The location is excellent situated very close to the Fort in the Old Town of Funchal. Good sea views, very close to local bars and restaurants.The hotel facilities are very good; the indoor pool is very large, and being adults was quiet.plenty of sunbeds well spaced apart around outdoor pool and garden The room was a little small but very comfortable with a nice terrace giving views of a pretty garden and sea.. Not sure about the kitchenette area as it did not have a microwave and only 2 cooker ring , we would have appreciated more wardrobe space.ri The restaurant and bar are good well laid out with lots of space both inside and outside. There was d plenty of choice in the buffet the A La Carte was limited. Service excellent.

Our only problem was the bathroom which had a shower over the bath which is not good for elderly people with limited mobility - and a lot of people at the hotel were elderly. The hotel provided a chair but not a good or safe option. Needs more rooms with walk-in showers

Although the hotel is a 4 star, the service is more like as in a 5 star. Arguably the best location in Funchal, with a direct access to the ocean, great outdoor area with a nice pool bar.

For the love of god, please hire qualified musicians for live music in the evenings. Both the pianist during dinner and a cover musician at the “captain’s bar” were hard to listen to. We had to take our drinks to the room because it was unbearable.

What a classy hotel! Every staff member was so polite, efficient, smartly dressed and clearly enjoyed their jobs. Situated on the water front, next door to the old town, which is chock full with bars, restaurants & the famous painted doors and muraled walls. It's also on level ground, unlike most of Funchal. Our bedroom overlooked the park and was very spacious and comfortable. Beds were particularly comfy. We also had a kitchenette, but didnt use it, preferring to eat out and breakfast was included. Food at the hotel was varied, good quality and well priced. Shout out for the Captain's Bar Happy Hour at 17.00 each day, as that was fabulous. A good selection of drinks included and such good value. The roof terrace with loungers & a large jacuzzi is a great place to relax with a stunning view of Funchal... as was the pool area where lunch & drinks can be enjoyed. There are some nice bars right opposite the hotel too. We particularly enjoyed Bar No 2. In conclusion, this hotel is simply superb, is extremely good value as the many repeat customers would so say too. Highly recommended. Hope to return soonest.

Our room overlooked the park and does at times have a few unsavoury characters hanging around. However this did not detract from our stay as they kept themselves to themselves.

Beautiful property right in the middle of town, easy walking distance to everything.

The reception staff were always really friendly, but the staff by the pool bar were so unfriendly that we ended up feeling too uncomfortable to eat or drink there. We were a pair of friends in our 30s (we don’t drink aside from one cocktail a day by the pool) and the youngest on the resort so it may have been that, we did also notice a lot of the older guests being rude and demanding of the bar staff so we may have been catching the brunt of the bad mood that would naturally cause, but it’s worth mentioning while writing an honest review. It’s a nice hotel and our money is as good there as someone twice our age but it’s the only place in Madeira we felt we were treated differently so if you’re under the age of 60 it’s worth just being prepared for

Good rooms, place is central and than so quiet. Warm swimmingpool big + ! Good breakfest and staff very professional and friendly. Very good kingsize beds !

Rooms doors need make so that when y close not be noice , night when y sleep and neighbour room close doors y wake up :(

Excellent, friendly helpful staff - very professional. Excellent location for Old Town. Musical entertainment in the bar each evening we were there.

Quality of breakfast was “ok” but not the best compared with other hotels in similar price range. The food in the evenings was very good though. Being an Adults Only hotel seemed to determine that the other guests were predominantly elderly retired folk. While this is not necessarily a negative, it is something to be aware of when booking.

Room 27 on the Ground Floor was superb, we had Room 23 last year and both were great with access to the garden and pool from the balcony gate. Walking with a stick made life for me much easier. Breakfast and dinner both excellent and the staff went out of their way to help us on anything. Mr Andrea on Reception was exceptionally helpful and Lila who cleaned our room did a wonderful job. The swimming pools were fabulous. Can't wait to visit again.

Nothing to dislike.

We stayed at the hotel at the same time back in November 2023. The hotel lived up to our high expectations from that previous visit. The breakfast was superb. The location could hardly be better, close to the old town, buses the cable car and large number of restaurants. The room was spacious, the hotel even arranged for us have the same room from last year as we loved the location! We do travel frequently on holiday and this hotel remains a firm favourite

Nothing springs to mind

Breakfast was buffet and had an excellent selection of hot and cold with no limit to the amount you wanted. The hotel was about a 10 mins walk into the center of town. The room we booked had a good size balcony with a view of water

It sounds silly, but the shampoo was in the wall under the shower head, so,if you just wanted to wash you hair you had to get semi undressed and expect to get a least wet feet and legs

I can't leave a review as we were moved to one of the sister hotels last minute. We did walk through the hotel one afternoon for a luck. Its in an excellent location very close to the center of Funchal and cable car. The hotel that they upgraded us to was absolutely fabulous but it was 30 minute walk into the center of Funchal.
