Stay: Van der Valk Hotel Vianen – Utrecht Rating: ★★★★★ Arriving at the Van der Valk Hotel Vianen – Utrecht felt like entering a peaceful retreat nestled in the Dutch countryside. The hotel blends timeless elegance with local charm—it clearly plays an active role in the community, and there was a quiet, welcoming energy from the moment we stepped into the beautiful lobby. While I didn’t get a chance to enjoy the sauna or pool (both of which looked lovely), I absolutely loved the breakfast each morning. The gentleman preparing eggs brought such warmth and care to his role—honestly, some of the best eggs I’ve ever had. The hostesses were attentive and kind, and the entire dining experience set a positive tone for the day. The front desk team was incredibly helpful. I explained that my son was undergoing surgery and requested a larger room to give us more space. They went out of their way to accommodate us, and the upgraded room was airy, clean, and full of natural light. The May weather was gorgeous—sunny and vibrant—making the entire setting feel even more peaceful. The location is perfect: only about 30–45 minutes to Amsterdam and 20–30 minutes to Utrecht. Parking was included in our rate, which made everything more convenient. One of my favorite moments was watching locals ride their bikes along the roadside paths lined with wildflowers. There was something deeply healing about the environment—calm, scenic, and full of life. This was more than a hotel stay—it was a space for reflection, healing, and reconnecting with my son after his operation. I’m so thankful to the Van der Valk team for creating a place that felt both elegant and deeply human. Thank you for everything. I hope to return again soon.

Location is really nice, you can take a walk around the hotel and find a good spot for a sightseeing. Bus station is just next to the hotel, quick 15min to Utrecht city. Breakfast has a lot of choices.

Lovely modern hotel. Huge room with lovely facilities - spa bath, sitting area, balcony, satellite TV, aircon. Very nice wellness centre, with pool, sauna, Stan room. All clean and well maintained. Surprisingly good restaurant and excellent and varied breakfast. Locked garage for the bikes. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The room was very clean and bathroom was amazing. Didn't expect to have a balcony, which is good. There is a nice coffee machine, fridge and ironing board in the quite spacious room. Small shop in reception area which was convenient.

Even though there is a lot to do in the hotel, there was not really much to do outside of that. I think the hotel could use some more entrances to the property, so that you can access from different sides.

It was good but the utensils to grab the food/ fruit must be put on the side of the bowls because when a guest graps the food and put the utensils back in the bowls it touches the fruit or the bread and that is not hygienic because if the guest coughs in her/his hands and graps the utensils with that hands and puts the utensils back in the bowl and where he/she graps the utensils goes/touchs the fruit or bread.

The pool is not nice , to much chlorine in the air. That is suffocating.

Big rooms, clean, comfortable. The SPA is a plus. Very tasty breakfast, lots of choices.

Ordered my dinner through their room service. It was a bad experience. For €15 euros the service alone, the food was cold and the burger was mediocre at best. I recommend NOT to use this service. Just book a table and go to the restaurant, maybe the food will be, at least, hot.

The location was nice and close to Vianen's Voorstraat. The view was nice. The coffee machine in the room was very much appreciated.

There were no shelves in the fridge. There was no rack for a towel in the shower area, or a shelf on which to place on. It would've been nice to have more space to place soap and shampoo too. It would also have been nice to have a curtain at the entrance to the shower to stop water from running onto the floor of the rest of the bathroom.

The hotel was beautifully styled, staff were very helpful, the room was clean, and we enjoyed the meals in the restaurant. We liked the pool and enjoyed our swim.

The mattresses are too soft and not supportive.

Large comfortable room, great bathroom, clean, nice bed. Superb breakfast. This is a hotel that really pays attention to detail; the quality shone through in everything from fixtures and fittings to the perfect pineapple at breakfast.

Fantastic Hotel. The staff were super friendly, the room was large and clean. The sauna and swimming pool was great and the restaurant was super accommodating and offered to amend anything on the menu to gluten free. A truly fantastic experience
