The place is nicely designed and has a nice vibe. The staff were friendly too. I’d still recommend staying here because of the great location and atmosphere, but I’d go for one of the interior rooms next time — probably much quieter!

Our room we had faced the street and didn’t have any soundproofing, so it was super hard to get any sleep with cars passing by all night. Also, when we went to check out around 8 a.m., there was no one at reception and no one answered the phone. We ended up leaving our bags in the room and contacted them by email — they did reply to that quickly.

The location is good. It’s clean. Cute murals and spiral staircase. Allowed us to keep our bags till the train departed. Early check in at 12 instead of 2 or 3. Late check out was 12:30.

Crossing the road is a challenge. Warning not to lose the key as soon as we came in. Deco was minimal compared to the ones In malacca for a heritage house. The attic room could be better if they had a skylight. Sadly covered up because leaked. Small bar of soup with a plastic dish. Only shampoo and conditioner no soap for shower. Had complimentary toothbrushes and shaving kits. Almost RM 300 a night mmm

Walking distance to the highlights of Ipoh's Heritage Trail. Close to little antique shops at Panglima Lane and many bustling eateries at Concubine Lane. Many heritage museums such as Arlene's House, Ho Yat Hor Museum and Ipoh World are also nearby. There are 2 convenience stores (KK SuperMart / 99 Speedmart) about 5 mins walk from the hotel although they are in opposite direction of the tourist area. Authentic heritage building with historic setting room. The hotel itself is worth exploring to appreciate the architecture. Spacious room and modern toilet. The adjoining Lim Kopitiam building is also owned by the hotel and serves great breakfast. Mention being hotel guests for a discount. Their coffee is also provided inside the hotel room and can be purchased from the cafe.

The floor is uneven so be careful in the dark or always leave some lights on. The area surrounding the hotel gets quiet at night with few eateries open after dark so be sure to grab dinner before heading back.

Great location near Concubine Lane and the old part of Ipoh, easy 10 minute walk from the train station. Rooms were clean with air-conditioning. There's a toilet available to use after you check out. The check-in time said 2 pm to 8 pm but the hotel had a staff member available to check me in when I arrived at 11 pm. Staff was very nice.

The hotel is cash only. The beds were a little too hard. The WiFi was only allowed for one device. There's no secure storage to leave luggage for before/after check-in times, it's just on a counter out in the open. The shower only had conditioner and body soap to use, not shampoo. These were minor annoyances, overall the place was a great stay.

Large, spacious and very charming rooms. Nicely designed. Has a classy, colonial feel. Very friendly service. Big, comfortable bed. Good central location - near Concubine Lane and old part of Ipoh. Walking distance from the train station.

The centre of the room has split-level type of sunken area, with a step - which looks great but is a trip hazard. Keep in mind if travelling with elderly. Bathroom a bit dark - especially with the dark decor.

Tasteful heritage furnishings and well renovated/updated. Good bathrooms! Very clean throughout. Nice common areas and the building is quiet. Security seemed quite good. Very central location convenient to train station, old town and little India, as well as places to eat.

They only take cash on arrival, no credit cards, which is inconvenient and unexpected considering it is advertised as a three-star boutique hotel. The room price per night is not a budget price (by Malaysian standards), and the room and hotel amenities are very minimal considering the price.

Lovely heritage hotel, good location, a well-appointed room and a comfy bed. All the staff were helpful and friendly. There was a nice little garden area outside our window and there was very little traffic noise (our room was not facing the main road).

The lighting in the bathroom could be improved as it was quite dark; also the tap needs fixing in the Pink Jambu room as it is loose and constantly dripping water.

The hotel was a goldsmith shop repurposed into a hotel, it still retained the past vibe mixed with modern decor and amenities. It's spacious and comfortable. We had a wooden tub in the room, so interesting, gave a cowboy mining town feel to the room. Location is also within walking distance of the old coffee shops, mural lane, concubine lane and other famous landmarks in the old town.

You have to pay everything by cash so make sure you have change. There is no designated drop off area, the car will stop on the road just in front of hotel. The hotel will also only give one keycard. Water pressure is just okay, not that strong.

Lovely b&b was like stepping back in time: antiques filled the common spaces and the building has been beautifully restored. The bed was very comfortable and the in-room air conditioning very effective. The tin cups and Ipoh white coffee were a very nice touch. Located in the old town, it was only a few minutes’ walk from all the major sites and majority of the restaurants - and also not far from the train station.

Wonderful people at Sarang Paloh. They was very responsive and helpful during the booking process. When we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming and chatty. Check in was straightforward and we felt like we were friends of the hotel. The location is great! The local staff gave us good info about where to eat and where to go. Comfortable beds.

I guess if i had to pick something that I didn't like, i'd suggest a deep clean for the sofa/couch in the room. Unlike beds, these don't have linens that get changed.
