I was given a room with balcony on the 7th floor. The view over the city and mountains beyond was absolutely breathtaking. Unforgettable, in fact. The room was nice. Everything was there as advertised and the TV had the Turkish English language channel, so I was able to catch up with the news. The buffet breakfast was pretty good. There is a metro station close to the hotel, and several eating places nearby. I found the reception staff very helpful and informative.

The balcony was wonderful, but it had no seating. A couple of chairs and a small table would have been nice.

The refurbished rooms are excellent! They are well-designed, made of suitable materials, and executed with high-quality craftsmanship. Hopefully, the rest of the hotel will undergo a step-by-step refurbishment.

The breakfast is served in the restaurant Zina, which is inside the hotel. Over the years, I have been using Hotel Almaty, and the breakfast needs attention from the hotel management. There is not enough space, the dishes lost its quality. Saying that, some years ago breakfast was a wow and nowadays a ok-ish.

In general price to quality of location and service is very good... if you lucky to stay in new design rooms (flours 6,7,8 only). Great restaurant (!!! one of the best food in Almaty, contemporary fusion mix if European and middle asian - very good place even just for dinner), good wifi in the rooms (not in the lobby, or restaurant where wifi is slow and unstable), quick and well laundry service.

Slow internet in Lobby. Very often no water (even cold) after 11pm till 6am. It was happens twice in different months with me. Are they saving electricity for pumps? Lobby area should be better designed, still some feeling of Soviet Union... but rooms (remember about flours) are better. And if you don't lucky and stay on other flours (they said it is also renovated), then it's crap, back to USSR and very depressive, but same good clean and serviced. Super modest breakfast package, I would prefer it will be paid but excluded (but you don't have such option, so you pay twice if you would like good coffee for breakfast). If you ask reservation on reception fo someone who is coming, they will write it, confirm and forgot. Reservation center is not strong.

The location - 100% , very comfortable to move around for the different parts of the city! And the neighborhood is one of the best of the old city. Centrally located and well connected with all the touristic spots .

Top location, practically the heart of old Alma-ata! The view , the neighborhood, the infrastructure nearby - top! Highly recommend. The staff is very helpful and responsive!

Beautiful breakfast terrace.

It has nothing to do with the hotel itself, but some guests were extremely loud, having a part or just standing in the hall in front of other rooms having discussions, laughing etc. at night. Tge walls and doors didn't isolate the sound at all. I stayed for 6 nights and 4 out of 6, it was impossible to sleep. Maybe the hotel staff could put some reminders.

The hotel is very centrally located. The hospitality of staff and managers exceeded the expectations. If you're used to travelling in Europe, the hotel would be on par with 4* or higher hotels. Great breakfast with excellent meal selection. Definitely get a room with mountain view, if you have the chance. We will stay in this hotel again, when staying in Almaty.

Shower could be better: better water pressure and hot water was not available all the time (but it was fixed within reasonable time).

I like the safety, the cleanliness, the location near to almost destination, the great staff who cleaned my room and organize my stuff, the reception staff specially to Rustam, to the girl in the reception who addressed my request of adaptor. Our stay at Almaty Hotel was very nice. Good location, breakfast offer a great variety, room and and bathroom of good size and very clean every day. Complementary mineral water, and the coffe, and tea facilities in the room is a plus! The whole staff of the hotal are very gentle, helpful and professional. Price is of great cost-benefit. I recommend Almary Hotel.

There is nothing we did not like about Almaty Hotel. All good!

Location, refurbished room, breakfast. I was given a room on the 3rd floor near the stairs so it gave me a peace of mind in the times of post earthquake in end of January. The room was very warm, you can turn the heating off of one of the radiators. Windows are tall and there’s a balcony which faces the backyard.

The only thing some would find uncomfortable is the glass walls of the bathroom, there’s a curtain on one side only.

Despite its Soviet-era age, the hotel is still a very good central city hotel. It is precisely in the city centre, within a 5-10 minute walk to lots of restaurants, bars, pubs, and even the opera. In the morning, there is a spectacular mountain view!

There are some sewer issues, but they are not critical.
