Clean, convenient hostel. It's overpriced through.

It's a combined bar / hotel. The bouncer at the door with a shaved head is a sociopath. Tried to start a fight with me as I politely walked past him to enter the hostel. Telling me he would kill me...all I said was "I am staying here tonight" A real piece of s***

The location is absolutely perfect, I couldn't have picked a better spot for my conference. The facilities were fantastic, clean, newly renovated, funky, fun and I couldn't believe how well I rested and how quiet it was.

I had to go up 2 flights of stairs with a heavy suitcase, and the key for the key fob lock was a bit small and I lost it on the last day. But otherwise, really exceeded my expectations. I had other friends who left another hostel nearby because the facilities were horrible. Nelly's was fab, they were really surprised when they popped by to see it. So convenient, I'll be back for a cheeky solo visit at some point again soon!

Room was very warm (I was worried I might be cold), the staff was super nice and you get discount at the bar next door and in one of the supermarkets. In general is a very nice hostel (even if it's right next to a strip club and mere feet away from the Red Light District).

The female-only dormitory is on the 3rd floor (total of 12 beds - bunk-bed style, so 6 of these) and the stairs are very steep, so be careful!! The showers aren't great and the shower head appears old and kind goes everywhere. Also, the lockers are crates, so your things aren't exactly hidden away. You can rent a lock&keey from reception (5€ that they'll return when you return the lock&key)

Very good price for the location. Good staff, large locker rooms, and beds with lights, plugs and curtains. You can rent locks and towels for 5€ which gets returned. The bathrooms are clean and equipped with soap. Bed is quite comfortable too. No breakfast, but they have a coupon for a 6€ deal on Spar

The air ventilation is quite noisy, so earplugs are recommended. Water pressure could be better. One bathroom did not have hot water, but when I went to a different one, that one had. The wide, thin pillows are not great for my liking

Very welcoming and helpful staff (evening of 19.2.2025). The place is clean and feel very safe (all women dorm). Even if it is in one of the busy touristic street, it is still silent enough in the dorm. The bathroom/shower on the top floor are inside the dorm, so very convenient for privacy and comfort.

Shower head projects the water on the door where you hang your clothes, so, no ideal as it wet your clothes/towel. But quite a minor inconvenience only. Very steep stairs to the dorm floors and very top floor. (Might be tricky to reach with a large suitcase). Very hot at the 4th floor (heating?) But normal temperature once inside the dorm itself (dorm G).

Nelly’s was just perfect for me, the independent female solo tripper - very well located in the centre of Amsterdam I was fortunate to stumble upon the most delightful staff(Notable mentions to all female staff especially upon entering in on Wednesday, sorry I forgot your name:( & the loveliest, sweetest Aoife whom really is a reflection not to mention suits her gorgeous name, perfectly and of course to Orlando and Davide too! Nelly Pros : Genuinely really lovely staff and team dynamic at Nelly’s Amsterdam are sincerely a credit to Amsterdam and the hospitality industry(refreshing to witness). Really comfortable beds with fresh clean linen(white cotton). Hygienically spotlessly clean as can be thanks to the hardworking housekeeping staff. Capsule beds are designed in such an awesome comfortable way that can only enhance sleep & afforded a private enclosed space with the cosy but surprisingly spacious coffin design. Locked metal large capacity basket for bottom bulk beds and lockers in dorm for top bunk beds. Conveniently designed and located night light & adaptor socket in every capsule space. Bathroom facilities were awesomely good and never foul & stinky concentrated urine stench unlike the one experienced in the bar on Wednesday. Staff were extremely accommodating enough to kindly fill my duo hot flask / water bottle up with herbal brew tea bags. Can’t fault anything at all thus you can’t go wrong staying here whilst in Amsterdam 💯✅🇳🇱

As good as the hostel was, you can’t choose your fellow room sharers. On arrival a drunk Irish boy decided his bunk bed was too high to climb so he confiscated my bed below. On my arrival I kicked him out of course. He was sweating profusely and smelling horrible. Had to strip down the whole bed of soiled linen, and endure the remnant of his odour. 😡 Just to be clear - not at all the fault of the hostel. Just bad luck for me , and bad manners from the drunken boy. Will be back on my next business trip

The location of the hostel was very nice, near the central station and I can pretty much walk everywhere from the hostel. The only-women room is nice, with separated bathrooms and a WC. Each bed has its own place to put your stuffs in with a locker (can be provided by the reception). Everyone was very kind. And surprisingly, even though the street can be quite busy during the night, in the room you wouldn't hear much noise.

The staircase was a bit too narrow. Since I stayed in the only-women room and it was on the top floor, I did struggle a bit with my suitcase while walking up and downstairs.

Staying at this hostel was a great experience! You get 20% off at the bar downstairs, which is a nice bonus. The staff are friendly overall, and I especially liked that the receptionist was Italian, so I didn’t even have to switch to English haha. They also have a fridge where I stashed the Big Mac I couldn’t finish the night before, which turned into the perfect breakfast the next day. The location is hard to beat: just a short walk from plenty of coffee shops, Central Station, Dam Square, great restaurants, and the heart of Amsterdam’s nightlife. If you’re looking for a cool, convenient place to crash for a night while in Amsterdam, this is definitely the spot. (PS: I woke up super close to check-out and they were nice enough to let me take a super quick shower even after I checked out, and they actually have shower gel in the shower cabin).

The one free shot and discounted drinks throughout the stay was appreciated. Location is good for getting about, it is in the red light district, near the condomerie and next door to a lap dancing bar. The capsules themselves were nice, a few of us in the room figured out the lighting together (it comes on faintly but you have to press and hold for the brightness to increase). Shower rooms were kept clean. We had a decent stay!

Lockers outside the bedroom were a bit inconvenient, just for example if you need something in the night. The heat/fan system wouldn't work for the last day and night, asked the housekeepers to check but they couldn't figure it out either. The lockers for leaving your luggage after checkout are paid for by coins and give no change but also cannot be opened before the time you set, otherwise you must pay again. Space in the room can be very tight, if you and the person opposite are both sat out the end of the bed you're practically touching. Storage for bottom bunks is restricted. The ladders to get in/out of the top bunks are quite difficult. Showers can take a few minutes to heat up. Would be good if they had some food/snacks.
