A continental breakfast was included and then we found out half way through our stay that we could use our breakfast coupon towards a more substantial breakfast. We wish we had known that sooner. We liked that we were so close to the Malecon and many restaurants. A grocery store was just a block away, and having a refrigerator, we could buy some provisions. The staff were exceptional. Very friendly. The pool area was quite nice. We had stayed at Hotel Rosita the last time we were in PVR, but they were fully booked. El Pescador is Rosita's sister hotel, and we actually liked it better- a quieter area.

The reason for a lower rating was that the wifi was so spotty we had to go to the nearby Starbucks everyday if we wanted reliable wifi. That was the major issue. (If trying to keep in touch with family back home.) Also this year's stay was a great value for our money, but we were very disappointed when we looked online for next year that the cost for a room has basically doubled (about $200/night)!! It is a basic hotel. We are now looking at other optioins in PVR and elsewhere in Mexico.

The breakfast provided was not adequate. The location was great. The hotel was very nice. Gorgeous view, nice beach. Our only complaint was that there was no control over who had access to the lounge chairs around the pool. By early morning all the chairs were already 'claimed' by guest who placed their towels on the chairs....often not even using the chairs until early afternoon. We found the lack of control of use to be really irritating and, frankly, extremely rude by other hotel guests who were preventing access for many hour of the day.

See comment above. Also, we were disappointed to not have an ocean view but I guess that's what happens when you book through an agency (in this case, Booking.com).

Fantastic and authentic Mexican style hotel right on the beach! The staff are incredibly friendly and they do everything they can to make your stay wonderful. I was extremely comfortable in our beds as they are on the firmer side, and the extra blankets were nice when the A/C got a little too cold. We could have turned it off most nights, but we were to exhausted lol. The breakfast was great, the lite breakfast is a simple offering of toasted bread, fruit, oj, and coffee. They offer a buffet and ala carte menu that is very affordable. It was lovely to have a pool and direct access to the beach. And the VIEW IS OUT OF THIS WORLD! Location is absolutely perfect as you can easy walk to most areas and there are tons of local vendors just out the doors with delicious offerings at an extremely affordable rate. The sound of the ocean is heard throughout the hotel, and it's very relaxing. We barely heard our neighbors (and it was extremely busy with families), and again the VIEW! I also couldn't believe the beautiful chocolate cake, flowers, and very kind note prepared for our 10th anniversary! I offered to pay extra for it, but they told me it was a gift for us. Safety is 10/10 as there's alway a security person on site. I am truly grateful to have experienced this beautiful family owned hotel! I'd definitely encourage you to book your stay here, it was the perfect place to discover Puerto Vallarta. Thank you from a very grateful and impressed guest to the entire team of Hotel El Pescador! We'll be back to see you again soon!

Absolutely Nothing to criticize! The place exceeded our expectations and our entire stay was excellent!

The location was fantastic. Walking distance to great restaurants and the main area of downtown, right on the beach, easy to Uber as needed. Nice pool right next to the beach access. Ocean view was awesome from our third floor rooms which faced the ocean, absolutely a must to get rooms on the ocean side.

The beds were very hard, the restaurant was just okay, nothing special. The staff were mixed, some people where very friendly but some where not too friendly. Not rude, just acted put out.

The breakfest was ok. A continental breaky is included in the price but that only includes a few pieces of bread, 3 or so pieces of fruit a glass of juice and a coffee (or tea). If you pay 99 peso you can have the buffet. Fairly bland scrambled eggs, a nacho dish (can't recall the name right now), beans and fruit. Also pancakes and french toast. These were both pretty good. Coffee was nice and hot. Basically an adequate breaky.

The hot dishes and fruit trays were sometimes empty. Staff needs to monitor this better.

View and the pounding surf are excellent. It's wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to the peaceful sound. Cleaning staff are very hard working and do their jobs well. Many fabulous restaurants and cafes nearby. Fridge in view rooms only. Extra blankets and pillows in closet. Drinking water is available in 20L bottles on each floor.

Restaurant service was truly PITYFUL. It took more than 10 minutes to get a menu and then eveyone ignored us. They didn't return take our food order. After another 15 minutes of trying to get someones attention we finally walked out and went elsewhere. The 3 wait staff were more interested in serving people drinks at the poolside as it was the start of 'happy hour'. There was only three other tables inside the restaurant that had patrons. The staff are so totally disorganized and definitely need someone to take charge and manage the food services. From what I can see from the other reviews it's an ongoing problem and someone responsible needs to correct this problem. We never returned to eat or drink here over our 7 day stay. Even for the free breakfast.

A continental breakfast was provided free of charge each day of our 4-wk stay, however if you wanted, you could apply your continental breakfast coupon to any menu item or the breakfast buffet as a discount. So the flexibility was great.

Our beds were very firm the first night, however when we asked front desk about this, house keeping came immediately with pillow-topper mattress pads for the beds, that made them a lot more plush and they were excellent!

Great hotel and great price. Pictures are diseaving though for continental breakfast, you only get 1 kind of fruit, picture shows a fruit plate, I think more fruit, bigger slices of toasted bread, yogurt, granola, cereal would be a better way to go for continental as it wasn't enough. Other than that, everything was great!

Check in and check out was quick and easy. My room was clean and housekeeping did a good job maintaining it. All of the staff was friendly. Also I love being able to access the beach so easily. Plus there are plenty of restaurants near by.

I believe the hotel is used for functions and possible to rent out the pool area. There was a wedding going on at the pool. The next few days there were a lot of people at the pool. At times the music and people could get rather loud. Normally the noise stopped about 9 or 10pm, so it wasn't too bad for me. If noise bothers you then I highly suggest not having a room near the pool or restaurant area. I can't speak for all of the rooms, but my room was located near the pool area and I could hear everything.

- The ocean view room had a good size + lovely balcony. I appreciated falling asleep to the sound of the waves :) - The hotel has a cute vintage quality to it - Location is absolutely perfect - The staff was very nice and I enjoyed the pool (until tons of unsupervised kids transformed it into a daycamp 😅)

- The included continental breakfast and coffee were of very poor quality. Would have preferred a coffee maker in the room. - Some of the equipment has seen better days, renovation/upgrades needed (stairs, pool chairs, balcony chairs, remotes) - I stayed an extra night and they charged me almost 3x what i had paid for the first.
