The rooms were clean, the location was great - close enough to the town centre but not too close so we didn't get the noise from the pubs, etc. The staff were accommodating and friendly.

The pool was dirty. There was 1 power socket in the kitchen that we had to share the fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle with - which made breakfast prep much longer than it had to be. Other guests were being extremely noisy late at night, not sure if anything was done about it after we complained.

A couple of maintenance things in apartment but they didn't bother us (one spa jet didn't work, one venetian didn't open). I think the pool gate didn't lock fully? Please check.. The pool area is absolutely beautiful!

The room was very spacious, clean and well laid out. Although we didn't need the kitchen facilities, it had a nice area to prepare, store and refridgerate food along with a sizable sink to wash dishes. Highly recommend going to the Kauri Museum just south about 45 minutes.

The half glass shower door is useless. Water still got outside of the shower/tub and made the floor area very wet and a nuisance to deal with. The room could use some wall decor to warm it up a bit.

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional experience I had during my recent stay at Hobsons Choice Motel in Dargaville. From the moment we checked into their establishment, we were greeted with warmth from the lovely lady at the front desk. The room provided was well presented, comfortable and impeccably clean. The bed was very comfortable and so lovely to sleep on. What truly made our stay memorable was the peaceful environment the motel offered. It provided the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation that allowed us to unwind after a long day of travel. Thank you once again for providing such a wonderful accommodation option. We should have stayed longer, had to rush back to Auckland early. So sad...

A fairly typical NZ motel room, similar to others as experienced by us on our (so far) near six week grand tour. Well equipped, but becoming slightly worn and dated. Not be best, but by no means the worst, and we would happily stay here again. A nice welcome upon check in - we were shown to the room (only a few places go to the trouble).

Very little, and certainly nothing to complain about. A bit out of town, but still walkable. Some road noise, but not unexpected given that the motel is by a main road (shutting the windows and using the aircon resolved that issue!)

Easy to find, close to town, swimming pools, park Clean rooms, with good amount of towels Lovely clean bathrooms with working spa baths Nice size fridge and kitchen Tidy complex, love all the plant life around Friendly service. Very accommodating.

The bugs at night, bt I expect that by a large body of water. Otherwise nothing really. Bit tight for our mini bus to maneuver around complex bt that's about it

Nice Motel. Being an older design it meant our room (with spa bath) had more space than most modern motel rooms. Staff were friendly and when we checked out asked if everything had been to our satisfaction. It was also surprisingly quiet (although it was mid week). Also good price.

There was nothing we didn't like. Everything was clean, quiet and spacious. The only maintenance item was the main bathroom light bulb had blown but there was another light over the mirror so it was not a big deal.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. He let us know how to get on sky, when he noticed through the window that we had the screen on the wrong page for a long time. The spa was a bonus! We enjoyed it. Thank you.

They had everything we needed. A pair of scissors would have been more helpful in the kitchen. I had nothing else to add, apart from thank you for the lovely stay.

Booked a Double unit or studio. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment. Very clean and fresh smelling. 👌 Bed is comfortable, and the sheets felt crispy and clean.😉

Although the apartment was clean but one of the couches looked tired or a bit grubby. 9 and 1/2 out of 10.🙂 The pool could have been a bit cleaner. Was going to have a 🏊‍♀️ 👙

I liked how it was a close commute to the local shops and grocery store. I enjoyed how much space we had.

I didn’t like how the front door couldn’t properly lock. If we didn’t have the safety latch on the door we wouldn’t have been able to lock up. Bed was a bit hard a cushion mattress topper would work great.
