Please note this review is based on a double room with private bathroom. Please see my other review for twin room with shared bathroom. The hostel was close to the main square (5-minute walk) but far enough to avoid the chaos, including a 2-day long celebration with marching bands and fireworks. The staff were extremely friendly and allowed us to store luggage for 6 days for free while we visited the Sacred Valley, hiked the Inca Trail and visited Machu Picchu. Staff were also transparent about the water issues (not always the case in Peru) and advised us the best time to shower to get hot water. Extra blankets were provided though not required. Room was more like a chalet, split over two levels, and almost twice the size of the town room. Having stayed in a town room before the Sacred Valley/Inca Trail/Machu Picchu, I would definitely recommend paying slightly more for this room type. The only reason I have not rated this 10/10 is because the breakfast was on the basic side.
N/a. It would be unfair to comment negatively on the wider water issues, especially since the staff were upfront about this on our arrival.

Twin room was spacious compared to private room in Lima and Nazca. Decent value for money in Cusco, though I would recommend spending slightly more for a room with private bathroom - it is around twice the size and more like a little chalet, split over two floors.

Amazing place to stay in the heart of old town. Hatun Quilla exceeded my expectations - mainly because of Julio, the manager. He was incredibly helpful in anything we needed, tours, machu pichu, amazon, etc. We came back three seperate times between excursions and Julio was more than accommodating, allowing us to keep our bag in safe storage. The rooms were great and were cleaned every day. The location was just a bit outside the main square and inside a court yard, offering a bit of seclusion in busy Cusco. It was very well priced as well offering great value. Definitely stay here!
The walls were thin so you could hear a lot, but that is the usual for Peru.

The location is perfect. So close to the main plaza but quiet overnight.
Water pressure is a common issue in Peru. It worked out if you shower before 7pm or in the morning.

Room was very comfortable and the staff very helpful. The location is very central and just next to it there is a travel agency, dry cleaning, pharmacy and a grocery store

The owner of the hostel and his family were incredibly nice persons that they got the ticket for some activities such as Machupichu. It was very helpful for us. Also the view from the dining room that we had breakfast was pretty nice! Warm water, clean room, pretty interiors were also nice.

Great location, clean room, friendly staff. Good basic breakfast of x1 savoury bread roll and x1 sweet roll
Room was a bit cold and dark. Shower never got properly hot but I understand this is common in Cusco!
