Room and facilities were very clean. Liked the very helpful 24-hour front desk staff and ability to store luggage by the front desk after arriving early. This place is ideally located for easy and quick access to public transportation; i.e. both a central train station for travel to the airport and surrounding region in addition to trams and metro to give easy access to the entirety of the city if unable to walk very far.

We didn't mind the very steep stair climbs to the fourth floor with our carry-on-sized luggage. However, it is easy understand that people with larger luggage or physical challenges might find the climb to be very difficult.

The hotel front desk people were very friendly and helpful. I loved the location - just in front of the Amsterdam Central train station.

The stairs were very narrow and it was quite difficult getting a 45-lb suitcase up to my 3rd floor room. There are no elevators and you have to negotiate a steep set of stairs just to get to reception. Then you have to navigate narrow corridors and multiple doors before using a very narrow and tight spiral staircase to get to your room. It was supposed to be a nonsmoking hotel but the whole place smelled strongly of smoke (I don't think other guests much cared about the smoking rules). For me, friendliness of staff and location were the main selling points for this place.

The hotel was 5 mins walk from centraal station.Rooms were big enough and the bathrooms were also big.The hotel even let us store luggage before and after checkout, and some staffs were 10/10 friendly while other staffs are maybe 5/10.Overall a great stay.The hotel has been running for 3 family generations, and overall its a very good hotel to stay.

The stairs, but its not the hotels fault as it was stated in the booking.The hotel maybe could start asking for age at least, so that they can provide downstairs room for the elderly, as i was travelling with 4 family members over the age of 60.

Excellent location ,near everything. Staff very friendly , room cleaned every day. Great view onto Main Street. I was able to move rooms.

A kettle in room would off been helpful. I was given a room at the back of hotel with a view of a wall. If I was only staying 1 maybe 2 nights I could of put up with this. But there's no way I could off done 5 nights. As it was I changed room with no problem to the front on arrival.

The location of this hotel is amazing, you can reach the main places of the city by walking. Room was big enough for the group of 4 people we went there and they offered to clean our room every day. Special mention to the staff of the hotel, specially the receptionist. There was one receptionist every night during our stay who was fantastic with our whole group (he even made us loats of hot dogs at 7am when my group and me came from a party in Amsterdam and were a bit annoying, but he still behave and made us feel appreciate and good take care) - I am not confident but his name but it might be something like Reres or Renes. If you read this we want to say thank you for your job.

If you come with heavy luggage there is steep and narrow stairs that let you struggle a bit while carrying it. Also, room looks a bit old but still ok.

The staff were so nice and helpful, if you need anything just ask and they will do their best. The position is great - right in front of the station and near the main attractions. Even if it’s a 2-star hotel there are all the essentials you need. I would definitely recommend it for a short stay, especially if you’re planning on spending most of your day outside.

It is a bit noisy - you will definitely hear the people on your floor walking around at night, bring earplugs if you have them. Maybe the fee per night is a bit high but I guess Amsterdam is just more expensive in general.

Fantastic location. 5 minutes walk from the train station, 5 minutes from Dam Square, very central. Very friendly and helpful staff. They are there 24/7 The room was perfect. Comfortable bed, clean room, hot shower, view of the canal. Air con - although I didn’t use it as I prefer to open the window. I really appreciated the safe in the room for my valuables. Lots of power points - ideal for charging up my phone etc. All perfect for what I needed.

There’s really nothing bad about this place. If I had to say something then I suppose a mini fridge in the room might have been nice to keep my water cold, but honestly, I was fine without it and I’m sure that had I asked, they would have let me put water in their kitchen. I was able to fill my bottle easily and they were happy for me to eat my own food there. Honestly, this place is great.

Due to many unpleasant comments regarding the stairs and hygiene, I contacted the hotel personally with a request to accommodate us in a unit on the lower floor, because I personally suffer from a fear of heights and narrow spaces, I am also a smoker, so I would not like to put myself in a situation to smoke in the room. I was promised a lower floor unit with a nice window. This hotel deserves a 10/10 rating for several reasons: Surprise effect: In line with lower expectations, I was greeted by an expectedly clean, minimalist unit (expected for a 2 star category) but also a (real photos) beautiful high windows with a beautiful view of a city center itself seems almoust unreal ! Pure 10! Comfort: The unit is super clean without unnecessary artifacts, stunning space for a wardrobe with hangers, a desk, a TV, two comfortable clean adoult beds and lots of natural light coming in through the large windows! Stuff: Really exciting in this rating is TRUST. I got more than I was promised. The fact, it will never be possible to please everyone. High and low category hotels get both low and high reviews including some "souls" whose needs/wishes are simply impossible to fulfill. Content: I have to admit that the kettle should become mandatory equipmnent in general; as for the lacking hair dryer, I prepared myself ... but like most woman, I usually carry my own. 10 because it is not really important ! P.S. I didn't have time to personally apologize that my companion spilled juice on the sheets! I hope you didn't mind, in case of meeting Amsterdam again, you would definitely be my first choice, despite the higher price because it was the New Year period, it was worth every penny and thank you !

Nothing that I would single out as extremely important

All of the staff were friendly, efficient and professional. The maid even placed our bear on the bed once made-so cute. Beds were comfortable and bathroom clean. Stayed in a room off the side lane (side of hotel) and noise was ok. All in a good size room. While there was no tea and coffee in our rooms, we were given a kettle upon request.

Stairs are steep! It’s fitting for a hotel built in its era, so be prepared. We were initially directed to the wrong room 3 flights up, however staff helped us with bags to the correct room, one fight up at the other side of hotel.

Location; in the heart of the city, right on Damrak, very close to central train station. Room; fully renovated. Staff; happy to help any time we asked for something, room cleaned and towels changed daily.

Historic old buildings/hotels in the heart of Amsterdam are narrow with no lift, steep chairs and poor soundproof. Our floor was top floor, didn't bother us just mentinoing for future visitors. And as buildngs are narrow the reception and communal areas are of limited capacity.
