Location and facilities

The company car the hotel is working with wanted to charge 80 USD for a trip an UBER X made for 10. I asked the reception to call a taxi and they said they don't have their phone number... This kind of scam is not up to the standard of such a hotel. Please management change that.

Ole Sereni is a beautiful and comfortable hotel with friendly and attentive staff. The facilities are excellent, making even a longer stay pleasant and varied—for example, the gym, pool, hair studio, and multiple bars and restaurants. Additionally, the connection to the airport via the Expressway is very convenient.

Since we were out all day on most days, we opted for a room without breakfast. However, we were quite surprised to learn that breakfast costs $30 per person, with no à la carte option available. This is not ideal, especially for business travelers—after all, you don’t necessarily want to have a multi-course brunch every single day. Another inconvenience was that, even after five days, the staff kept asking whether we actually had credits on our room, meaning whether we were allowed to charge food and drinks to our room. It was a bit frustrating to have to clarify this with the staff every time we ordered a drink.

The location, the helpful and friendly staff whom were invariably cheerful, the facilities and the dining options. Being located directly opposite the Nairobi National Park there is the added interest of being able to see wildlife from the room balcony. On the evening before our departure 13 Giraffes could be seen close by with other wildlife a little further away. First rate value for money and an excellent place to stay both before and after going on safari to the more distant reserves.

Location was convenient for an overnight stay before heading to the Mara. Communication from the hotel in the lead-up to our arrival was very good. Everyone from reception to restaurant has been exceptionally friendly. Breakfast buffet was good. The view from our room across to Nairobi National Park was lovely - barring the new and rather noisy expressway - and yielded an unexpected lion sighting which was a bonus. The Emara hotel alongside has a nice rim flow pool (its facilities are open to residents of Ole Sereni) and bar, but was a bit crowded and noisy (blaring music), being a Saturday evening. Ole Sereni in contrast was idiotic, and dinner was very good. Wine prices are pure daylight robbery and corkage (of a fine SA wine we had with us) was offered at 5,000 shilling, which we declined. Stuck to Tusker beer!

The highway passing by between hotel and park by is rather noisy. However, the windows offer pretty good insulation in the rooms and the noise wasn’t a real issue, more of an eyesore, and when seated outside at the restaurant it’s pretty dominant. There is a bit of a roadside barrier at the bottom / breakfast restaurant which helps a great deal with deflecting road noise.

Staff very friendly and food excellent.

When we asked the hotel to book us a taxi to NBO they wanted $65 for a 20 minute trip, telling us prices had just gone up and it was charged per person not per vehicle. Absurd and insulting. We managed to book our own taxi for $30. The hotel should be ashamed of trying to rip their customers off like this.

breakfast was really good. the staff were really very friendly, polite and willing to help - nothing felt too burdensome. Really impressed with the overall service and professionalism of the staff - bravo!

I would have liked the bedside lamp to be bright enough for one to be able to read especially if one was not interested in watching TV. The lack of adequate lighting I found a bit of a challenge.

mainly very friendly staff. we got an upgrade after complaining about the noise due to renovation. they put us in a nice room in another tower.

the new part of the hotel had more aggressive staff in the restaurants. they pushed for tips and eating the buffet instead of ordering from the menu. the buffer food was bad. it gave me food poisoning.

I've stayed at Ole Sereni twice before, On the first of my visits I requested a Park view, They gave it to me Complimentary, On my second occasion, I had to pay a small supplement, Which wasn't a problem! On my arrival yesterday, 22/11/2023, I had just booked a room with no request, I didn't check in until 2.00pm, and as I was leaving at 6.00am for my flight home, I didn't think it was worth, paying for a park view! I did however asked the lady who checked me in, and she just seem to abruptly say, No there all full?? The fact that I couldn't have a breakfast before leaving, it could have been compensated by a park view room! When I enquired, about just getting some toast, or something light delivered to my room before leaving for the Airport, She said, they would have to charge a small fee for delivering to my room? But I could collect it from the Dinning room! I did do this, but instead of letting me just sit at a table and eat, I had to take it to my room I think this was possibly a bit dangerous taking a coffee and toast up to the room, What if a customer had got seriously burnt from spillage of the beverage, or spillage on the floor whereby someone could have slipped and had a bad accident! I just thought this was not appropriate

Comfortable, clean rooms. Lovely view of the national park from the back of the building - front faces onto a busy road but is well sound-proofed. Pleasant buffet breakfast, friendly staff although a bit slow in responding to requests. Enjoyed the heated outdoor pool and the gym.

Card access needed for the corridor as well as the room - caused a bit of hassle as we were three people staying in a room and had two key cards, so had to keep track of who was where lest we get locked out on the main landing! It's very sad that there have been dual-carriageway roads built on both sides of the hotel - it is not right on the edge of the national park as it appears in the photos. That said, you still get a good view from the rooms at the rear of the building on the higher floors.

Everything was great. We loved our first stay after arrival so much that we booked a second stay at the end of our trip. The way we were welcomed by Shadrack and his team (Nelson, Julius and Jacinta, among others)on arrival, the top service we received all through both our stays. The flexibility of the staff whenever we needed support, for instance, with having a bite when we arrived at 1AM in the night because of a flight delay. Watching giraffes, ostriches, etc right from the hotel room was a surreal experience. One made even more spectacular because we had brought our Vortex binoculars. The rooms and facilities were really nice and the fact that you can freely go to the rooftop of their sister hotel gave us the feeling of even more freedom. I personally really liked the atmosfeer that is a result of the type of fellow guests that were also present. Nice crowd. The food and drinks are excellent too. Ask Julius for his mixed chai. Yum! Really delicious bacon too. Yum! Yum! Oh yes! and of course, very efficient location if you don’t want to drive long to or from JKIA. Will be back!
