From the time we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. The check in process was so easy and the welcome we received was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband was attending a walking football tournament in Saxton. We had to wash uniforms but also had to go to function. I came home and the uniforms were laid out in the bed so they wouldn’t crease. I was so touched by this as it made things so much easier. The apartment was beautiful and exceptionally clean. The bed was so comfy. Location was perfect only a few minutes walk to restaurants and grocery stores. I would not hesitate to stay on our next visit. Highly recommended 😊

Nothing everything was perfect

I was told that staying in a motel was an important part of the New Zealand travel experience and I'm so happy that I chose to stay in what definitely deserves to be rated as the best motel in NZ. Everything about the place was just perfect, from the incredibly friendly reception and helpful tips and recommendations to the beautiful, spotless room with every thing you could ever want or need. I actually was quite taken back by how well equipped the kitchen was with everything that one could ever want. Thank you for all of your kindness and a really lovely comfortable stay. I hope to return!

By far the best place to stay in Nelson & the Top of the South! The owners have put tremendous effort and thought into making sure you will have a terrific stay @ the Palazzo. The rooms are pristine, bright, modern and stocked with all you could need whether you are staying for one night or a couple weeks. The housekeeping staff was very thorough, friendly and accommodating. The grounds were always clean and well-lit. Should you have any questions regarding places of interest, restaurants or where to find things in Nelson or the surrounding area, the staff is very knowledgeable and has a genuine desire to help. They treat you like friends.

Very comfortable and well appointed hotel, located in the heart of Nelson.

I booked via Booking.com, with instructions that I was to pay at the property, however, the hotel took payment before I arrived and I received a number of phone calls to organise payment. I would have been happy to pay up front for the room when I booked. However, I felt a little harrassed and made to feel as though the hotel thought I wasn’t going to pay. If you want payment upfront or before arriving at the property, just say so.

This is an excellent motel in a great location in Nelson. The facilities in the rooms were excellent with all the cooking utensils and facilities we required for our 2 night stay. The staff were excellent in providing very useful guidance on places to visit in Nelson and on our onward journey too.

The mattress was a bit soft for our liking. We are used to a harder mattress but I guess we could have asked to have it changed. Also, too many cushions on the bed, would be good to have less clutter on the bed.

An excellent choice. We have stayed in Nelson on numerous occasions but the Palazzo was by far the best. The owner, staff were so friendly and obliging and nothing was too much trouble. We had the one bedroom apartment which we thought was exceptional value for money given what we had previously paid for hotel accommodation in Nelson. The lounge, kitchen and dining area were a very good size and equipped to a very high standard. The bedroom whilst not massive was ample size for a large double, fitted wardrobe and bedside tables again of good quality and very clean. The bathroom was very big and well stocked with quality towels and toiletries . We also decided to have the continental breakfast which brought daily to our room and was excellent value for money. Would highly recommend and will definitely rebook when we next return to New Zealand.

The rooms were beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and super comfortable. The parking was off street and I was not concerned about the security of our vehicle or its contents. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, giving us clear directions on how to walk to the nearby CBD and a great recommendation for a restaurant for dinner. During a 14 day road trip around the north and south islands staying in motels, this was by far the best. Thank you.

The motel room was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, with a nice kitchenette and plenty of storage space. Comfy beds and great shower. We were able to walk from the motel to a beautiful walking trail taking us to a panoramic view out over the town and harbor, and a wealth of appealing eateries were also just a few blocks from the motel via quiet, pleasant streets. Manager was very helpful in providing information about the community.

Pretty much everything. We loved our stay and didn’t want to leave! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. The blanket and throw pillows I felt made a nice touch. It was nice to sit in front of the tv with a cosy blanket. The kitchenette was functional and had everything we needed. The room was very spacious, cute little balcony. Styled well and had nice little touches to make it feel like a home. Huge bathroom with spa bath. Toiletries were good quality as well.

No exhaust fan over the kitchenette, we managed to set the smoke alarm off twice however the silence alarm button was very handy in our situation. The main TV also could have been set more to the left so both chairs can sit centred to the tv but wasn’t a huge deal

Bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the shower had amazing pressure, like a mini massage. I would stay here again just for that! Also being just around the corner from my conference location at the Rutherford Hotel was great! Loved having a seperate bathroom and living area, so my husband, who wakes up earlier than me, can get up and not disturb me. The nespresso coffee machine and milk frother was great. If only I knew, so I could have taken some capsules with me!

Our unit was next to the main road, and it was quite noisy during the day. Luckily after about 10pm there were not many cars on the road, so we could sleep ok, without earplugs, till about 7am anyway. I didn't know there was a Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother in the room, so did not have nice Nespresso capsules and did not get soy milk, so could not use it 😭
