We wanted a reasonably priced comfortable safe place for a weekend break away from home (Timaru) while visiting friends and family and we got it. Being familiar with the Scenic Hotel standard (have visited Blenheim a number of times), we had confidence in the brand. The wait staff were excellent, as was the standard of the food and presentation. We appreciated the low cost up grade to a 1 bedroom unit. Top marks!

The bed was firmer than I am used to. The couch, a little close to the TV. Next time we will ask for a ground floor room with parking handy to the room.

I did not purchase the breakfast so I can't comment on that. The staff were very helpful. There was a problem with the door lock on my motel unit and they moved me to another unit at once. The complimentary afternoon tea in their restaurant was unexpected and very delicious. It wasn't a problem at all but I was in one of the older motel units not the tudor style accommodation as seen in most of the photos. But it was comfortable.

Finding that the unit door could not lock was worrying, but the staff attended to it straight away.

This was one of the best hotels Ive ever stayed at. The rooms were very nice, we were given a free upgrade to a suite, which made our stay very more relaxed. The beds and the bathroom were comfortable, and well appointed. Parking was in an inside court making it very safe. The lounge had a large Smart TV coffee, wine, snacks etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All were very solicitous about our well being and our visit. The food was better in the hotel than elsewhere in the area though we tried several other restos.

The breakfast buffet was excellent. The whole family enjoyed it. The suite was updated and very spacious. The staff were excellent. We liked the motif and the location.

Our only complaint is that one of the main reasons that we booked this hotel was the pictures of the beautiful pool. The pool is out of order and there is no timeline for when it will be fixed yet. They did send us an email saying they were "under construction." We really wish they had told us in advance that the pool was not working. They do have an agreement with another hotel about a 5 minute walk away to use that pool, but its not the same as the pool being open in the hotel you are staying at.

Staff were very friendly and understanding. We areived late on 25th and they welcomed us warmly. We were also a little late to check out the next day and they graciously extended the check out by 40mins. The showers was wonderful and it was quiet at night.

Birds woke us up fairly early in the morning. Also shocked me the first time when I saw someone standing right outside the bathroom, along the hallway leading to the side stairs. Conversations of anyone walking along those stairs can be heard quite clearly.

I liked the comfortable bed. We were given a different room than the motel room we had booked.

Unfortunately the room did not offer the same facilities as the motel room we had booked, eg fridge, toaster so we had food that we had to throw out and change our plans and eat out more. The room we were given was at the front street Papanui street and it was very busy and noisy. Also the pool was closed for maintenance and we were given the option to use one down the road from a motel, 5 minutes on foot. Ask before you book.

Based on the photos, the rooms exceeded our expectations. The Cotswald has a quaint charm about it, and the rooms are very modern, spacious, and clean. Location is great as it is quiet, and within walking distance of shops and restaurants up and down the road. Also a relatively easy walk into the city. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. We stayed 9 nights, and would love to come back again.

Our family of four stayed here over Christmas and absolutely loved it. The family suite was fabulous. Beautifully fitted out, spacious and comfortable. The staff were absolutely delightful and went out their way to make Christmas really special. The whole place had a really nice friendly feel. We had breakfast each morning which was superb. Christmas lunch in the restaurant was also fabulous. Only negative was the pool was out of order which we were initially very disappointed about, but the weather turned out to be a bit cool for swimming so not a problem.

Friendly staff. Location. Setting. Facilities. Comfortable bed. Good size room.

Breakfast options were confusing when we arrived, the lovely restaurant attendant (new to the role, English not her first language) assumed we wanted full breakfasts when we said we only wanted bagels and muesli she didn't understand. After trying without success to get understood I gave up and ending up paying for 3 full breakfasts that we didn't want. I only ate muesli but paid $34. Having to fill our drink bottles from the bathroom tap. Not having plates or cutlery in the room for use with takeaway. Not having allocated parking, we were unable to get a park anywhere near our room.

Excellent size room , parking and not far from town.

Breakfast let this motel down, food wasn't great quality and cold. Didn't like the receptionist phoning us at one minute past 10 telling us to get out, either though we're were just loading the car up . No Sky tv like most of the motels we have stayed in
