Very friendly and helpful staff, and a great traditional Japanese feel throughout the building. We stayed in a twin room which was much bigger than expected. The onsen and sauna on the top floor is fantastic. Great location, walking distance to Akihabara and Ueno. Fantastic value for money.

Cleanliness, whilst good enough to not be a major issue at all, could be improved a little. Wooden door on bathroom with the shower directly facing it is not great for mold/mildew build up.

Definitely the rooftop Onsen! Staffs are friendly and with breakfast supply adds the value to the stay. And I like the hotel interior display with the Showa vibes. Quiet at night too.

Although it is not too far from metros, you have do some hilly walks to reach hotel which is a bit challenging. Other than that it is totally fascinating.

The personnel were really really nice. The room and the futon were comfortable and the room service of the restaurant was excellent. The provide us with a futon for our baby.

The bathroom wasn't very clean.

the staff was kind and helpful and all spoke English which we appreciated. Our room which was the deluxe twin for two people was spacious and it was nice to have the option to bathe/shower in the room or use the big bath. The futons were absurdly comfortable. It was nice to have breakfast included which was pretty high protein with fish and egg and meat options. If you are not a fan of Japanese breakfast style it may be a difficult adjustment but I loved it.

The hotel is a little older so there are some aspects of the room that show that for example the wooden door to the shower was black from water. Also there was some hair on the tatami that was there when we arrived but no big issue. There is also a long (but not steep) hill to walk up from Yushima station that was difficult some nights.

To touch the Japanese traditional housing, the edoya hotel was a magnificent place for us. The ambiance, the rooms, the decorations and everything. The breakfast was perfect. The hot bath was a real help after hours of walking in the city. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It is highly recommended 👌

I was sick for the last part of my Japan trip, so I didn't really do anything in Tokyo other than rest on the futon in my room most of the time. So, it was nice that this was a comfortable room, the little leather couch was also comfortable. It was nice to have my own bathroom and shower in my room. The room was just right for one person not too big not too small. I never tried the public bath, so I don't know if it is nice or not. The staff was helpful. It was not too expensive and a decent price for Tokyo. It is not too far from Ochanomizu JR station unless you are sick, have to carry heavy bags and can't find a taxi then some of the hills up to the hotel can be kind of rough. The Kanda and Yushima shrines are very close to the hotel and make a nice little outing, this was all I did in Tokyo, for an hour or 2 one day when I felt well enough to get up. Other places like Akihabara seem close but was too far for me at the time. There were a lot of foreigners at this hotel, sports team, families, friends, solo etc. so I think it is probably a good hotel for foreigners. I had read some bad reviews on other travel sites, so I was a little worried about staying here but I had a good stay.

Being an old hotel (from late 60s?) it is a little worn, dinged, dented and scuffed but it is still nice and pleasant. Out of all the breakfasts I had at hotels in Japan this definitely wasn't the greatest. Sorry it would be at the bottom. Some food was cold, frozen when it wasn't supposed to be, and it could have been better. Breakfast was Ok (just Ok)/ decent enough but not great.

Loved every aspect! The room was extremely clean and comfortable. Cleaning services were very professional and thorough. Very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was the best I've ever had for free at a hotel. Simply delicious. The baths on the top floor were also very nice with many showers, a sauna, and three large baths including a cold tub.

Honestly everything was absolutely perfect. I have not criticisms of Hotel Edoya. I will be back to stay with them again next time I an in Tokyo. Completely and totally enamored by the place. Love you Hotel Edoya.

We liked the spacious room and Japanese athmosphere at the hotel, well kept tidy rooms as well. Great plus is the faculty to enjoy the big bath and sauna on the top floor. Efficient reception staff and swift check-in and check-out. Flexible to store luggage after check out time.

The restaurant/Otseku needs improvement. The breakfast (which is complementary) is frugal. When going a bit late, many dishes are running out and they are not replenished. The staff mentions "we're sold out" and that's it. You will have to satisfy with an unbalanced breakfast then. We tried the room service for dinner and while the menu looks attractive, several options were "sold out". With some improvement on the restaurant part, this would have been a perfect experience. A pity.

The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms clean and cozy. The onsen was also a very pleasant experience, especially after a long day exploring Tokyo. There are also multiple metro stations in walking distance so that it was no problem to travel around the city. The breakfast buffet was very delicious and even tho it was small it had a lot of different traditional as well as some western options.

The staff at the front desk were the among the first I spoke to after arriving in Japan and they were exceptional! Very friendly and willing to help with any questions I had. The whole hotel is very traditional which is what I was looking for for my first trip in Japan, tatami mats were in very good condition. Room was a good size for one person, sofa and futon were comfy and perfect for resting after a day out in Tokyo/surrounding areas. The breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast with a good selection of items in the restaurant, very tasty and again the staff there were very friendly and welcoming. The public bath was also very nice, good facilities inside and quite spacious. Location of the hotel was great for me too, just outside of the busy area of Akihabara and within walking distance of multiple train stations for access wherever you plan on going.

Maybe a little more variety in the breakfast options, but it was still very delicious.
