakaya, Donki, Uniqlo and Muji including chemist shops and food street along the walking strip. We strolled from the hotel to Ueno Park and Zoo and didn’t have a hard time even with our toddler in tow. We usually get home late but felt safe walking at night coming from Shibuya, Shinjuku and Asakusa due to the train station located nearby.

The hotel is next to the railway station so can be very noisy. While we were out majority of the day and didn’t mind the noise, it could be bothersome for others.

Nice building, nice hotel in general. The room was small (this is to be expected in Tokyo), however very functional and well laid out. The size wasn't an issue at all. Plenty of toiletries supplied, and tea and coffee etc. Every other day an "amenity bag" was left on the door, with fresh towels inside etc. Room had working A/C which also heated nicely, which was great to have when visiting in December. The location is great. A short walking distance from the larger Ueno and Akihabara train stations, and an even shorter distance to the Okachimachi station in between those. You can get on most train lines from these three, and a direct train to most of the tourist areas you'll likely visit. The hotel is right next to the train lines. A short walk to the Ueno area which has plenty of shops and restaurants. A small amount of on site private parking is available on a reservation basis, so I'd suggest seeing if you can reserve it before you get there if you know what nights you're going to have a car and need parking. Parking is very limited around Tokyo, especially overnight parking, so I'd strongly recommended it if you're going to have a car, and want somewhere nearby to park every night guaranteed. I had a car for four of the nights I was there, reserved the parking when I arrived there, and it was simple and straight forward. There's a 24hr Lawson convenience store only a twenty second walk across the road from the hotel, which is quite handy. Staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. Will be the first hotel I look at if I visit Tokyo again.

No negatives, I liked everything.

It was very conducive for travelers because it is very near at the train station, malls, market and different restaurants. It is also a walking distance from UENO park and other known department stores. The room though small is very spacious and clean. Everything is organized according to your needs including the electrical outlets. Cleanliness is very important to them. Everyday you have your new pack of towels, Japanese Robe and other things needed for daily use. They have also Takyubin service if you want your luggage to be transfered to your next destination. And most important you can cast your favorite app on their TV. Also very near to convenience store. Will definitely book again on this hotel for their excellent service.

Nothing because it exceeded our expectation.

Great location, super close to the station and has a lot of what you need around it. Also walking distance to akihhabara. Really comfortable bed and the room was super clean. Felt safe as a solo female traveler too.

Only one lift so sometimes you can be waiting a while for the lift. I also requested a room on a higher floor that wasn’t facing nothing and was given a room on one of the lowest floors that faced a wall. I get that they can’t always facilitate room requests however it was a little disappointing that they did both things and makes me think they didn’t even try which in the past the staff at APA hotels have always read the request and helped as best as possible.

location 3 min walk from south exit with hands free of luggage. Luggage drop before and after on the same day of stay use qr code and stored in their office behind (we can store bag with laptop inside without too worried). As for the space, it is normal and even slightly bigger than a biz hotel in yodoyabashi osaka we had stayed. We still could open full position of our 28inch luggage at the alley in the room. Quite lucky we got best price on that day and payment at the hotel that save exchange rate currency.

with the price and location we had paid, nothing much to complain. Owh, the yukata was itchy for my husband who has sensitive skin so we didnt wear them at the end.
