Lot of attention to detail in this cute hotel at the very end of the famous Paseo Montejo. The entrance and main interior patio are lush with mature plants. The building is historic and very well kept. The interior decorating seems to be a gradual accumulation of ornaments and furniture - someone with a certain vision had a hand in the decorating. Rooms are cool, sizeable, and the beds are comfortable. Bathroom is clean with excellent water pressure. Very friendly lobby staff. Free parking locating in a guarded and closed garage that has space for maybe 8 vehicles. Very reasonably priced, especially given the centrality of the location.

Various others have commented on this as well, and there’s a point to be made about the included breakfast. The service, I’m sorry to say, starts too late. Once staff turn on the lights in the (pretty) restaurant by about 7:30/7:40 then a lot of tourists would already be hoping to be on their way for the day. The breakfast itself is simple (hot drink, fruit plus toast) but it does seem like a bit of a cheap deal, to be honest. Why not raise the price a tat and then offer a decent variety of breakfasts?

Great place to be if you are in Merida. Loved the hotel and the location. The WiFi was good. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby.

The breakfast is continental, so keep that in mind, but there are a lot of different options nearby.

A stunningly beautiful setting and reception with beautiful plants everywhere. Everywhere u look there are imaginative details creating a lovely space.

Breakfast. They should either serve a decent breakfast with good grace or not do it at all. They have a lovely dining room but it just isn’t appealing to go in! On our first morning the waiter met us and told us to choose a pastry “just one” and said he would bring it over with coffee and a small plate of fruit. This was repeated each morning but without a single smile, the selection of pastries sometimes being very small and stale. I have no idea why we continued to have the breakfast as we could have simply gone out.

The moment you arrive at the front of Casa San Angeles you know you’ve made the right decision. A lush entryway to a historic, colonial building greets your arrival. As you pass through tall wooden doors, you have to stop and take in the two story courtyard. Well done murals painted by a local artist colorfully cover the walls & hide critters of the jungle. There is a cenote feel, with vines and plants filling the space. There you will be greeted by the most friendly and helpful staff. -Angelica is a gem, so pleasant and amazing at helping us arrange things like car rental. The charm continues with inviting balconies at the entrance to a beautiful, and comfortable room. —also, the galleries at the entrance have the highest quality art we saw in town. All the amenities are covered. Big walk in rain shower with a huge head. Cute paint, lots of horizontal surfaces for spreading out, robes, safe, ice, cool & hot drinking water, pastry & fruit breakfast. Hotel Casa San Angeles is perfectly located. Within walking distance (6 blocks) to El Centro/Zocalo/Municipal buildings where you can catch the city tours bus & see the murals of the Maya people history. It is right off Calle Gastronómico, with the great restaurants like Manjar Blanco & Los Cantaritos and down from a nice park with a food court for the cheaper food & fruit drinks. The Cyclovia event on Sundays when they close the nice road Montejo for bikes, skaters & walkers, starts right at their plaza. Dances and performances are often within a block. There was a “Fiesta Mex icana” on our Friday and we could hear it, along with some city noise, but it wasn’t really anything unusual from any city hotel. BTW- Don’t miss Ki Xocolatl for an awesome chocolate experience. I had a 14oz “shot” of straight cacao, that comes with powdered anchiote, pepper, habanero, cinnamon & sugar to add and play with. I love the habanero, cinnamon & a drop of sugaar!

Breakfast was included in my rate - it was an Americano coffee, a salad plate of fresh cut fruit, and a fresh baked good of my choice. Other more robust options were available for extra cost. I did this one morning and it was delicious. Service in restaurant and housekeeping was excellent. Fresh towels every day & ceiling fan in bathroom. Front desk staff was very helpful and made everything simple. Very good location! Amazing decor!

None of this is a big deal to me, but, FYI: You don't have to leave your room key at the front desk when you leave for an outing, but you can. The outside door is locked at dusk, so you ring a bell to get in. Our room (Room 112 - 2 twin beds) didn't have a refrigerator. I will check closer next time about that.

The location was great, the private parking was much appreciated and the courtyard of the hotel is the main highlight! Staff was wonderful and they close the hotel doors for the night, which makes it feel very safe.

1. Too much noise in the room (room 110): - there were some ventilators/motors right under our window which were switched on between 7-8 in the morning until about 18 in the evening. - the bar next door had loud karaoke/band nights every evening with loud singing and cheering until 2am. Bring earplugs if you want to get any sleep earlier than that! 2. The breakfast is very basic - a pastry, coffee and a fruit plate (more like 2 slices of pineapple and watermelon) - therefore we opted for breakfast outside in one of the many nearby cafes. To be fair, it was as advertised, but just a bit too basic compared to complimentary breakfasts we had in other hotels during our stay.

The location was very fine for us. Being closer to the cathedral means more traffic and noise. The walking distance from the hotel to the cathedral makes that you are in a more quiet environment. The walking distance is maybe 15 minutes max. The breakfast is diversifying. The included breakfast (continental) was more than expected with fresh pressed coffee (capucino), a choice of many beautiful pastries (made on site) and fresh fruit. You can also choose breakfast "a la carte". The whole place is an experience! The decor, the woodwork (Mexican mahogany), the natural garden, the courtyard and the owner's 2 live-in parrots make this place very special!

I hate to say something a little negative about this place because we like it so much, but the hot water was probably our only issue. It is apparently solar heated and takes a long time to arrive in your shower, waisting lots of it. If I were to correct something, that would be it.

We stayed in Hotel Boutique Casa San Angel one night only. The hotel is beautiful, when entreing the internal courtyard feels like you entered a jungle, with loads of tress, plants, birds... magnificent really! The room was on the first floor, it was spacious, beautifully decorated (ne of the best we have seen, really), provided with fridge, air conditioning and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also very big, clean, and the shower probably one of the best of our 14 days tour around the Yucatan peninsula The wi-fi worked perfectly. They also have a secure parking 5min. from the hotel. I was a bit concerned the location was a bit far from the city centre but actually we realised that this is not very far (about 20min walk). The streets between the hotel and the city centre are actually full of restaurants and cool bars, so in reality we had a lot of choices for dinner just round the corner

I think the breakfast could be improved in regard to quality and quantity. Personal suggestion is to not book the breakfast at the hotel and head out to the nearest cafe, you can have much more choices and more value for money

This is a very clean, comfortable hotel with a very attentive staff and great location. The daily breakfast (coffee, fresh fruit, and a pastry) was exactly what I wanted to start my day and the perfect way to meet my friends to plan our day.

This is a minor complaint, but I wish there was a way to turn on the shower without having to stand under the spray so that the water reaches the proper temperature first. I couldn't figure out a way to do this without water spraying onto the bathroom floor.

Friendly staff, great location, music performances right outside on Saturday night. Beautiful inside. Free continental breakfast - Great tasting coffee, small plate of fresh fruit, choice of pastries and breads. Because the hotel is small (14 rooms) some of the pastries were stale as they were left over from the day before. I learned to ask which ones were fresh. I was surprised that i had to pay for a second cup of coffee. It seemed cheap for a hotel charging $200 CAD per night.
