Both the room and the bathroom were huge, plenty of space, bed comfy. We took the room with disability access as it was the only room available when we booked but all the rooms looked the same size from the outside, May need to check though. Private outside seating area if weather permits. We didn’t use the jacuzzi bath as we prefer a shower but it looked fun! The shower was the best we’ve had since we arrived in NZ 2 weeks ago. Mike was great, very welcoming and helpful. Convenient stopping point on our route with a couple of eating options close by.

Nothing not to like.

The room was large and roomy, very clean and nice linen. We were warm and comfortable. Had nice utensils and decent fridge ect and great spa bath and bathroom facilities. Easy to use television. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Our room was right next to the main road that has trucks going through constantly so was a bit noisy through the night and early morning. The bed sides were a bit slanted down to the outside of the mattress as mattress was softer so both sides felt like you were on a lean not flat. I fixed this by putting a pillow under the mattress on the edges.

Lovely owners!!- arrived at 9pm on a Friday night. Owner had put outside and inside lights on plus heaters on so the whole place was toasty and warm when we arrived. 2nd night (sat) we got home after 9pm which the owner offered to turn the outside light on for us later in the day which we kindly accepted. he also went in and turned inside lights on and the heaters shut curtains, so place was warm when we got in, was very grateful with 2 young kids!! Kids were happy as, comfy beds, good pressure shower in the 2brd unit. Will stay again next time we come down. thanks so much!!

The team at Wayside Motel went over and above what was expected for guests at the motel. I booked this motel for 2 weeks for one of our builders who had to stay there for a job. The lovely owners were so kind and always looked out for him - even running him to the airport when we were stuck for travel. This place was such a great stay for him when he was away from home. Will definitely book again if we need to. They really care about their guests!

The introduction to the room was great. We were talked through the important things to get the spa bath going and to get to sky sport on the tv. Everything else was straightforward, but that personal touch was nice. The bed was also really comfy and decent sized room.

I didn't like how close to the road it is. Especially peak hour times, it makes it difficult to get out. With a window open, you can hear the road so clearly (we were in the room closest to the road). Not much can be done about that though. Would have liked hot chocolate as a drink option in with the tea and coffee.

The room was huge, it felt great having a lot of seating and tables for things, The shower was amazing, hot and very good water pressure, nice pool cool little area to chill n have a swim not a huge pool but nice size with a walled off seating or paddling area.

The tv was so small in such a big room, but we moved it closer to bed and that was ok, it was raining a lot so i guess it wouldn't have bothered us otherwise.

The owner was so friendly and helpfully you immediately felt at home. We traveled for a wedding and my brother Inlaw needed to take his boat as was heading on holiday on the Monday, and it was no problem to have it parked up at the motel over the weekend, which we really appreciated. We are now talking about taking our whole family to stay at some point in the near future.

Nothing, we highly recommend this Motel.

Mike works so hard for his customers. He's a dawn-to-dusk owner and nothing is a problem. The units, even the more modern ones, are larger than most equivalent motels, so there's plenty of room to sprawl.

The wi-fi can be sketchy as you get further from the central router. And, while it is unavoidable, SH1 does create some noise and a few fun times getting into the flow of the traffic.

Really enjoy our stay here. Mike & Charlotte make your stay easy & welcoming. Rooms are clean & tidy & have everything you need. This is my third stay here & I'll definitely be returning. Thanks Mike & Charlotte for another great stay 😊

Mike and Charlotte were lovely hosts, the rooms were warm and cosy and the location perfect for our stay. On arrival, Mike shared recommendations for places to eat which was helpful. We would certainly stay again in the future.
