The location, the setting, the pool near the beach, the view. The hospitality. The kindness of the people. Very close to Lagos old town. Great Place to stay!! Woud only recommand.

Our room was next to the breakfast area and close to the front door. We could hear Everybody with an early departure leave and woke up from tables being set, dishes etc. That was the only remark we had. A few days getaway without the kids…. Would have loved to sleep in. Our room was room nr 3. Other then that… only positive feedback.

This was our favorite stay during our long stay in Portugal. We loved the hotel. It was clean and spacious. Plenty of space to unpack your suitcase and spread out. The shared living space was very nice as well. The people that worked there were so very friendly and helpful. Natalie made us dinner reservations and cleaned all of our laundry. Natalie and Bruna, that work at Villa Esmeralda, were my favorite guest relations individuals on our whole trip. They was always someone there to make us coffee, have champagne, water or a snack. That was a very nice touch that I didn’t see many other places in Portugal. The view from the hotel was incredible!!! It is just a short distance down the hill to get to the ocean. And it’s in walking distance to two amazing restaurants on the water. You could also walk easily into town, although we did not as it rained 2 of the 3 days we were there. I loved everything about this hotel and would definitely recommend it.

We liked absolutely everything about Villa Esmeralda! Natalie, the manager, was absolute delight and very helpful with different topics. Property itself located on the beautiful coast of Algarve and has stunning views to the ocean. It walking distance from some very good restaurants as well as you can make a little hike on the coastline, we recommend sunset time! Breakfast was absolutely delicious with variety of options. We also liked that we always had same table for our breakfast. Parking is available on the property which is very convenient when you traveling by car. Would definitely stay there again!

We arrived to a private villa located just by the sea, amazing service and spotless cleanliness. The breakfast was tasty and filled with various options. Different types of bread, cheese, ham, fresh fruit, yoghurt - you name it. The very kind staff greets you in the morning by kindly bringing your choice of drinks (various coffees, tea and/or juice) directly to your table. The set up of the breakfast combined with the breathtaking view overlooking the garden and sea is an experience itself. Stunning! If you want to go to the beach or lay by the hotels own pool, the villa provides you with a parasol and fresh beachtowels. All you have to do is put on your swimwear and head down the stairs right onto the beach and jump into the sea or smoothly step into the pool surrounded by palmtrees. The manager Natalie is far beyond kind, greeting every guest and providing all the information and help you need. There is nothing quite like the Villa Esmeralda!

The location, outside Lagos' busy city center, was ideal. The villa sits on a bluff above the crashing Atlantic Ocean waves. The Villa is moorish in style, the decor is lovely. Breakfast buffet each morning was yummy and there are tables inside and outside. Plenty of seating for the spot of your choice. We loved hanging out on the grounds in the late afternoon, the beach below active with locals. We felt like we had the place all to ourselves as there are secluded spots to sit and relax. Our balcony faced the ocean but we preferred being downstairs on the lawn under an umbrella. Staff are very accommodating, especially Natalie the property manager.

The breakfast was amazing. It was located in the dining/reception area. Tables were set outside to enjoy your breakfast and the amazing view. The villa was impeccably clean. The landscaping well maintained. The perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. This villa was the most beautiful property I have ever stayed at. Everything was lovely.

Beautiful property to sit and enjoy water views and such easy access to a great beach. Natalie was wonderful and went out of her way to be helpful! Buffet breakfast outstanding.

Could use cushions on outdoor chairs, and an armchair under porch would be nice addition. Suggest not nickel and dime for thing like water and set up tea in afternoon

This tiny hotel is very charming and the staff are wonderful. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. The director of the hotel; her name escapes me; was absolutely lovely and accomodating.

As we arrived late due to a delayed flight, the two ladies who greeted us spoke no english. So, that was difficult for us and them! That night we went out for a late dinner and came back to find the gate locked. They probably explained this to us but the language barrier kept us from understanding. This was a small thing.

Villa Esmeralda is exceptional! We were greeted warmly upon arrival and given a welcome glass of wine. We felt welcomed the entire stay. The entire property was exceptionally clean. The location of the property couldn't be beat!

The breakfast was lovely with very nice personal touch. There was a nice variety of European selections.

It would have been nice to have a small nespresso or keuriig in our room, or have access to coffee prior to the 8:30 am breakfast time.
