Location, especially if you are a gay man, could not be better. Sitting right on a beautiful stretch of beach in the heart of the gay section and extremely close to all the gay hot spots, it doesn’t get better than this. If you’re not gay, it’s still fantastic as the beach is very family friendly and there’s tons of great dining from excellent street food to high end, beachfront dining, and lots of activities right outside your door. And it’s an easy walk to the malecon and the Centro for a more hetero experience. Very close to the pier for the boat charters and people watching. Safe area as well. Staff is very helpful and the breakfast is a good value. Lots of beach chairs and loungers, and umbrellas and palapas for shade with full service for food and drinks. You can pay to go to a nearby beach club too, but the hotel provides chairs for guests included in the price. Lots of stairs to navigate so take note if you have mobility issues.

Rooms are dated and some staff can be brusque, but for the price and location, I’ll take it any day. Excessive beach vendors so you should learn at least 2 words of Spanish if you’re not interested in buying: no, gracias. On the other hand, you can go shopping from your beach chair for everything from clothes, massages, jewelry, hats, sunglasses, fresh oysters, fruit, and much more. Vendors are nice, aren’t pushy, and are unlikely to disturb you if engrossed in a book. Vallarta is a party town in a poor country so a little grace goes a long way.

My room had no real windows, there was lots of hair from previous guests, I emailed and asked for a fridge in my room and was told it could be accommodated but when I arrived they said they have no fridges.

This was a really nice hotel. I'd been to other Tropicana properties in Vegas and remembered them to be a bit dated. This spot was great! Very comfortable, beautiful view, great location, really kind staff. The beach chair/umbrella, beach service is unbeatable. We saved so much money by choosing a hotel with beach access so we didn't have to go to any beach clubs or bars to find a nice place to sit.

This is not a spot you can work remotely from. Come prepared to unplug, as even phone service in the stucco building isn't reliable. I took a couple calls from the beach and sent a few emails from the lobby and it was no problem, but make sure you know what you're signing up for. We saw some mean customer screaming at the staff about his wifi, but it was very apparent what to expect from the reviews before booking. Don't be that guy.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had two huge balconies with ocean view. Pool and beach area were nice. Easy to get chairs at beach, the pool harder. You need to be ready at 9:00 AM to get pool spot. Despite other reviews about WiFi we had great wifi and what appeared to be a router on our room. Staff were excellent very helpful. Beds were comfortable. Things to improve on. Need mats rubber in bathroom shower area as it is all slick tile someone could easily fall. I put towels down in shower and outside of the shower but that took away from towels to use. Resturant food was not good had to go outside hotel. Would be nice to have a fridge and coffeemaker. If you have mobility issues the location is challenging. The hotel is accessible but leaving from hotel requires a walk in the beach in sand or down and up hills. It was hard to uses walker and cane.

I have been to the Tropicana numerous times, I felt this time they have upped their game. Wifi is so much better than it was. You used to have to get up at 6am and stand in line to get a beach chair it was insane. They have increased the number of chairs and umbrellas and we never didnt get a chair. not even mid afternoon. The long term guests still seem to get the pool chairs. They have opened the bar by the beach with swing chairs and have made a wooden boat for the kids on the beach. Staff as always very friendly. Its a bit older hotel but wonderful and the price is right

If you have trouble walking it myght not be the best location, but allows you to wear off the tacos and beer

ANA BERTHA IN FRONT DESK WAS VERY HELPFUL AND VERY NICE. LIKED THE LOCATION. CLOSE TO MANY GOOD RESTAURANTS. THE ONE IN THE HOTEL WAS VERY POOR!

All anyone needs for a great holiday, I will return again and again. Many people I met there are repeat guests. It is located on the beach and offers swimming pools with ocean views. Waiter service at both locations, a range of deck and beach chairs, and good quality beach towels provided. I was instantly in a happy place. Very easy-going staff, friendly and genuine, knowledgeable and helpful. There are lots of other beach restaurants close by with high-quality food at great prices. You're in a fishing town, seafood cannot be fresher. Cafes on the town side and nightlife are all close by. There are lots of day trips in the area, I couldn't pull myself away from the hotel, beach, and town to do them. Thank you Hotel Tropicana.

Our 11th stay at the Tropicana. Beachfront location is the best and close proximity to great restaurants and other in town activities.

WIFI is still almost non-existant except for the Lobby area. We had a great room but even after staying many times you can't always count on it. Booking a Superior Oceanfront room with a 3rd party like Booking.com is better than booking directly with the Tropicana. They will tell you that they can't guarantee oceanfront unless you book a Junior suite. It would also be fantastic if they added a mini fridge and coffee maker to rooms. The mattresses were upgraded a few years ago so they are quite comfortable and not too hard. We will be back next year😉

This beautiful hotel was more than I expected. From the entrance to the hotel, the reception area, both very inviting. The restaurant was in the middle of everything, a gorgeous palapa set up with tables and a view to kill. There were 2 pools adjacent to each other. 1 family and 1 for adults. There is a great beach area set up with chairs and umbrellas. The beach was really nice too. The staff are very attentive and everyone was so nice.

The security should make sure the kids stay out of the adult side. It probably would help if the receptionists would make that pool rule clear to all guests. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful ocean view. The bathroom shower curtain was just a bit short, so the water always wet the floor.

The hotel is older. Some furniture has some chips out of the paint but it was clean and the staff was friendly. They were constantly cleaning. The beds were not too hard. It is not like some of the higher end all inclusives which are designed for tourists only. There was just one restaurant/bar were the food and service were good. There are a lot of places to eat, drink or shop very close. The South end of the Malecon starts in front of this hotel which gives you a lot of options. Location is ideal.

The hotel has a unique architectural style which includes lots of steps to watch for. There are ramps beside the steps bit at first you have to keep an eye out.
