The room was spotless. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed, Even an oven to warm pies and tea towels which are not usually supplied. The shower was great with lots of hot water. There is a comfortable sofa and the bed was so comfortable we had the best sleep. There is a washer and drying machine Free to use with wash powder which was a great bonus. The Owner is a Lovely lady who is very kind and helpful. I would recommend Maple Lodge Motel to everyone and all my friends and family. We stayed to visit The Hobbit film set which was remarkable. Matamata is a lovely place to stay for a few days.

Perfect location,just a 10 minute walk gets you to the centre of matamata,it's all flat so it's a easy walk.rooms are spacious with a full kitchen.our room had a double bed in a separate room plus a single bed in the living area,it was a little tired in so Ares but very comfortable.swimming pool was a bonus to cool off after the hobbiton experience. Maria was a total star very friendly and helpful, fresh milk was given too.

Only one thing and nothing to do with the motel . Taxi from matamata to the hobbiton experience was very expensive $160 return,it's literally 10mins each way.

Carpark right outside the unit, and plenty of room to unload luggage. I liked the retro-style of the motel room, it was a trip back in time. A good size unit, clean and tidy. Lots of equipment in the kitchen. A good size bottle of milk provided. Comfortable couch for TV watching. Air-conditioner worked well, extending the cold air to the bedroom as well. Good shower with liquid bodywash in a built-in container. Fluffy towels AND face cloth provided. Lots of storage space in the vanity cabinet, and room to put toiletries on the long window sill. I appreciated the mirror on the window to avoid the glare experienced in the vanity mirror.

The shower room door creaked. The kitchen floor was a little sticky.

Large comfortable bed, good quality carpet, adequate lighting, good size fridge, good heat pump, plenty of hot water though pressure was very low, decor ok although drapes could be heavier and lined

Couldn't open closet door, only 1 knife and 1 teaspoon in kitchen, towels a bit flat and non absorbent, tv screen too small to view across room, only 1 bedside table, no shelf under mirror, nowhere to put luggage, bathroom mirror in wrong place, no extraction in bathroom (had to open window in cold weather, brrrrr)

The receptionist Maria is very communicative and hospitable! She was so nice and informative and made for a warm welcome! Clean rooms with great ammenities- awesome birds to wake up to- an idyllic stay! The landscaped entrance looks cool to- a great 1st impression!

That my stay wasn't for longer! If you prefer to cook your own meals this place will greatly accommodate based on the kitchenette! Awesome.

Staying at Maple Lodge felt like we stumbled on a little hidden treasure. The vibes were great from the moment we entered the driveway, and being greeted by a very cute (and lazy) cat camped out at the office door was a delightful surprise. The staff were relaxed and friendly, and went those little extra steps to help make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible! The room was really comfortable (great bed with a nice level of firmness), and everything was clear and easy. Definitely staying here again next time I'm near Matamata!

A lovely place to stay, units set back from main road so very quiet. Were given a upgrade to a 1 bedroom apartment which was great as it had a very comfy 3 seater settee which we really appreciated. The bed was very comfy, all very clean, could close the toilet off from the shower area. Convenient to walk to town and easy access to the route to Hobbiton. Kind and friendly owner.

Staff went above and beyond, facilities were great - way much bigger room than expected. Really appreciated heater in the room, especially for the winter season. Quiet for the night for a good rest.

It is old motel, so there are quirks - maybe only slight suggestion is to improve toilet, as it is sort of loud when flushing. Other than that, fantastic and offers good deal of value.

The rooms were value for money. Linen Clean and we were very satisfied with all the facilities. The best part was I had a fall on the kerb outside the Information office in the city and when I came back to the Motel, Maria who was Incharge in the Motel came with her "First aid kit" and attended to my wounds and made me feel comfortable.

We were satisfied customers.

Location to town was great. The shower heat and water pressure was excellent. Parking outside the unit was very generous. Vehicle access very good.

Would have been good to have had larger towel rails and/or hooks for towels/clothing to hang on while showering. Another mirror in the unit other than the one small mirror in the bathroom would have been useful.
