Really liked this place. The host, Paulina was friendly, engaging, full of helpful suggestions for my stay in Nelson, without pushing anything. Marvelous nourishing breakfast. Beautiful old, timber panelled house. Quiet location (apart from the magnificent dawn chorus)Ten/fifteen minutes walk to centre.

Villa Studio: Spacious suite, overlooking the garden and water feature. It gets the morning sun. I liked the feeling of privacy afforded by its own entrance and patio, and I enjoyed sitting at my laptop with a view of treed hills and greenery. Host Paulina is welcoming and generous. The studio is self-catering (but a plentiful breakfast spread is bookable) and has a king-size bed, sofa and day-bed. The kitchenette has a countertop oven and electric hot-plates, coffee-plungers and plenty of cookware. A mini-fridge is inside cupboards, and a half-size fridge is available in the storage room next door. Luggage racks and clothes-drying rack are provided. Laundry service is offered. The WiFi is very good.

Wonderful personal communication and experience. The space was wonderful, nestled in trees with babbling water and bird song with lots of privacy. The facilities were exceptional, clean with lots of chic personality. Lots of space for storage, comfy bed( mattress/pillow protectors fabulous quality linen and towels). All my possible needs pre thought of. Lots of gentle lighting, charging docks, kitchen well set up, bathroom phenomenal, beautiful sofa by open windows to read/journal, desks to work from, chaise lounge it goes on! Easy walk to city centre and historic areas or lovely walks.
Leaving!

Lovely host! Charming, heritage refinished home. Warm room, very comfortable bed & pillows. aesthetic lighting, writing desk, Wi-Fi, bar fridge & crook ware, underfloor heating in the bathroom. Breakfast not advertised (I'm not a breakfast person) but an amazing spread of health foods, including my own personal omelets were provided with a very warm & pleasant smile. Reflecting back, it felt like I was staying wit a relative. And a short stroll to Central Nelson! Thank you Paulina!
Nothing.

A very spacious studio. Good-sized wet floor shower. Nice hot water supply. Heater kept the studio warm. Place had all the kitchen utensils and items needed. Nice set of glassware for wines. The host was very friendly and helpful.
The size and position of the TV was awkward. Fridge was not easily accessible, and the freezer box didn't work. We found the WiFi not easy to connect to. Driver confidence is needed to access the carpark which is down a steep drive and our bigger car size was a tight fit.

The host was friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Can't say enough about it. It was the best breakfast I had during my six- week stay in New Zealand. It included eggs, bread, fruit, cereal, yogurt, tea/coffee, and a healthy drink with fresh ginger. It's an older place about twenty minutes by foot from the center of town and the bus station up a hill. The view from the kitchen area is great, the room clean and nicely sized, and the bed comfortable.
The shared bathroom needs a little bit more cleaning. The floor was covered with hair.

Wow my whole experience here was fantastic. I received a very warm welcome from the host Paulina. She’s lovely and is really easy to chat too. When I arrived she let me know about a carnival that was happening in town that night which I immediately went to. It was great and I’d never have known if she hadn’t said - very thoughtful. The house is really special - full of character, just like the host. Room had everything I could want and was very comfortable and clean. Shared bathroom with bath and shower was excellent. Room had its own balcony too with a lovely view. Location is superb as the town was just a few minutes walk away. Parking was just down the drive - very secure and close. Breakfast in the morning was so good and thoughtfully done. Amazing. I enjoyed every second staying in this beautiful house and meeting its charming owner.
Leaving. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I had my heart set on Joya Garden cottage the moment I saw it, and it did not disappoint. Everything about it was picture-perfect; Paulina decorated the place beautifully; it had everything we needed and more. The location was secluded yet within walking distance from the town centre. Paulina was a wonderful host and made us feel at home; we would definitely book again should we ever come to Nelson. Thank you
Everything was great

This was such a wonderful place to stay! I stayed here twice, both before and after my tramp in Abel Tasman Park. The house was beautiful, my rooms were set up with everything I needed, and Paulina was a wonderful host. The breakfast spread she sets out is amazing, and she makes a delicious omelette as well. One morning I had to leave early to head out for my trek, and she made me a breakfast to-go, which was also delicious! Overall, I loved the beauty of this home, peacefulness of the setting, and overall warmth and kindness of the host.

Great value for money. I stayed in the lowest cost room - it was comfortable and had nearly everything I needed and more. The owner, Paulina, is super helpful and goes out of her way to help guests and accommodate their needs. She's a mine of information about the local area. Her breakfasts are excellent - so much choice, healthy and tasty. I don't think I've tasted a better one egg omelette (and I could have had a two egg if I wanted). The location is great - 10-15 min walk into town, close to some lovely parks, walkable to the centre of NZ.
(I'm not sure why the 'What I didn't like' answer is showing at the top of the page. The positives vastly outweighed this one drawback.) The only 'could be improved' issue for me: I did have a problem with fluctuating wifi (and the signal shutting down many times) in the room I stayed in. Paulina really worked hard to problem solve it and gave me options of working in other (vacant) rooms with better wifi reach and using her home network. And she is definitely going to investigate and solve the issue.
