Gorgeous property. Although almost nothing is walkable in the area, the property itself was gorgeous. The rooftop is spacious and well maintained. The pool is great. The staff is very kind and we dined at the restaurant every night. It is a convenient location if you have a car. We would love to come back.

The water was often luke warm if not even cold. I'm sure it was due to showering during busy times during peak season though.

Nice hotel in amazing place

Very basic breakfast for four star hotel , need to improve , if You want 10 points of 10 for hotel ratings. Cofe is not cofe, its drink with cofe taste.

Idyllic, not too busy, clean, comfortable , plenty of parking space and bus stop in front of the hotel.

You do need to take the car or bus to get anywhere. The street isn't easily walkable.

Clean, comfortable room with balcony. Good views of Funchal.

WiFi at best intermittent and then very weak. Very poor phone signal.

shower leaked, so mopping up reasonable amounts of water each day - impossible to stop it. bar wasn’t open and public areas lacked atmosphere at this time of year (early March). Quite a long walk to get to a restaurant or bar. outside of the hotel, area is rather scruffy

There are great views over the city and the bay.

The amazing views is of course something that has to be mentioned and cannot be missed, beautiful sunrise and sunsets and views across the bay, the lights of an evening at Christmas are stunning. The staff, all of them, area fabulous, nothing is a trouble. The food in the restaurant is also some of the best in Madeira, some say a little pricy but for us coming from the Uk the prices were average and not more than we expect. The rooftop pool and bar areas are a must see and if you care to walk you can quickly climb up hidden staircases outside the hotel and be over 1000ft above sea level, looking down on the world. This hotel is somewhere to completely unwind and decompress. There is a free shuttle bus down to the town which is very handy as you would not want to walk it, even for me this would be a push to do both ways. Food tip: if you like prawns - the garlic prawns with a bolo do caco is a must have, the portion sizes are generous for everything so sharing is a good option.

The only very small thing that let it down for me were no tea/ coffee making and no iron in the room (although the staff did iron an outfit for us when we asked for an iron, amazing!). I also hate plastic waste so please use a more sustainable shampoo/ body wash option & change to permanent glasses in the bathroom. Coffee and juice at breakfast could be better.
