The room was spotless. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed, Even an oven to warm pies and tea towels which are not usually supplied. The shower was great with lots of hot water. There is a comfortable sofa and the bed was so comfortable we had the best sleep. There is a washer and drying machine Free to use with wash powder which was a great bonus. The Owner is a Lovely lady who is very kind and helpful. I would recommend Maple Lodge Motel to everyone and all my friends and family. We stayed to visit The Hobbit film set which was remarkable. Matamata is a lovely place to stay for a few days.

Perfect location,just a 10 minute walk gets you to the centre of matamata,it's all flat so it's a easy walk.rooms are spacious with a full kitchen.our room had a double bed in a separate room plus a single bed in the living area,it was a little tired in so Ares but very comfortable.swimming pool was a bonus to cool off after the hobbiton experience. Maria was a total star very friendly and helpful, fresh milk was given too.

Only one thing and nothing to do with the motel . Taxi from matamata to the hobbiton experience was very expensive $160 return,it's literally 10mins each way.

Carpark right outside the unit, and plenty of room to unload luggage. I liked the retro-style of the motel room, it was a trip back in time. A good size unit, clean and tidy. Lots of equipment in the kitchen. A good size bottle of milk provided. Comfortable couch for TV watching. Air-conditioner worked well, extending the cold air to the bedroom as well. Good shower with liquid bodywash in a built-in container. Fluffy towels AND face cloth provided. Lots of storage space in the vanity cabinet, and room to put toiletries on the long window sill. I appreciated the mirror on the window to avoid the glare experienced in the vanity mirror.

The shower room door creaked. The kitchen floor was a little sticky.

Staying at Maple Lodge felt like we stumbled on a little hidden treasure. The vibes were great from the moment we entered the driveway, and being greeted by a very cute (and lazy) cat camped out at the office door was a delightful surprise. The staff were relaxed and friendly, and went those little extra steps to help make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible! The room was really comfortable (great bed with a nice level of firmness), and everything was clear and easy. Definitely staying here again next time I'm near Matamata!

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Maple Lodge- our room was actually a one bedroom fully functioning apartment. It was so spacious and comfortable! I wished we would have been able to stay longer. The property manager was so friendly and kind and even gave us a little jug of fresh milk for our tea and coffee. We stayed in Matamata to do as many others have and visit Hobbiton the next day. The town itself is a bit of a walk from the property but we were up for it and went in to explore a bit and have dinner. Parking was easy in a space right in from of our suite, and free. There were laundry facilities available for use, pay with coins. We fully enjoyed our stay at Maple Lodge and would absolutely recommend and book again.

When we came in, the office had already closed, however, they were very good about communicating with us how to access our room. The room was larger than I expected and the wifi had good connection! They left fresh milk in the fridge, which was a nice touch. The bed was large and comfortable and the room was well furnished. We will definitely be staying here again if we make it back to Matamata!

The unit was very clean and the beds were comfortable. They provided clean towels and a bottle of milk for us. Tea and coffee were provided in the unit as well. Loved that they had a microwave! The unit’s kitchen was stocked with utensils, plates, pots and pans etc. Great place!

The lock on the door seemed a little loose and wiggly, but maybe those locks are always like that.

Very comfortable stay with nice welcoming, easy check in even earlier, easy check out. Even if it could seem a bit old, the studio is actually very comfortable, clean, well furnished ; you will find everything you need. You can cook your meals as we did. Large and comfortable bed. A nice place outside with seats. To use a washing machine is possible. We didn't use it but there is a swimming pool at rear. Quiet. Good wifi. Room in front to park the car. We recommend it.

The room I was in was incredibly spacious with plenty of room to relax, cook, get washed etc and also contained a heater which the owner of the motel had already turned on so the room was warm for when I arrived. The staff were also really welcoming and I was offered fresh towels/cloths after my first night. I was also very pleased the the laundry room was accessible free of charge.

The shower water pressure was a little bit low.

Tidy room, comfortable linens. Staff is really nice. Checking in was a breeze. They allowed us to cancel extra night stay (foc) as we have decided to continue driving towards Rotorua the next day. The laundry facility is a big bonus. Location is close to town and we can park in front of the room.

I suggest to have blockout curtains and more towel racks in bathroom
