Very nice property and 10 min walk to town or beach. Breakfast was very elaborate with lots of options (although some was a little bland, but some was good - real honey was fantastic). Coffee in room and welcome wine. Parking is on the street but was a short walk. Shower was hot. The Turkish/Stream room plus sauna were good (30mins free). Very clean.

Try to enjoy our little balcony but smokers in several other rooms would blow down to our room (#6). TV was very small, only 12 stations (only SkyNews in English) and no easy way to connect a Streaming option.

Breakfast was excellent. Pool at main house was beautiful. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.

I didn't care for the guesthouse. This was my error in not speaking with them directly when booking and understanding the difference. We had a terrible balcony view of an ugly apartment building across the street. It was disheartening being walked through the beautiful grounds of the main house only to be walked across the street to the guesthouse which doesn't come close to comparing. The bathrooms at each of the pools did not have a lock that worked.

Excellent quality/price ratio. The best breakfast in all our trip to Portugal, so many and so fresh products. Several salted and sweet home made cakes. everything was so delicious! Very clean property. Typical southern Portuguese residence, very charming with all services and commodities and well located, walking distance to down town Lagos. All services are those of a 5 star hotel.

I booked Charming Residence & Guest House Dom Manuel because of all the great reviews I had read regarding their breakfast, and it exceeded my expectations! This was by far the best breakfast buffet without a chef that we have ever had. They had an incredible variety of quiches, a salad area, desserts, meat selection, standard breakfast (eggs, sausage, beans, etc), and pastries. Each morning was a different selection of scrumptious tarts and quiches. They also offered complimentary use of the sauna, which I thought was a nice touch since it was cold when we went in April. The hotel was minutes away from the beach, so we were able to take lots of great pictures at sunset. They also recommend a traditional Portugese restaurant down the street. We ate there and the food was great. We were pleasantly surprised that they also had fado music, which was a great experience.

I picked a room in the Guest House and although it was clean with a nice little balcony, it didn't have much character. Next time, I would choose a room in the main house. It was quiet though and just across the street from the main house. Had its own little pool as well. Even though the room was fairly standard, I rated the residence a "10" because of the breakfast.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of February, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! It's a beautiful little hotel. Excellent location - 10 minute walk to the old town, and a 5 ish minute walk to the beach/boardwalk. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, and the whole place lives up to its name - it's super charming! The beds were comfortable, the room was super clean and we had a little balcony overlooking the pool area which we really liked. The best part about it all? The breakfast. The BREAKFAST. 10/10. I wish I could have eaten it all day!! Would highly recommend this hotel, and we will be back there in a heartbeat should we return to Lagos!

Nothing!!

The breakfast is a high point of the day. Nothing short of superb. The setting eating is most comfortable, inside or out. Lots of room, very pleasant surroundings, all you can eat. Never tried the swimming pool or the saunas but we saw that others tried to sauna. In fact, for low season, in February, Dom Manuel had a lot of business, which must speak to the popularity of the place. The staff were very helpful, calling us a taxi on the day of our departure. They suggested a place to dine which was close to the facility, Auli's I think it was called. The food was excellent, better than excellent, and the waiter most accommodating and knowledgeable. The meal was probably the best of our two month stay in Spain and Portugal. The pricing was reasonable too. What a find. What a recommendation from the Dom Manuel staff. If a treat is what you are seeking, Dom Manuel is the place.

The breakfast was a real highlight. Every morning there was something new, different, and tasty to try out. The hotel was really nice, lovely decor, and had a nice atmosphere to it. The hotel bar, pools, and sauna were also very nice.

The breakfast was very fresh with lots of variety. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had accidentally booked an extra night at the end which I didn't realize until check in and they kindly refunded me for the final night despite having not selected the option for free cancellation. I would definitely return to this hotel.

The rooms were quite noisy from early in the morning, can hear everything from outside in the hall/corridor and the pathway outside but they do provide ear plugs.

The room was comfortable and spacious with a small balcony. The breakfast was delicious and we used the 30 mins free sauna and steam which was very nice. We also swam in the pool. The outside area is very attractive. The location is a good - just a short stroll into Lagos old town which is gorgeous. We also drove to the coast and walked along the cliffs with their beautiful views and went down the steps to the lovely little coved beaches. It was March so not sea-swimming weather but the walk was lovely. The staff in the hotel were very helpful with local information and maps. All in all a lovely stay.

This was one of our fave hotels on our road trip around Portugal. It was clean, cute and spacious. I loved the balcony. We loved the big shower and the simple fact that they had an exhaust fan in the bathroom, which many hotels do not have. They also had a functioning AC unit, which most do not in March as often it’s central and you can’t use AC. Since this was a separate unit we could. Also a hair dryer with a styling piece was a nice addition. Very charming place at a really good price and good breakfast. About an 16 minute walk to main town. Wish we had been able to stay another night.
