The property is tired, some areas are a little shabby but doesn’t affect your stay. Food was a big hit and miss . I stayed in March , there is only one restaurant so limited options Hotel bar is very dark like a nightclub, the music so loud it was impossible to ask for a drink. I’m a mid 60 year old and just fancied a nice cocktail . Was told no cocktails available as the bartender was on holiday . Only choice was beer or soft drinks . I’m not a beer drinker. Also had a facial , which I didn’t enjoy at all . Wasn’t in the least relaxing

The view is superb. The bed and pillows is comfortable. The room is big. The bar lounge and staff was great and friendly

The toilet is smelly we have to clean it before using cos it stinks. They dont provide toothbrush and toothpaste. The egg station male staff is not friendly. NO WIFI in the room

We had lovely time in Damai Beach Resort. Since the receptioninst made a mistake and put into the wrong category of accomodation, we have seen both. Invest into the premium category, you will not regret it. That part of the hotel is a paradise. The standart category is ok but it doesnt even get half way to the experience you get on the top of the hill. There are great pools in the resort and you practically have the beach for yourself.

Wifi connection was really bad (definitely the worst we have experienced anywhere in Malaysia and Indonesia through out our 6 weeks of trevelling). Also the hotel staff gave us wrong rooms (standart instead of premium) for the first night and they didnt seem to bother. However after a talk with the manager, everything was solved immediatelly.

We were very happy during our stay at Damai Beach Resort in Kuching. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with a beautiful view of the sea. We really enjoyed the breakfast—there was a good variety of local and Western food, and everything was fresh and tasty. Sorry we did not use the pool, never did in all our travels.

We did notice that the surrounding area could be better maintained, as there were some debris around. It would be even better if the resort could clean up the surroundings more regularly. Overall, we still had a wonderful and relaxing time there.

Staff were excellent, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The room was fantastic, we really appreciated the little luxuries like slippers and water bottles. It was very clean. The view from the balcony was incredible. We had a hill top room so used the top pool which was clean and well attended. Food in the restaurant was always delicious and very reasonably priced. Although we had to take a shuttle between room and facilities, this was always very quick and the drivers were very professional and friendly. We cannot express how excellent the staff were. Even the manager greeted us personally!

We couldn’t get WiFi in our room or in the hilltop at all, only in the restaurant. Not a big problem for us but might frustrate others. The location felt a little remote, not many shops etc nearby. Perhaps there was more, we didn’t explore much as only had a couple of days

The room, excellent condition with a beautiful view. The location of the room was very convent for us to get to the beach, cafe and pool. The room was very well kept and the information in the room related to the cafe and the facility was up to date. Well done Damai Beach Resort.

I would say the breakfast was around 4 over 10. May be it was just our taste but frankly it was better last April or during all our visits these past years the past, we have been going to Damai every year.

We had a wonderful experience at Damai. The restaurant food was excellent. We were offered with great price to enjoy the Ramadan dinner buffet. It was our first time joining the crowd at the poolside. We enjoy the festive atmosphere. The decoration, music in the evening are memorable.

The facilities at Damai need some refurbishments. Not enough parking lots especially during holidays.

Located near the beach, with views of the ocean & Mount Santubong. Spacious, clean room with rustic charm of teak & marble and traditional Sarawak craftsmanship, similar vibe to Club Med Phuket. Comfy bedding. Aircon & shower heater functioning. Bathtub & bathroom tiles not slippery when wet. Staff are friendly & helpful, esp. Satang Cafe staff, pool staff & porter/shuttle bus drivers esp. Ramzi who always make sure the kids & I are well looked after. Breakfast was basic, but the taste was flavoursome - love the butter croissant, mee goreng. The a-la-carte menu was great too - love the beef burger & lamb chops. Room service 24 hours. Convenience store at the lobby, opens 9am to 9pm. Within walking distance to Santubong Park, Cultural Village, Damai Central, Permai Rainforest. Guests can collect & eat the mangoes that fell off the trees, esp. the parents snacking on the mangoes at the children pool. We saw a few monkeys & some local cats too.

Mosquito, itchy bugs at Hilltop Pool change rooms & at the roadside if walking between Lobby and Hilltop (we decided to walk instead of taking the shuttle bus). Then, we use Palmers Coconut Oil Lotion as mosquito repellent which was effective.

Comfy beds and clean room, overall worth the money, will come again for sure

No hot tape water or hot water in the shower, but luckily the room temperature can be controlled and its wasn't too cold in the night. Breakfast was mediocre and not a lot of varieties but okay lah when its includes in the room rates

The clean beach environment & nice blue sea + swimming pool facilities

Damai Beach Resort before covid pandemic was one of the best beach resort nearest to Kuching City. Presently, the beach environment & view is still the best but pity the hotel building & pavement is a bit run down probably due to lack of budget. It need more guest to give it better business & income so that it can survive & improves its image just like 10 years ago. Collaboration with Sarawak Cultural Village, Damai Central & Sarawak Tourism Board is very essential to bring in more tourist be it abroad or local. The hotel fees need to be more reasonable as presently, its on the high side compare to the run fown facilities available. But the damai staff never give up & always give their best thus the management should take the initiatives or else the hey days will be gone for good.
