The Lodge is a perfect oasis in the northern part of Christchurch and very conveniently located to access Orana Park, Wildlife Reserve, grocery stores and the airport. It is a short drive from the accommodation into the city centre. The hosts are very welcoming and clearly care for the comfort of their guests and the property. The room was spacious and very clean and tidy. We had everything we needed to make dinners including all the essentials. Items were replenished daily including towels and we could not have asked for anything more. Having access to a contained laundry was perfectly convenient, along with a full size ironing board, an external clothesline as well as a clothes airer. I am really looking forward to coming back to Northwood Motor Lodge!

Staying at Northwood Motor Lodge was like coming home. It was great to return to this spacious, clean and comfortable accommodation after our drive around the South Island. Everything was to a consistently high standard that we have appreciated at this venue. The owners are warm, welcoming and genuinely lovely people who make the stay even better. Excellent value for money and located within about 10 minutes drive from the airport which is great for the early flights. Thank you to the hosts for providing a quiet and relaxing space for the end of our vacation.

If you are travelling with teens who love looong showers and you happen to be the last in the queue, you may not have hot water left. Recommend travellers put a time limit on showers to ensure everyone gets to enjoy a warm experience!

Peter gave us a warm welcome on arrival. Offered us extra milk. He took us and showed all amenities. The apartment was so beautiful, an it was immaculate, so spacious, we were so impressed. The garden was so beautifully maintained & kids enjoyed the swing and the trampoline. There was a free laundry room as well. Hot water was good, beds were comfy, fridge was big and spacious. Cooling was good. Parking was right in front. Quiet & peaceful place. We stayed in many places big and small & this was way better than all the big hotels we stayed in. Thanks Peter and Tessa for your extraordinary service.

There was nothing at all

Our stay here was exceptional! From the moment we arrived, Peter & Tessa were fabulous hosts. Our room was spacious, and so clean! Everything had been thought of - the kitchenette was well stocked with all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils needed, as well as plentiful tea, coffee & hot chocolate. The bed was one of the comfiest I had stayed in, and the Sky TV was a welcome addition! We really loved the free use of the washing machine & dryers, with free detergent, such a great touch. Peter & Tessa were very helpful in arranging our shuttle to the airport, and Tessa was ready and waiting for us at our arranged time. Truly the best experience we have had on our travels.

Nothing at all!

Nestled in peaceful surroundings, from the moment you arrive, the welcoming owners make you feel right at home with their warm hospitality. Unwind amidst the lovely gardens. Travelling my young family, we particularly appreciated the trampoline, which is a delightful addition for kids to burn off some energy.

There was a strange tapping noise that stopped and started which sounded like it was from the room next door. Like a showerhead dripping. However, we only stayed one night so we didn't mind.

In a great location for travelling, just outside the city centre in a really nice suburb, close to two large supermarkets and with plenty of parking. A sunny site, great accommodation, and very friendly, helpful staff. It was a delightful surprise and a joy to stay there.

Google maps! I got a bit lost finding it - it's essentially just off the old highway and the new roads make it a bit confusing, but once you know where it is, it's super simple. Head for New World and you can't go wrong!

The size of the family unit was awesome, plenty of space, never felt cramped. Bathroom was huge. Having the 2nd bedroom was such a bonus so we didn’t wake the children when they went to bed earlier. Children loved the park right outside the back door - having a front and back door in the unit was fab. We could sit outside on the outdoor furniture watching them play. Owner Peter was amazing, who done all the little things right! Having sky sports in the room was a treat for the other half.

We didn’t get to stay long enough! No negatives for us at all, as a family, this motel ticked every box.

Was greeted with the warmest of welcomes, friendly and so so polite! The heat pump was turned on and warming up the room when we arrived. The room was a great size, the interior et and TV channels worked flawlessly. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure amazing. We've stayed in a lot of places in chch and this was by far the best. Can't wait to come back

Only con we had, was when the toilet light was turned on, it was very loud. But given the positives in this room, we easily overlooked it

We all really loved staying at this lodge. It's clean, facilities are well organized. And I have stayed in other hotel and motel before and first time I felted so comfortable in this lodge. Really enjoyed staying here it honestly felt like home. The bedrooms was comfortable and big we liked it. It's a must stay place and worth the money you dont be disappointed. This will be my favourite lodge now. Staff's are wonderful friendly and lovely.

I liked everything.

What could be just another NZ Motor Lodge is so much more! The owners clearly pour their heart and souls into this business and it shows. The attention to detail is so refreshing, Peter and Tessa do their upmost to make your stay enjoyable, something so many other places could learn from. We stayed here for 7 nights in a 2 bed unit and absolutely loved our stay. It was amazing value for money. The cleanliness was next level, ultra clean and serviced regularly making it so nice to come back to each day. The gardens are also well tended to making it a lovely peaceful environment to stay in. The location is great also, not far at all from the airport and just off the motorway to get around easy. I used the buses each morning to go to work in the CBD and it was an easy 15 min walk to the bus stop. The Internet / Wifi was super quick, I was achieving speeds of over 600m/sec so can handle anything you throw at it. The number one reason I will be back again is the service and cleanliness. Thanks Peter and Tessa for making our stay so enjoyable, it was really appreciated and we will see you again!
