I loved the "laid back" informal atmosphere where the admin folk were there when you wanted or needed them, but otherwise were essentially invisible. Consequently all the information or utilities one required were either obvious in themselves or there was printed information or instructions on hand nearby. So self-serve was easy and your stay is virtually completely autonamous as if in your own home...except help is always at hand, if you need it. It was hard to not stay an extra night or three. However retirement is not far off, so for me, It can't happen too soon.

There was nothing I didnt like really. Everything I needed was on hand and the facilities were better than expected... especially for the price I paid... which I definitely liked.

We had a wonderful stay at the villa! The location was perfect, making it easy to walk to our SDA church around the corner. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with anything we needed. The villa itself was spotless, and there was plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Whangarei!

There was absolutely nothing we didn't like about the accommodation. Everything was just perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!

I made a last-minute booking as my daughter was in hospital, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower was even better than the one I have at home! The heater kept the room warm and cozy, which made a big difference during a stressful time. As a solo traveller, I also really appreciated how safe and secure I felt. Outstanding value for money – I’m so grateful I found this place.

Very homely and spacious

The property was awesome..There was a young couple staying there that decided they could just use my butter that I had just purchased and hadn't even opened. And to walk out of my room and seeing it sitting on the bench when I had put it in the fridge with the rest of my food, was rude. I ended up taking all my food into my room, until I was ready to cook my dinner. If they asked to use it, I wouldn't have a problem, but if you know that you didn't buy it, then don't touch it. The Asian couple were very nice and very friendly..

Lots of rooms and beds great for a group, had multiple bathrooms was clean and had what we needed for a one night stay. Great location across road from super market. Had heating which was fab for winter.

It was a bit tired but guess that’s what you get from an old villa, rooms were great though and same with bedding. Think it’s mainly used for a hostel back packer type accommodation as separate rooms can be rented out.

Very comfortable room and a good size too. We had room A. Our group consisted of myself at 65 yrs, my daughter of 42 years and my grandson of 4 years old. The furnishings in the house are beautiful, especially in the sitting room. I want a big kitchen like yours in my own home. The whole system of the house really works. I love the location, with 2 major supermarkets within walking distance of the house. The coin save shop is also a bonus for items forgotten. I wondered if there couldve been some written literature around for visitors new to N.Z. but i guess that is covered by the contact phone numbers supplied upon online application and the notice for contacting the manager placed as a notice in the house. The whole booking system is amazing and it really works. We had no contact with any management while there and contact by email really does work. I did have my doubts at first, but by following your excellent directions, THIS SYSTEM REALLY WORKS.!!!! Please note, I have never booked a room or motel in my life, best first time experience ever. So thank you.

The pillows were a bit hard, but this isnt a complaint.7

Big place - i didnt read to know it was shared facilities which was my error but it didnt matter. Showers were hot - place was great value. I was there alone. The owner is super nice. Big kitchen. I worked at same time and he gave me a foldable desk. It was always full but you didnt feel crowded. Very warm in the winter. Electric blankets. The furniture little old fashioned but didnt want for anything. Nice and quiet. New World on your doorstep.

Could be some milk for all for cups of tea or coffee as as everyone just kept taking what was in the fridge - maybe a shared bottle or jug would be handy.

Very handy location. Easy to check in, even though no staff on site at the time I checked in. The motel is half the price of others in the area. So while it's cheaper accommodation it has shared kitchen, bathroom and living areas. I don't mind this at all. I wasn't expecting the Hilton! The house is old but has been renovated to be more modern inside. Showers are good! There was a heater and a fan in the room. The heater I definitely appreciated! Warm blankets and clean bedding. No bed bugs in my room. If you're social there is opportunity to meet and socialize with other guests. The rooms are lockable and my stuff was secure while I was away from the room.
