This is the ideal place to stay if you are in the area. Jackie and Daniel are outstanding hosts! Our room was clean and spacious. Our bathroom was large, clean, with a great shower and the best shampoo/conditioner I have ever used. Their B&B is like a hotel. It has at least four rooms with a wide hallway between. Each room has French doors that open up onto a wrap around porch. The breeze that came into our Room was delightful! They have a hot tea and coffee bar available to all 24/7 AND a lounge, just for the guests. It was very private and comfortable. If you get a chance to have dinner and breakfast, don’t pass it up…it’s delicious! Plus, be sure to check out The Kauri Museum, which is just next door…it’s an impressive facility! I’m still dreaming of Jackie’s homemade cheesecake with mixed berry compote!

Absolutely nothing!

Upon arrival Jackie met us at the door and showed us around the property. The accomodation was nicely appointed, with a lounge with refrigerator a few feet away from the room. We'd brought our dinner along, and Jackie graciously later heated it up for us and served it on the table in the lounge, very nice. In the morning Daniel prepared a delicious breakfast. Jackie and Danier were a very pleasant couple and made my son and I feel right at home. It was a very relaxing stay with great hosts.

The couple who own the place are very nice. I highly recommend this b&b if you are in neighborhood. The room was big and comfortable. We had dinner on site and the steak was amazing, be prepared to pay an extra $15 for dessert. The breakfast was simple but delicious. The Kauri museum is conveniently located next door and definitely worth a visit. Also a drive to see the biggest fig tree is a must.

There isn’t much to do around but the place is very relaxing. A jacuzzi would be a nice addition for guests to enjoy.

-Location - we picked this as a mid point in a long drive. Well worth it. It’s next door to the local Kauri Museum - which I recommend going to. -Access and parking - host met us on site and there is plenty of parking -Restaurants - there is a cafe opposite that closes about 3pm, so we didn’t go there, but the host messaged a while before and offered to cook dinner for us. We took them up on the offer and were not disappointed. Good food at a good price. -WiFi speed - we were in the room furthest from the living area where the WiFi was patchy - 6mbps down and 0.2mbps up. However in the living area, which was available for guest use, it was 50mbps down and 6mbps up. -Breakfast - bacon, eggs and toast. Simple, but lovely. -Bed - firm, but comfortable. -Noise levels - super quiet -Temperature - the host put on the heaters before we arrived which was appreciated and ment it was very comfortable. -Shower - decent enough, but when we were chatting to the hosts they told us they are about to have all new bathrooms installed anyway. So I’m picturing good things! -Overall comments - Fantastic host, cracking food. Would stay again - highly recommended.

What a gem in the small village of Matakohe and right next to the very interesting Kauri museum. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and both the bedroom and bathroom were so spacious and comfortable. As we were the only visitors our host suggested we look at the other bedrooms as well. They were all beautiful and all had a door leading onto a farmhouse style wrap around verandah. We say on the verandah and enjoyed the sunset and views of the neighbouring farms. The hosts Jackie and her husband were very friendly and easy to talk to. What a really great evening we had .....we didn't want to leave.

The spacious rooms were nicely decorated and we had a large lounge with veranda as a shared space. Dinner was prepared by the house who had contacted us in advance as there is no restaurant in the area. We were given several menu options to choose from and it was all very nice. The whole house has been recently renovated by its new owners and it has a very nice feel. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, easy to have a conversation with.

What a great place to stay - easy to find, a beautiful property with their own chooks (hens) for eggs, vegies from the garden. Our room was very big and comfortable with our own bathroom. We had a verandah to sit out on overlooking the property - beautiful. And our hosts - Jackie & Daniel - couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly or helpful. A lovely couple doing a great job looking after their guests. Jackie even phoned the Kauri Museum (she knew we were going there after leaving Matakohe House) as she'd found my phone charger. Many thanks Jackie. :)

Nothing to say here. :)

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and we were fortunate to meet some lovely people from Denmark and had a fabulous evening, parting as friends. The location is convenient, close to the Kauri Museum which is a must to visit and learn for tourist and kiwi's alike.

There were no negatives at all, highly recommended.

So clean, freshly painted and well appointed! Close to the Kauri museum! Purpose of our visit! Hosts are friendly, helpful and made our stay enjoyable! Was great to meet Jackie and Daniel and spend time with them! Food- breakfast and dinner was excellent! Plunger coffee and help yourself to tea and coffee in the kitchenette! We stayed here 12 years ago and enjoyed our stay just as much! Thank you!

We were highly appreciative of Jackie and Daniel’s willingness to share local knowledge and allow an early checkin, after a midnight flight with no sleep! Loved our room looking over the garden and rural countryside.

The only small criticism would be the fact that we had no idea of meal prices until the bill arrived…we felt the meals were overpriced.
