My stay at Mount Cook View Motel in Fox Glacier was really enjoyable. Matthew and Hannah are very friendly and welcoming hosts, and make you feel at home right from the start. The accommodation is first class with all of the essential amenities provided within a very comfortable and modern motel room. The motel itself is within a short driving distance to the main attraction of the area including Lake Matheson, Lake Gault, Gillespies Beach and the Fox Glacier views. I would recommend Mount Cook View Motel to anyone who just wants a few nights at Fox Glacier, or like me would like to spend a week surrounded by the stunning mountain scenery of the West Coast.

Very roomy and comfortable unit. Very quiet location. We arrived after the office closed but there were clear instructions on the office door to guide us to our unit. The heaters had been turned on so the rooms were comfortably warm when we arrived. The wheelchair-friendly bathroom made for a luxurious sense of space.

The kitchen was a bit more sparsely equipped than other places we stayed at on our trip. Office opening hours were unusually restricted (closed at 6 p.m., had no-one on duty next morning.) We would have liked to thank the staff before our departure but there was no-one in the office - so we had zero contact with staff.

Beautiful motel, nicely located close to the town centre meant everything was just minutes away. The room itself was very spacious and the beds were more than comfy. The view of Mount Tasman and Mount Cook from the room was to die for. The covered car parking just next to the house was an added bonus. The laundry was just a unit away making it very accessible. The two friendly dogs - Tarn and Beamish - were the centre of attraction for our kids who loved playing with them all day long. We have some very fond memories of this place. The staff was very warm, helpful and proactive in restocking the items even before we asked them which was in complete contrast to our experience in so many other places in NZ. Overall, this might be the best motel in the Fox Glacier and we certainly are looking forward to staying here on our next trip.

Wifi is poor Place was very clean except for the oven Unsure if body wash and shampoo were meant to be provided in the labelled bottles in the bathroom but they were empty We were at the front of the property so did get some driveway/road noise as well as the property sign shining through the curtains into the second bedroom. Second bedroom also had a smoke alarm inside which flashes a light all night - fyi for light sleepers

We had a really warm welcome with all the information we required to make the most of the area. The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfy and the room serviced every day. The heaters soon warmed up the room when the evening got a bit chilly. The glow worm walk was enchanting. Best done at dusk while the path is still visible so the light from a torch doesn't mask them.

Nothing to do with the motel but Mount Cook was shrouded in cloud the whole time we were there so we didn't get a good view of it. Fox glacier has receded so far that after a good walk it was still not visible. As there was a breeze, ripples on Lake Matheson meant there was no reflection of the mountains. It is a good hike up to Lake Gault with a lot of up hill. The only negative of the accommodation was the settee was not very comfortable as it had lots of lumps and hollows.

We had a fantastic stay at Mt Cook View Motel! The location is ideal, with beautiful views of the snowy mountains and perfect weather to enjoy them. The owner was incredibly amiable, going above and beyond by preparing our room in advance—he even turned on the heater and lights to welcome us, making it feel cozy right from the start. We appreciated the flexibility with check-in and check-out times, which made our stay even more relaxing. The room was spacious and well-equipped with a heater and an electric blanket, perfect for the chilly evenings. Parking was a breeze, right in front of our room. The owner also suggested a great spot to visit nearby, which really made our trip memorable. We highly recommend Mt Cook View Motel for its warm hospitality, convenience, and incredible mountain views!

This. Otel exceeded our expectations. It was well placed just outside of town to be silent with little to no passing traffic at night. The staff were lovely, the room was spotless and the room size was … large! Comfy settee in the room topped off the comfort score. The motel is set an easy and flat footpath walk 25 minutes into town or a 2. Inure drive. The view from our window was gorgeous. We stayed two nights and could easily have stayed a week. Well done to the current managers of the property.

Located not far from Lake Matheson and Lake Gault. The Lake Matheson Cafe is a must visit. Views of snow capped Mount Cook from the motel and the walks around the lakes. A visit to Gillespies Beach (21km drive) is also worthwhile, a long beach with a history of gold mining of the 'sands'!

Hmm, a bedside cabinet/table on 'both' sides of the bed would have been appreciated. We improvised.

I'm very grateful and appreciative of the lovely reception lady, whose name is Renata. I left my headphones in the bed and realised it only the next day, when we were hundreds of miles away. I wrote to the motel and got a response immediately. The lady promised to send the headphones back to my UK address! I was very happy as the headphones were a gift from my brother. I offered to pay for the delivery, but when I got it, it turned out the postage had already been made. I was really amazed at the great service! We also loved the location of the motel, and the views were magnificent.

The room furnishings were quite basic, and the bathroom and kitchen were not as well equipped as in the other places we stayed in at the same or lower price.

Location is great! Staff are lovely. Was greeted by the sweetest most gentle dogs. ( adorable!!) plenty of parking space. Suite was large and spacious. Up to date kitchen and bathroom facilities! Great value for money. And great views as advertised, lake matheson and glacial view point 3 minutes up the road. Central to all cafes, bars, and adventure spots.
