This is our third stay, the location is great and quiet if you're in the units away from the main stay The shower was fabulous, clean, the kitchen fabulous, great fridge and we were upgraded. The wee bedside lights were awesome, and our last 2 nights were great. The receptionist on Saturday the 1st was the most genuine, lovely, helpful lady and sorted our room. She's hands down an asset. The strawberry fair is to die for

The first night was very busy, from 9pm till midnight, there was a group of loud men, banging door, laughing, talking loud, in and outside for over 3 hrs. There was no point complaining as it was different people at a golf tournament. I emailed the reception. The next morning, she gave us a quiet room away from the main building, so quiet, upgraded, and we were thankful as... The beds are too hard though, main stay on my bed left me barely able to get out of bed, and my back ceased up. The 2nd room was better, but I still got a mild sore back

The location of Carlton Mill is brilliant - so close to Strawberry Fare Restaurant makes it super convenient and the meals are delicious and their staff are super friendly. I love crossing the road to walk in Hagley Park, such a beautiful park, and the closeness to the city centre. Onsite free parking is a real bonus too. Our room was also perfect - clean, comfy bed and all the amenities you need. Real value for money.

Bath cracked and the shower leaked water all over the corner of the bathroom floor. It took me ages to mop it up. I used two big towels in the unit. There was so much water in the corner it went behind the toilet, and all around the toilet brush holder etc. The room felt a bit old and tired, yet still comfortable!

Big room, we really liked that it had a kitchenette with a small fridge. A bit chilly in the bathroom but there was a heating fan that you could turn on. We liked the location right by hagley park and some restaurant options nearby. Also very nice that we could do our laundry there for a small fee. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions :) We checked in in the middle of the night and it worked super smooth.

This was booked as a last minute stay, and I was very impressed by the value for price. The staff were very friendly and the lobby was beautiful. I was impressed with the room as well - it was spotless and spacious. I really enjoyed the terrace and was pleasantly surprised by the little details in the room - coffee, tea, hot chocolate with a French press coffee maker, dish soap, cutlery….

I booked a king suite room and was given a queen suite room - I only paid $5 more for the king bed but I was still hoping it was going to be a king bed. However, I did request a room on the 2nd floor so maybe that was all that was available.

The room was very convenient for us arriving off an international flight and allowing us to settle in. The room was spacious, well laid out and well supplied with teas, coffees and kitchen facilities. Bathroom was easy to access with good sized shower and toiletries. Staff were helpful and welcoming.

We were attending a wedding and needed to be picked up at 2 pm by a bus. We forgot to ask for an early check-in and they had been completely full the night before. We called an our out from the hotel to ask if it was possible to get in early. Unfortunately, this was at a really busy time but the cleaners were amazing and we only had to wait 30mins and got into our room at 12.30 Thanks to the Cleaning staff and management our 2 storey 3 bedroom unit was perfect for our stay

The room was spacious, great layout, the kitchen was tidy and had everything we needed, bed was comfortable. The bathroom and especially the shower were dated but clean and tidy. FOH staff were exceptional. Great initial encounter at check-in, and the other staff we bumped into were also friendly. Overall the place is clean and today and well presented. Would definitely book again.

Comfortable room and bed with good service between days of my stay. Good bathroom. Nice arrangement of the little kitchen facilities. Particularly liked the on-site Strawberry Fayre which was good and very convenient although the stairs to the seating area were very steep and not accessible for disabled. Small seating area downstairs but no atmosphere there.

My room's sliding window had been left open on the ground floor which meant it was accessible by anyone from the path outside. I did not realise for a while. Also reception was very brief ( we arrived about 5.30pm so lady was waiting to go home I think). No reception after 7pm only a telephone number to ring. Access to car park a trifle tricky crossing another road. My accompanying family"s security lock on their sliding window fell off when touched as only held on by 1 screw. Given a screwdriver to fix it! Reported and fixed next day.

Very comfortable large double bed and met the very basic requirements kitchenette neatly hidden in a 'cupboard'. We were very happy with this as have been staying in self catering units whilst touring New Zealand. Staff on reception were very friendly, and free parking was much appreciated.

The room/suite had a tiny apology for a balcony that was shared with the neighbouring room and directly facing a staff service corridor, so was unlikely to ever be used (other than slightly opening the patio door for ventilation. The shower was adequate, but not very powerful. The toilet only had a single long flush - not very water efficient.
