Our time in Nelson was exceptional made all the better with our stay at Waimarie. The room was more than spacious, well appointed, clean, and private. Our hostess was wonderful; cheerful, helpful, accommodating and gregarious. And the location to the river was the bonus and just steps to the ‘centre of NZ’ walking trail.

absolutely nothing … it was a great 3 weeks at this property an I would highly recommend.

Great location and friendly vendor who had heaters on for us prior to arrival. It is not super modern, but clean and functional. Plenty of space. Kids liked the electric blankets.

It was a bit cold, heaters don't really do enough to keep you toasty. The double bed is a bit like balancing on a blancmange, but if you like your beds soft this might be perfect for you. Some blackout curtains would be a welcome addition.

The hostess was fabulous, right from arrival, moving us into a more suitable room so we could all have our own bed and also allowing us to leave our car there if need be, after check out. The location is great, had a lovely river close-by for a nice morning walk, room was a good size for 4 of us and the beds were comfy.

Only slight downside, the pressure in the shower could have been a bit better but all in all, was a great place to stay! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

Incredibly friendly and helpful hosts. The location was perfect. We went for Marchfest and that was an easy 15min - 20min walk. The rest of the city, most popular areas to visit were easy 5min - 10 min walk away. Market, main shopping area, best pubs and bars very easy walk. We stayed in the apartment which had great space to sit and socialised.

The place is tired, which is reflected in the price. The bedroom floors slopped, which could make for interesting sleeping experiences.

It ticked most of the boxes we care about.... Good space/chairs to relax (not the bed), a comfortable king bed, good shower, clean, a kitchenette, patio with a couple of chairs outside, and a convenient location (ability to easily walk to town). They also have a washer/dryer ($2 NZ each) which we really appreciated.

I would have liked a bit better kitchenette setup with a better microwave. We like to cook breakfast in, and having only a microwave and toaster was a bit limiting. I learned to make omelets in the microwave though and they were okay. The Microwave could have been more powerful. I think the addition of a hot plate with a spatula would have helped a lot - maybe they are worried about fire hazards. Wifi was a bit weak

Friendly and obliging staff moved us to quieter room with outdoor sitting area after first night when it became available, comfortable clean, next to river walk and park, coffee by the river became a morning ritual. Close to city centre and you could walk via the river paths or through the town, 5-10 minutes. Comfortable beds and quiet, woken to the sound of birds with heron fishing in the river. Happy to return.

Conscious that it is starting to show its age, but compensated for by above comments.

There were good kitchen facilities and the living area was fairly spacious. The motel was in a quiet garden setting next to the riverside walkway yet was close to the Nelson CBD. A bus stop served by the Route 4 airport bus was nearby.

There were no power points in the bathroom, and only a limited number in the other rooms. There was a heater but no airconditioning. Parking places were limited and small.

The staff lovely, the place very clean and lovely comfy couches.Kitchen well equipt.All the basics needs provided. Central to everything. Grounds well kept. A homely place.and loved the resident dogs so cute.

The only thing that was a problem was the space to get around the bed for one person to get to the bathroom and a lack of a wardrobe, there was a hanging space at before mentioned space at bottom of bed but totally unsuitable as you needed the space..Another bed in the room maybe not necessary? And a rejig?

Our room was spacious and warm. The location was perfect. We could walk anywhere, whether it was to the city centre or along the river to the port. We could walk to Tahunanui or to the centre of NZ if we wished to. If we could've stayed longer, we would have. Ali and her two wee Dachunds were the perfect hosts.

Great location for Nelson city. The apartment was like a small house. Great quiet view of river and although lots of people were walking up and down it didn’t bother us. Host very friendly and made good suggestions for restaurants and sight seeing.

The lighting on the stairs. Plus air conditioning would have been an added bonus on the hot nights we were there.
