ThisB&B was an old and charming home in a wonderful location to see sights and find restaurants. The house was very clean with relaxing gardens. The hosts were welcoming and gave helpful information about things to see and where to eat. The cappuccino was throughly enjoyed!
We had a room on the ground floor which I appreciated however our private bathroom was a separate room. This meant leaving the bedroom to enter the bathroom which was open to the main hallway and front door. We often felt a bit exposed and would have liked some screen or even the hall door closed so we were not so visible when guests walked through the front door or to the kitchen.

Comfortable, quiet, cozy stay outside the centre of Christchurch. Whole house is decorated very lovingly, familial atmosphere as you see hosts and other guests everyday at breakfast for a little chat. Breakfast continental or cooked breakfasts prepared fresh for you. Hosts were very caring, gave tips for the area, you can pet the dogs. You park on the side of the road, no problem though as there was always space when we were there.
No critique but my partner said he didn't know the ceiling of our upstairs room and bathroom would be so low. As it's an attic room be ready to stoop a little. : D

Pam & Denis (& Ralph) were the perfect hosts, nothing too much trouble. Our room was super spacious our bathroom to absolutely die for and breakfast amazing. If ever staying in Christchurch again we would definitely want to stay here. Super easy bus routes into town, to the airport and the Antarctic Centre - all bus stops a short walk away. Simply put this place is a totally hidden oasis and it was perfect for us.

Loved this small BnB. The gardens are beautiful. The room was well appointed and the bathroom nice. Good location in Christchurch. The breakfast was terrific. The hosts were lovely people.
I booked the attic room because I wanted a King bed. In hindsight I’d have preferred a queen room on the main floor. I kept bumping my head. And it was unseasonably warm during our stay making the upstairs a little hot.

We had a great stay at Lilac Rose and at Christchurch. Pam and Denis were wonderful hosts, beautiful breakfast each morning and then super helpful tips on touring spots and driving tips too :). Our attic room was fantastic with a nice reading alcove. Really nice to meet other travelers from around the world. Will be sending our NZ bound friends here!

We arrived in the early evening (off the train from Greymouth) to be greeted with tea and home-made cake. The hosts were very friendly and gave us information about Christchurch. A guest lounge allowed us to meet other guests. There was a good choice for breakfast, which was served in the hosts' kitchen / sitting room, adding to the sense of homeliness. Our room was comfortable and had a spacious bathroom (for our exclusive use) immediately adjacent. A good bus service into town was available, as was parking on the street outside.

Pam and Dennis were lovely hosts and the breakfast was wonderful
Bathroom was not en suite. Though there was a picture of an en suite bathroom on the Booking.com website, that was not for all rooms. It's inconvenient and distracting to walk into a lit hallway to use the facilities in the middle of the night.

Great location, easy to walk or get a bus into town. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly, including two dogs! The breakfast was great, with both hot and cold options. The attic room was comfortable, quiet, and private. The hosts kindly let us leave our luggage there after checkout as we had a later flight. It was a lovely property. Would definitely recommend!

Very friendly hosts, delicious breakfast and comfortable bed.
The advert said private bathroom but I didn't realise this was separate from our bedroom, with a door from the hallway, albeit right next to our bedroom door. Other than that it was a lovely place to stay.

Our host Pam and her Partner were such lovely friendly people who made us feel so welcome. We arrived to a small refreshing afternoon tea served in the guest living room. Next morning a perfect breakfast presented on a table in the morning sunshine was great. Fresh orange juice, continental and cooked breakfast on offer with coffee/tea, toast and preserves. An interesting cottage full of interesting collections from the past.
