I recently stayed at CITAN Hostel in Tokyo for five nights, and it was easily one of the best hostel experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm hospitality and efficiency of the staff—they were always quick to assist with any requests, making my stay smooth and hassle-free. Cleanliness & Comfort One of the standout aspects of CITAN is its impeccable cleanliness. The dorms, bathrooms, and common areas were always spotless, and the attention to hygiene made the experience even more enjoyable. The beds are incredibly comfortable, with privacy curtains, individual reading lights, and ample storage space, ensuring a good night’s rest after a long day in Tokyo. The overall ambiance is calm and cozy, striking the perfect balance between social and private. Great Location & Accessibility Another major advantage of CITAN is its convenient location. It’s within walking distance of three subway stations, making it easy to get around Tokyo efficiently. Whether you're heading to major attractions or just exploring local neighborhoods, the connectivity is a huge plus. Basement Bar & Atmosphere One of my favorite parts of the hostel was the basement bar and café, which has a fantastic selection of food and drinks. A special shoutout to the bar chef, あおい, whose potato salad and fried chicken were absolutely delicious! The food here is truly impressive, and the flavors make every meal a delight. The weekend DJ nights add a lively touch, creating a fun but not overly chaotic social scene. It’s the perfect place to relax, meet fellow travelers, or simply enjoy a great meal with good music. Overall Verdict CITAN Hostel offers a perfect blend of comfort, cleanliness, and a vibrant atmosphere at a reasonable price. Whether you’re a solo traveler or visiting with friends, it’s a fantastic base for exploring Tokyo.

Location: it's quite central and well-connected to multiple train lines. So it was easy to get around, even to further parts of Tokyo. Additionally, it's a relatively quite neighbourhood with alot of supermarkets, which I appreciate. Cleanliness: super clean common areas e.g. toilet, bathroom, lounge, pantry etc. Amenities: they provided towels; earplugs; soap and shampoo; snacks and tea in the pantry; map of the train lines etc. I also appreciated that we could bring /keep our luggage in the room itself (rather than in a locker on separate floor).

I wish they had ironing board. I do feel that the space can be a little tight, especially when sharing with others. It can make packing a little tough.

The location is pretty good, you could easily get to two subway stations of two lines and reach most of the places you like. The employees here are really nice, they have good service and are always willing to help. I also like how they combine breakfast, dinner, and bar to their lounge. It is easy to enjoy music, chats, and drinks without spending time to find other places. The shower is pretty clean as well. I don't cook but people who love cooking should be aware that the kitchen is pretty small, I guess it usually only allows one group to make their meal.

Most of the time Wifi works, but sometimes I loses connection. Probably is my cell phone's problem.

Tokyo is my favourite city in the world, and Halloween is my favourite holiday and that is precisely what makes me go to Tokyo every year for this wonderful event. This year, I stayed in CITAN: - the location is pretty convenient, there's many places to eat and convenient stores all around. As well as a few train stations which was great for getting around. - it's a close walking distance to Akiba and Asakusa! - many many friendly people! I met so many wonderful people and partied twice in the common area! it's definitely a social place. - staff were very nice! They showed me where to go to ship my luggage to my next destination and tried to help me find somewhere to do my nails and looked for my scarf when I lost it. - there's plugs in the shower rooms for me to do my hair and they provide shampoo, conditioner and shower gel! - there's a great bar downstairs, and a cafe near the reception which has great coffee! Overall great experience!

- Toilets and showers were gender separated, so you'd have to get lucky to have the correct showers in your floor otherwise you have to travel one floor up/down. - Bar was definitely a bit expensive and closes very early at 11pm. - There is no Whatsapp group chat to look at which events are happening..etc (I wish they did something special for halloween since a lot of the people that I met were literally in Tokyo just for that as well) - No hangers (I should've asked, but I had to throw most of my clothes over the side of my bed and they kept falling). Still a great experience anyway!

Super friendly staff, very attentive. Clean facilites and good looking bathroom. Location is good also with a Lawson nearby and three different stations around within walking distance.

Beds are a bit hard. Annoying how dorms doors are opened at 11 everyday for cleaning that seems superficial at times and feels like you’re being kicked out. I was trying to recuperate from jet lag so wasn’t nice to feel like I have to rush every day so staff can clean in peace.

The hostel is super clean, and I loved the shower gels and shampoo (which you could buy there as well)! The duvet and pillows were very comfortable and thick so great if you're used to the western style of bedding and struggle to sleep otherwise! I only stayed one night here after my flight so I can't say much about the social aspect of the hostel, but there was loud music at the bar when i got there... however soundproofing was really good so you couldn't hear it in the bedrooms :)

The location was good, easy to get to from the airport via direct metro, but if you land in the evening make sure you have enough time to get to the hostel by 11... they did wait 10 minutes after that for me though! It's super safe, cause Japan is generally very safe, but not that much going on in the area.

Big & clean room, great cafe / bar and wonderful staff. Really good value, as long as you don't mind not having an ensuite bathroom - we had a sink in our room which was perfect for us.

Front desk was very accommodating to my communication needs, was prepared ahead of time to convey information clearly in a format I understood. Location was very good, near a train station and many places to drink and eat. Value was solid for a place that's nearby the center of Tokyo. Café on the first floor with a variety of hot and cold drinks available. Bar on BF, good for unwinding after a long day. Only several minutes' walk away from Akihabara.

Industrial-sized AC machine made sleeping on the top bunk uncomfortable. Had to wrap up tightly under my blanket to stay warm. Roommates (other travelers) were uncommunicative re: adjusting the settings. 3rd floor men's toilet had water(?) on the floors in front of both urinals and in the WC in front of the toilet. I avoided using that room as much as possible and went towards the isolated WC at the other part of the floor.

Truly excellent hostel in a great location in Tokyo. Only a few minutes walk to 3 different metro stations which can get you anywhere you want in Tokyo. We are a couple in our early 30s and were hesitant about booking a hostel but the private room was excellent, very comfy bed and the bathrooms and showers were always spotless and extremely well-serviced. The hostel is really well designed and all the amenities and fittings and features of the room were of a really high quality and excellent for this price point. We would definitely come here again and would recommend it to others. The staff were all super lovely and helpful, the shared kitchen and laundry has everything you need and the cafe and bar downstairs are great little spots for some down time. Very good vibes and very good coffee.
