Central location, beautiful building, great vibe, very comfortable beds and the pods were quite spacious. Staff were incredibly helpful and check in etc is very easy. Great service in the restaurant and nice food too.

It’s built on the Japanese pod model, which is a great concept but Dutch people are, unfortunately, quite a bit louder than Japanese people so there were noises in the night (phones going off, people coming back late and using the bathroom quite loudly and even someone making a phone call in the middle of the night) but maybe I was just unlucky.

The location!

The presence of the cat was not mentioned anywhere! So my cat allergy was triggered. The room we were initially given was slightly bigger than a coffin and was overlooking an extremely noisy and busy restaurant/bar. It wasn't clear from the booking that this was the case.m

It was clean, looked very nice and stylish, and the staff was helpful. There was soap and towels for which I did not have to pay any extra!

It was not so easy to meet other travellers because of the ambience. There was just a hugh restaurant where also people from outside came to dine. No space for travelers alone to meet and hang out. There was also no kitchen. Also getting in my bed turned out to be little difficul. Because it was in the corner, it was difficult to get a good hold of the handle bar at the side. But these are all just small things. Overall read the positive comment.

The venue and location were amazing! We stayed in the double bunk (pod) which was an extremely comfortable bed and would have been extremely private, had we been able to close the curtains. Unfortunately the bunk we were given had no ventilation and the air was stagnant and hot. The staff worked quickly to remedy the issue though and immediately got us a fan to move the air conditioning to our section. We really appreciated their help and we hope the management fixes the ventilation issue within the bunk itself so the next patrons can close the curtains and still receive fresh air. 10/10 for effort and response time to fix the issue though! 👍 Bathrooms were clean and maintained well, with good showers. Amazing location- close to old town and train station.

The male host who was there in the afternoons/evenings was the opposite of the helpful/friendly morning female hosts. He seemed annoyed by the guests asking for help and was impatient and condescending. Perhaps he should not be in the hospitality business?? Also, even though this is not a “traditional hostel”, it would be so wonderful to just set up a tea kettle and some cups some where… maybe the 3rd floor common area? Just a suggestion for something simple and pleasant you could do for your guests. ;)

I really enjoy staying at Bunk Hotel. It's the 2nd time I've stayed here. The location is fabulous. Easy walking distance from train station and the main shopping canal. The bed is comfy, pillows are super soft and it's very clean. The staff are wonderful- very welcoming and helpful. The food is also amazing.

There is very limited space to pack/unpack your things. There isn't a table or counter to do so, and no separate area so if people arrive late and start going through bags/cupboards it can get noisy. The facility is co-ed and due to this is found the most noise and smells came from men staying there. On my most recent visit a group of very drunk men came in at around 4am and were very loud. (Absolutely no fault of the hotel of course. But I've stayed at quite a few capsule hotels and they have all been gendered and I've never had a noise/smell issue) The bathroom (also co-ed) is clean but I found there wasn't enough shelf or counter space for my cosmetic bag.

This is a hostel but like a fancy one. The pods are bigger than one might expect and everything is spotless clean. The bathrooms are well thought so even though they are shared, you are unlikely to deal with anyone else's smells or sounds (I mean by this that divisions in the bathrooms are full hight so no under the door or between the separations space). The retaurant is great, the "chill" lounge is perfect and you can use their co-working space if you need to. Wifi is stable and fast and staff are helpful, respectful and efficient. The place is an old church so event the ambiance is something else.

It is not that I didn't like it but the restaurant kinds of plays agains the "hostel" part. It is excellent but quite expensive if you are touring the region on a low budget. You will have to go out to find other type of food and to eat it, you will need to go to the lounge which is not really adequate to eat. But on the other hand, if you have the budget, you will eat really well.

This is by far the best, the very best hostel it has ever been my pleasure to stay in. Everything is simply next level. The building is a beautifully converted church and it has been done with a style that would not look out of place in a 5 star hotel. I stayed in a pod and these are fantastic offering privacy and security. There is a room card operated locker under your pod and also a large padlockable close by (Bring a padlock) The showers and bathrooms are again more akin to a 5 star hotel. And finally the staff. They are so friendly and helpful and you can tell they love both working there and the place itself. Finally and this always means a lot, all of the locals I spoke to about the place all gave glowing reports

It lacks on possibilities for socialization with the other guests. I believe the reason is the following: the ground floor of the structure is a bar/restaurant, therefore you can't really hang out there if you don't buy anything and can't eat there food from outside. There is a common room (lounge area) but it's kinda hidden on the 3rd floor, only reachable by elevator and not well signalled. What end up happening is that no one goes there and people go directly to their pods. Personal suggestion : signal the lounge area better, adding some signs in the ground floor and add a couple of table with chairs, an hostel needs to provide a place where the guests can eat their own food. Extra: there should be a basic kitchen in the common area.

I have stayed in many hostels but if you choose to stay in a dorm it's hard to imagine a better designed or (relatively) luxurious set up than this. The setting in an old church is great, the bar has good beers, there was even a concert the night I was there. But the key thing is that they've really thought through so many of the little details that can frustrate a backpacker - eg the towels and lockers are provided as standard, the soap actually smells good, there's shampoo (and conditioner) in the showers which run good and hot. The place you hang clothes while showering has a dividing panel to stop splashes, there's a shoe rack away from the beds to get over that stink of feet that pervades most dorms, the toilets are within the card-access area that is accessed for a dorm, but set well enough away that you don't disturb fellow roommates with your bathroom movements. The bunks are called pods as they are curtained for privacy - inside each there's a plug plus two USB charge points (old USB style) and a fun lamp whose colour you can change. Instead of having the upper bunk up a wobbly ladder, the beds are on very solid shelf-frames and they cleverly make a step down to lower bunks. Location is a 7 minute walk from the Utrecht Centraal train station and you can walk in about the same time to Albert Heijn supermarket which has flat whites/espressos for 1.75/1.5 euros and lots of other inexpensive goodies for picnics. There's a 3rd floor chill area too.

The Location ist very good, in terms of next to the train station. Self check in Service ist very easy, Loved that There is a huge space to work on the 2nd Floor with your Laptop, with charging Stations, Loved that.

wasn’t a fan of the food there. I ordered a Nordic Bowl, but it was just a bunch of ingredients thrown into a bowl—very pricey for what it was. If you’re looking for good food, I’d recommend going somewhere else. That said, I did try the bitterballen, and they were quite tasty—I have to admit! As for the sleeping arrangements, there were far too many sleeping capsules in one room. I barely managed to get any sleep. There was a small window from 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM when I could finally rest a bit, but it’s way too crowded. Naturally, there’s always someone coming or going, making noise and disturbing the peace.
