Our stay was great, we have stayed there before, so we booked the room when we were looking for hotels to stay in. My husband usually likes a hotel with the restaurant/bar included, but it was still fine that Howard did not have this, there were plenty of restaurants within driving/walking order. It was a nice quiet hotel, and we had nearly the same room that we had the last time we stayed there. Normally we like to use the pool, but since it was a little cool out yet, and their pool outside was not ready, we still got to look out back and see it, along with a black kitty cat that was having a fun time chasing the squirrels and whatnot outside.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was very large and so was the bathroom. Wifi was good and the breakfasts were better than expected. Good location a tiny bit away from the downtown area and the traffic and construction that goes along with that. Easy to get around town from this motel.

The interior decor is what most would politely call "interesting." The cleaning staff seem overwhelmed and are there all day, from before 9 until after 5. My only real complaint is the price. I know it's Traverse City, but this was by far the most expensive place we stayed on our trip, and one of the other places was a luxury bed and breakfast in a mansion. This is just an old motel.

The hotel was remodeled. Our room was beautifully redone. The bed was very comfortable and the bed covers were beautiful. The bathroom was redone beautifully with ample toiletries. Breakfast was coffee juice pancakes waffles bagels cereal granola bars and hard boiled eggs. The modern pool and pool area were very nicely done. Highly recommend this hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised w/ the cleanliness of the room and the comfortable bed. The front desk staff were so sweet upon registration and that was definitely a plus. The location was great!

The sheets were too big for the bed so upon waking up in the morning, the upper corners had snapped off on both sides. One night my hubby's corner snapped him in the face. LOL! I would have also liked 1 more shelf in the shower and a tub, as I love warming up after being out in the cold. But the shower was beautiful so not really a complaint, just a "wish".

The beds were comfortable. The person who checked us in was wonderful, and she was very quick to change our room to a ground floor 2 queen room. Same price as the single king on the second floor. Everything worked as it should.

The breakfast food was nothing I could eat as I have gluten sensitivity. It would have been nice to have a grab bar for safety in the shower. The fridge could have been bigger. The AC/heater could have had directions on how to use as the remote was worn and could not read the buttons. It worked well once we accidentally got it to cool the room.

The room was nice and spacious, even the bathroom and shower itself was a decent size. My friends and I also found the beds to be very comfortable. The pool area in the back was beautiful with flowers and plants surrounding it and there were plenty of tables and lounge chairs to just relax at.

The carpets could use a good deep cleaning as they were a bit dirty. The one main ceiling light also had a bulb or two burned out so it was a little dim but, was still fine with the other lights in the room. Their continental breakfast was also okay, but could definitely use a couple more options.

We were welcomed by very friendly receptionist. The pool area was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. this is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It was easy to get to places from there.

we were asked when we would like to have our room cleaned and fresh towels. We requested at least to come on Wednesday, and they did not come to clean.

Place was really clean, rooms are nice, pool place was beautiful and staff was really kind and helpful + good price

I think Breakfast was ok but it can be better since it’s only Breakfast items rn (cereal, muffins, waffles, pancakes and some fruits that’s it) would be nice to have eggs, sausage, bacon or that can of stuff but other than that we really liked.

The size of the room was awesome for my family. My stepmom is in a wheelchair and needs room to move around. Amenities were great. I loved that we could park right outside the room and the handicap spot was always available

The TV remote was terrible. The breakfast did not have eggs either day we were there. Mattresses had holes in the middle, you could tell they were old

Very much enjoyed our stay at Howard Johnson’s. Nice room, good breakfast, easy access to the city., and all the sights around it. Close to downtown, walkable but more than a mile away. Historic Barns Park is a great place to visit, and try “The Cottage” restaurant across the street. It’s like your grandma decided to open a home cooking place.
