We absolutely loved our stay at Basecamp Amsterdam. It completely exceeded our expectations. The Wikkelhouse House is gorgeous and was much more spacious than we had expected. Our children had bunk beds which were in their own little room. They loved it! It was quiet, cosy and incredibly comfortable and had everything you needed to be self sufficient (should you wish to be, there is also an amazing bio farm shop next door!) - Basecamp does have a bar which serves food and we had delicious pizzas one night. We also had a hot tub which was a real treat! We made use of the sauna (stunning) and the club house (bar and games room) and we also hired bikes. The staff were excellent, really friendly, helpful and very responsive. We really loved being in an urban location surrounded by open space and so much wildlife and nature. We had the most relaxing time here. We made the most of slow relaxing mornings at Basecamp and chose to visit Amsterdam Old town each afternoon which for us provided the perfect balance. To get to Amsterdam centre we used the train (a 5 min drive to Halfweg - with free parking, and then a 10 min journey to Centraal) and on one day we cycled. I would highly recommend Basecamp Amsterdam. We loved it so much! Thank you Basecamp!

Nothing at all.

The location is little far from the main city. But it has good connectivity. Bus stop is a 10 min walk and train station is 8 min drive with free parking. The room was very good. Bed was comfortable.A small kitchenette is provided. You can make full meals. Everything is provided. The staff were pretty great in general! The only negative I have for this property is : one of the curtains were off the rack and it was just beside the bathroom. Even though we notified and requested them to look into it at the reception, nobody took action and we had to stay in the room for 3 nights.

+ roomy rooms with a kitchennette, sitting area and the rooftop + the bed was super comfy to sleep on + the whole complex

- the build quality - uneven shower area, water doesn’t flow - simple breakfast - location is not good if you like to visit town (25 mins walking to the nearest bus stop, 30-35 mins bike ride to the city) - reception closes at 21:00

Wonderful location for a getaway from Amsterdam. Comfortable large room with a nice view and a cute balcony. The bed is extremely comfortable

We have booked the spa barn and were not told in advance that the sauna in the barn was broken and we had to walk to the non-private sauna they have outside. I asked if it would be private still and they said yes but when we still had 30minutes of “our time” there I saw people going to the sauna. I’m not the kind of person to tell people to leave, so I just rolled with it, but I do not think that it’s okay to charge us full price of the spa when it’s not longer private and also not telling us in advance about the sauna being broken. I was really looking to a private experience. Also, all the cups and glasses in the room were really dusty.

Loved the setup in the lighthouse with the hot tub and plenty of beds to sleep our family. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked, and the peaceful setting was calming and relaxing. The hot tub was constantly heated and ready to go when we wanted it. We enjoyed the entire resort, with walking tracks, bikes to rent, swings and a trampoline. Highly recommend going to the farm next door to stock up on supplies.

My 10-year-old slept downstairs on the sofa bed and got bitten all over by an insect. No one else had any problems. The shower was open, allowing water to flow out into the entire bathroom. It was a bit of a walk from the car park, but luggage carts were provided. The hot tub got a little slimy on day two, but all in all, it was a fabulous addition to our accommodation.

Very cool (big) “tiny house” on the outskirts of Amsterdam - the distance was a 15-20 drive to the city center, it goes with the outdoorsy exprierience and was quite manageable. We had the Barn. 2 level tiny house with a lower living area: great kitchen area, big dining table, nice if a bit worn sofa (but we were in the dog-friendly version so that was fine) and 2 lounge chairs so everyone can hang out. A huge bay window opens to a small deck were everyone can hang out (the neighboring tiny houses also have decks on this side). The upper level which also has the bay window has a master bedroom with a big bed and another almost boat cabin space with a double bed. Big comfy pillows and duvets. On the same floor is the shower. Good A/C. The whole compound is charming, full of nature greenery as a pond. The reception has a big outdoor deck where a decent standard breakfast can be had. Staff was friendly and the entire experience is very very dog-friendly. The compound is ideal for walking the dog Parking is free

The only minor drawback is that the compound is on the flight path of an accessory runway of Schipol airport. This means that there are times of the year where at certain times of the day if you are outside or the bay window is open you really hear the noise. This wasn’t a dealbreaker.

Beautiful area, we had a lot of fun exploring nearby on bikes, including the neighboring farms. There’s a nice park if you have kids and the main village also has a small playground for kids. It is not too far from Amsterdam, which you can reach by renting a bike directly from them. Welcome drink was a nice touch.

We got a unit with a hot tub, which was not warm enough and also slimy. We gave feedback to reception. Some fixtures in our unit were broken, like the toilet flusher and the shower door. Also, you are right on the flight path, so it takes away from some peacefulness, but overall, when you consider that you are near a major city and not on a country getaway, it’s not that bad.

The place had a cool, quirky vibe that we really enjoyed, and our teen kids loved it. The hot tub was a great bonus, and all the facilities were spotless. It was nice to be a little removed from the chaos of Amsterdam — peaceful and relaxing — but still super quick and easy to get into the city centre. I was a little wary about the comments mentioning planes flying overhead, but my husband, who’s an aerospace enthusiast, was absolutely delighted! We didn’t hear any during the night, so they may stop after a certain time — it didn’t affect our sleep at all. We’d definitely recommend staying here and would happily visit again.

Love so many things about this place - the location in natural surrounding not too far from the city, the friendly team of staff, breakfast is satisfying and good value for money. The chalet itself (The Barn) is quite spacious with a living room with fireplace downstair and the veranda where we can sit outside to enjoy the cool air. The 2 bedrooms can accommodate 4 people alright - with the main bedroom being adequate size but the second bedroom is just too tight.

The second bedroom being somewhat too tight and lack proper window (only one on the roof for air circulation). The bathroom is quite small and the stairway is steep and one has to be very careful when ascending or descending it - especially so when we have my elderly mother who have just recovered from toe surgery.

The place was perfect as it was in nature. The pod we stayed was warm and comfortable done out to a good standard with nearly everything you could want although a couple of blankets to sit outside would be a great idea but probably they would have provided us with them if we'd asked also a tea towel. They did keep sending messages saying just ask for help with anything if you needed it. I had to get to grips with the hot tap to make tea but they did say they could provide a kettle. Also I wanted to buy eggs for breakfast but couldn't boil them , they said to use the quooker ( boiling tap) to do it buy I was abit unsure however, again I think you can ask them to bring you some kind of cooking facilities but not sure if you have to pay extra for it but the joy is you just got to ask them and they are willing to help.
