We arrived in mid-winter and were given a spacious air-conditioned suite with a king-size bed and a single bed. There was a modern en-suite with a large spa-bath and also a well-stocked kitchen area with microwave and fridge, a large wide-screen high definition smart TV and sufficient storage space, power points etc. The full English breakfast in the central amenities block had plenty of choices, the staff were delightful and the service was prompt. Nearby, this area also included "Graeme's Bar" - with a 24 hr. snack/light meal menu and more dining tables and chairs in a cosy museum-like space. This is packed full of interesting items and dioramas, featuring episodes in the life of the Horncastle family, who own the property.

The mattress on the king-size bed was worn out and uncomfortable. It sagged so badly on one side that my partner had to use the single bed. (A replacement is on the cards, following our complaint). The en-suite had unusual heating: a fan-heater mounted vertically on the wall. Unfortunately for us, the heater model had been declared unsafe and consequently had been disconnected, so showering needed to be a rapid in-and-out. The bath towels were on the small side and the toilet paper was very flimsy.

Fantastic themed restaurant on site with lots of historical stuff This hotel is very well set up and one of our favourite places to stay. Super handy to the city centre, very spacious lovely quiet rooms Breakfast is available and is a full buffet - very nice. Great little swimming pool and spa if you are travelling with kids Other restaurants and casino are within walking distance.

Parking on site is available, but very busy - if you get in late, good luck getting a park as this place is so popular. It is also quite tight getting around with a larger car. We were disappointed that we had supposedly booked with breakfast included on Booking.com but were advised that it was extra when we checked in. (however, not necessarily a Pavillions fault - maybe Booking.com or a misunderstanding on our part) A mirror in the main bedroom would be helpful.

the hotel has a good location, close to airport, close to city center, so you can take a taxi, rent a scooter or just walk, if the wheather allows. there are some decent food options around, if you dont wanna go far. The room itself is spacious enough, all usual amenities included. Both room and bathroom were clean. It was even possible to checkin early, really appricieted that.

only things i probably didnt like, was the paper walls, we heard everything around and outside as is was in the room. but thats a problem on most hotels.

the staff were friendly from the outset. The English lady at reception and the young blonde with a plait in the breakfast service were stand outs. sorry i took note of the names and can’t find them. the breakfast service young lady was amazing and we loved how she interacted with a very elderly lady. helping her above and beyond. The pool and Spa were very nice and the breakfast was fantastic

nothing

Checking in was very fast, the room clean, tidy. The bed was very comfortable with a good range of pillows to choose from. The breakfast was great and the location was very convenient. As we travel to Christchurch regularly this is our go to hotel.

The receptionist that checked me in was quite abrupt, just a simple "enjoy your stay" or "have a nice day" would have been nice but she hardly spoke then just handed me the keys and walked away. I guess I interrupted her lunch.

The French Bar man didnt have any idea really, Every time I went to bar to get Drinks (we were with 2 other couples I said put this round on my room. End of the night I asked to see what was on my room and there was nothing but a bar tab of around $400 +dollars which included meals. Went through it with another bar man and said what wife and I had to eat and drink which came to about $180.00 he assured nothing else was charged to our room When checking out Found an additional $112 was charged to our room This was credited after discussing with the duty manager. All could have been avoided if the Barman charged our room each time as I had asked.

The hotel is located amongst other accommodations. It is a good location to places and airport. It is though old room but clean and sufficient. I liked the 'pavillion' style. Unfortunately we did not get to stay in one of the pavillions but in the main builing. But that's fine.

The staff or manager? The lady took our phone as well as on checking in, was not friendly. No words, just gave the keys (cards) and when I asked where the room was, she just replied "Your room is here".. No other nice welcoming words. We drove around 3 times to realise that "here" meant inside the main building where the reception was. When we checked out or returning the key, nobody asked connected as well. Pity.

The location is wonderful. I had a really pleasant stay at Pavilions. It was very close to Hagley as well and I enjoyed running around the area. The staff were very pleasant to interact with. The breakfast was simple but it was really good. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from and there were some healthy options as well. The room was big and spacious with a lot of sunlight, cable tv was present with lot of channels (including sports ones) and the kitchen was fully stocked.

Honestly, couldn’t find much faults with the place.

The breakfast was one of the best I have had at a hotel in New Zealand. Variety of egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and hash browns, as well as filter coffee, juices, cereals, danish pastries, and fruit. Wow. Initially my room I was given was not the room in the pictures, but they managed to give me it in the end. It had a spa bath under a large window which was great. The one bedroom apartment had a very comfortable lounge area and many sky channels. Functional kitchen. Good lighting and heating.

Some noisy traffic outside bedroom windows until the early hours. The bed in the one bedroom apartment could probably do with an upgrade, but we still slept well. Onsite parking a bit tight for a longish car depending where you park.

We had a very seamless move of rooms and the new room was brilliant and the bed was outstanding. Breakfast restaurant was lovely.

Our first room was ok but the bed was shocking and I had a terrible night sleep. The reception manager was brilliant. I did even think about moving room but the manager suggested it and I was extremely grateful. I just wanted to give feedback on the bed after the first night. Definitely hard to find your room on arrival in the dark.
