Fantastic location in the heart of Bukit Bintang, walking distance to so many eateries and bars. Had a view of (1) petronas tower from our bedroom window. Good selection of breakfasts, complimentary with our booking, fresh barista coffee each morning. Small but very clean room with complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee maker. Room serviced every day. Rooftop pool has a good vibe and a great view. Staff were friendly and helpful, security at the door always friendly and happy to help. 5 minute walk to monorail and train station.

A Heartwarming Stay at Our Favorite KL Spot The Journal has always held a special place in our hearts whenever we visit Kuala Lumpur—especially when the trip is all about shopping and indulging in delicious food! This was our first time back after Covid, and to our delight, the area is now buzzing with even more eateries just steps away from the hotel. Staying here for almost 10 nights with my parents felt like coming home. The hotel truly elevated our experience—every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. We would gladly give a 10/10 for everything, except the breakfast. While it was still enjoyable, we felt the Asian options could use a little more variety, as breakfast is something we genuinely look forward to each morning. What truly made our stay extra special, though, were the incredible team members who went above and beyond for us. A heartfelt thank you to Syamil, Rohaizad, Khadaq, and Aanamul—you were all so warm, attentive, and kind, always greeting us with the brightest smiles and genuine care. Your hospitality truly touched us and made our time here unforgettable. Thank you so much once again—The Journal will always be our top choice in KL!

The Asian/Malaysian breakfast selections could be improved in terms of variety and taste

The staff works fast and are very friendly and helpful. The room is very tidy and water is replenished everyday. Amenities are provided on the ground floor, such as dental and shaving kit, soap and shampoo are also provided in the bathroom. The air conditioner works well and can chill the room relatively quickly. The wifi is quite fast as well. There is a swimming pool and a gym on the top floor with a nice view of the city. Convenient location as well because it's quite near to Bukit Bintang MRT Station and various malls.

Main complaint is that there is only 1 chair and no sofas in the 3 person room, so we had to sit on the floor before taking a shower to not dirty the bed. Secondly, there were some sticky stuff on the walls and the corner of the TV, it's not really visible unless you look at it at an angle where light shines on it, but it is there.

The clealines was admirable. The personal welcome note was full of warmth and was welcoming. The staff was amazing, especially Adam at Reception.

The view was a wee bit disappointing, but it does have a window. Some places don't and am grateful this room had windows. The drinks and welcome snack were provided for 2 persons even though it was booked for 3 people.

The breakfast options on Asian food could be improved in terms of variety and taste!

The location, the staff and the hotel vibes are immaculate. Shoutout to Syamil and colleagues at the reception as well as the doorman for being very welcoming and service-oriented. They are ready to assist us with any requests needed. Pleasantly surprised our stay included tea time and unlimited coffee refills at the coffee shop. Parking is also provided at RM10 for hotel guests (multiple entries).

Nothing really. The only feedback for improvement is to also provide ironing board if a guest requests for an iron. Also, saw a sign for the gym but wasn’t able to find it. Not sure if it’s under maintenance or hard to find. The pool was lovely for a quick dip with friends.

The location was great, so convenient for getting around, close to the hustle & bustle but also very quiet at night. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The staff were all super friendly and polite.

The room was a little small for 3 of us and there was barely any storage space for our clothes let alone the 3 suitcases that came with us. We spoke to the manager who was very helpful and agreed to give us the adjoining room at no extra cost once it became available which was day 3 of a 7 day stay. Once we had this extra room we were able to relax and enjoy the stay a lot more.

I recently stayed at the KL Journal Hotel and was very satisfied with my experience. The room was very spacious, the bed was soft and comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure – a real plus! I also appreciated the complimentary water and Jus provided every day. The room was quiet, which made for a very relaxing stay. The pool was a nice feature and perfectly sufficient for a city hotel. However, I did find the loud music a bit disturbing when the bar area opened. What really stood out to me was the location – absolutely fantastic! Almost everything was within walking distance, which made exploring the city super convenient. Overall, a great choice for anyone wanting comfort and an unbeatable central location. I'd definitely stay here again!

The rooms were clean and generally well-maintained, although housekeeping was occasionally not very thorough—sometimes a few crumbs were left on the floor. However, this is really just a minor complaint and not a big issue overall. One thing that bothered me more was the loud music at the pool bar during the day I spent at the pool. It made it a bit difficult to relax there. Despite these small points, I still enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel.

Nice & friendly staff, amazing location, and great buffet breakfast. The guy who runs the breakfast service … even tapped on my taxi window (bound for the airport) offering me a takeaway coffee! The only reason I’m not giving them a 10/10… is because I accidentally left my wallet (with all my bank cards) back in New Zealand (yes, my own fault) and only had paywave/visa on my phone…. I asked if I could pay them with my phone/visa in order to get some cash (given the circumstances) and they wouldn’t allow it. Would still recommend the hotel :)

The hotel is conveniently situated at walking distance to the malls in Bukit Bintang. The service was excellent during our stay. The concierge and receptionist were very welcoming and helpful. Our requests were all met even though it was a last minute booking. The bed was very comfortable and the cleanliness was up to standard, although like all hotels, do not look too closely in corners. Complimentary water and packet drinks were provided in the room which were replenished daily. Breakfast was good with enough variety. Complimentary tea time refreshments and dessert were provided at night. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly return to The Kuala Lumpur Journal hotel.

The pool area could do with some remodeling to keep up with the wonderful experience that we had in the other parts of the hotel.
