We chose this hotel for location and price for a one night stay between train and ferry and were not disappointed. I was a bit worried as I read en route that there was no lift in the property but the reception kindly carried our cases up to our room. No breakfast but a coffee machine in reception and luggage storage.

Great location, clean, friendly staff

Such comfy thick mattresses (like in a hotel) and clean white linen. For a 1 Star hotel we didnt expect much and were positively surprised. Has the room on the last floor and lots of stairs but for that it was worth it sleeping in a clean comfy room. Around 8:15 we got woken up by the chimes of the nearby church. Lovely song. Not just bell noise. The windows are not that thick so you can hear the outside a bit. Clean toilet and shower with soap for both. One towel per person. That was just fine. Downstairs you were near shops restaurants etc. perfect for us. Wow crab was amazing, Amsterdam Dungeon and Madame Toussaudes. (Total for all three was about 130€ for 2 people)

the staff there were very kind to us. we stayed here for 2 days and wanted to stay here more. on the first day when we check in, the staff kindly told us about the hotel and at the end asked me what 'thank you' is in my language, and he said it with a big smile. for the hotel, the stairs are not very high, and if you really care about it, you can just ask them to get a room in a lower floor. the smell of drugs was coming in through the window and there was noise outside, but considering it was located in the city it was okay. the location was great, above all. I will come here again next time I come to Amsterdam.

This room is what it is marketed for. Being a budget room in a centric place in the city. It made our lives really easy when we had to move to the station at dawn. The neighborhood is lively so this is not a place that you choose for a quiet stay. Also, the church's bells sound pretty often. But if you want to stay in the center of Amsterdam and hang around till late this is the place for you. PS: They don't lie about the steep steps

The staff was friendly, location is perfect in terms of everything, there is trains station near, cafes, shopping streets and main squares! Housekeeping- towel change and garbage change everyday. There is no elevator, as in most of the hotels in amsterdam centre, so, if you stay here, consider to get lower floors, if possible.

There is 20 € deposit for each key and they return it on check out day. Its not disadvantage, its ok, but for someone it might matter.

Fantastic central location, less than 10 mins to Central Station, and quite literally under a minute to things such as bars, coffee shops etc. The room was spotlessly clean and on our first morning housekeeping knocked to see if we needed anything. Beds were ridiculously comfortable along with the pillows. There are many reviews stating the noise as an issue, but our room was just above reception overlooking the front and we slept with our window wide open with no trouble with noise. Amazing value for money!

As with everyone else, the stairs are a bit of a nightmare - BUT what do you expect in an older building in central Amsterdam. Rooms are very dated and could use a revamp, however, that is in no way a downside - merely an observation. Shower was also a little on the poor side but it did it’s job.

It’s a great location right in the heart of Central. Beds were comfortable and long enough for tall people to not hang off. Shorter friends were unable to see in the bathroom mirror though. Beware - there is no elevator and the stairs to the rooms are very steep and narrow. The reception area has a lovely orange cat named Tomas. He is super friendly and a wonderful greeter. 10/10 would recommend petting.

Brilliant location, basic but comfortable rooms. Bed was comfy and the shower was hot. The stairs are very steep and no lift so only stay here if you are reasonably fit. Overall good stay for a 1 star hotel would stay again.

I didn't like the stairs would be difficult even dangerous with lots of luggage, but lots of buildings are like this in Amsterdam. A TV would have been good. And it was very noisy take ear plugs

A characteristic building Quirky and quaint. The location. You step out of the building, turn right or left. 30 seconds you are in the Hub. We took the train from the Airport. When you exit the Station look straight and slightly to your left. There is a church steeple. Hotel Ben is up that street We stayed 12-15/09/23. Check in was quick Room was very clean with towels and a lovely comfy bed. Wi fi is excellent Previous reviews complaining about the stairs, noise etc are unfounded. They know about the stairs before booking Take a light backpack that goes on your back. There are handrails on either side. If you get noise Put a couple of ear plugs in The trouble is. Everyone expects everything to have mod cons these days. This is Amsterdam. An old city built over Canals If you want luxury There are hotels you can book everywhere. It’s not for me. I like these historic buildings and am grateful they haven’t been knocked down for the luxurious ones
