A little gem just out of town. Easy to walk to shops and eateries. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Having a bath is a bonus and a perfect way to start a relaxing weekend.
Our only gripe was on that the room was above reception so our last morning was spoiled by a group of adventures waiting to be picked up. Obviously excited about their adventure had no consideration for the people still sleeping above them. They should be asked to meet out side the conference room away from the accommodation. Reception staff should have noticed how noisy they were and asked them to move or keep their excitement contained a little.

I was taking a picnic lunch on a Great Taste Trail and the restaurant lent me plastic containers and flatware that I returned them before I left. I was super impressed with how helpful the staff were. Loved the outdoor patio and the beer selection.
The night we arrived, a large party was dining in a private room in the restaurant and the staffing was inadequate to handle diners in the main room. It took forever to get our food, which wasn't very good. HATED the oldies music that played in the dining room and patio. How about some instrumental jazz or bossa nova, instead?

The room was beautiful, I loved the decor and everything looked brand new. I was able to enjoy the pool at leisure, and I booked the room with the spa hot tub... such a treat after hiking for 5 days! I work in Hospo myself and our standard room is more expensive and more basic than what I got at Tides (it'sin Queenstown, but still!). Far superior for the same price or even cheaper. Such a positive experience. I didn't get to interact with the staff much, as my friend checked us in before I arrived, and check-out was pretty much express. Will definitely stay again if I'm in Nelson again in the future.

Aside from the location, the customer service is just exceptional. My picky 5yo requested for specific food that were not on the menu and they accommodated without any issues, there was even a time when I ordered this chicken dish and forgot to mention to separate the sauce, my son tried but didn’t like it. I asked the lady that I want to order the same dish but put the sauce on the side but she came back with a newly cooked dish with no extra charge. They want you to enjoy your stay and we truly did❤️

Great location next to river. Very Clean. Quirky art. Generous sized room with balcony to enjoy the balmy evenings. Thick towels. Good supply of teabags, plunger coffee, milk & filtered bottles of water in my room. Good restaurant/bar. People seemed to enjoy the pool. Try their excellent Belgian waffles!
A bit of noise from the corridor comings and goings ( it was the weekend) & to be fair it stopped early enough. Good whisky selection but quite a mean pour for the price they charged

Since the refurb it's looking amazing, love the feature wall and arty touches in the bathroom. Decor etc was great. Plenty on outlets for charging etc. Could tell spa bath a little bit older but still amazing for a hotel and great size. Bath salts a really nice touch. Also nice having proper shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturiser. Room service was really fast and polite, steak cooked well wasn't a massive fan of the slice of potato pave but great cook on the steak made up for it. Staff very warm and friendly which is the vibe you want after a long day of work and paying a bit extra for a nicer room etc.
Minor I know but had a large bag and given there is no lift would have been nice to have been offered some help getting my bag up the stairs. Again super minor but didn't find the tissues until the next day when I went to replace the loo paper in the bathroom cupboard. Again not the biggest deal but the after hours menu is a bit lacking, be great to have more hot options

Food was nice in restaurant and we were able to sit out by the river for lunch. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms spacious and very clean. Overall a great place to stay.
We had been originally given a table in the main part of the dining room by the window which would have been lovely. However somebody decided to read their ipad at that table- not eating, waiting for friends... who they sat with at a different table with to eat. We were moved to the bottom part of the dining room with a family of 6 and a single very quiet man.. my friend only had a view of the toilet door, which wasn't pleasant when there were so many other tables not being used in the main area. This was disappointing as we had enjoyed lunch there and looked forward to main dining room for dinner. Spoilt a good meal.

Conveniently located within 5 mins walking to the town centre and all restaurants. The room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Loved the milk and filtered water bottles as well as the assortment of hot beverages. Loved the little touches like robes and body lotion. Staff were friendly and accommodated a 30 min later check out as well as helpful with providing directions and maps.
Nothing, everything was perfect!

My room had a balcony overlooking a tidal river. The bathroom had a heated floor and a jet tub, bath salts provided. The balcony door opened and there was a window that opened too. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Central location within walking distance of downtown and several interesting sites, like the Queen’s Garden.
The Wi-Fi but I think they’d only just started having the problem so front desk staff didn’t know how to fix it. Once I figured out that I could get connected in the lobby, the connection was good in my room. It was a bit annoying that the problem recurred every time they rebooted the wi-fi server every 24 hours but, in the end, no biggie.

I have stayed here several times lately as a tour bus driver with clients and as a private person with my wife I like the central location the hotel is old but functional it has come a long way (had a big makeover) from its trailways days With the tourbus group (Australians) they liked the breakfast and the central location friendly front office staff and the happy hour Bar with river views
If I had to be picky I don't like the shower soap dispensers and i'm not a fan of over the bath showers Rip the baths out put in nice tile showers and you will add value to the place (my opinion)
