We loved our stay at Cerdeira — it was one of the absolute highlights of our 4 weeks on the road. We stayed in the Vale Cottage and enjoyed every minute of it. The views are simply unbeatable, and waking up to the fresh scent of the forest was unforgettable. The kitchen is well equipped, and supermarkets are just a 15-minute drive away. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh local products and delicious coffee. The venue is very family-friendly, and there are plenty of activities nearby, from hiking to swimming in the natural pool.

Arriving with a lot of luggage is a challenge, as the car parking is far away and you need to carry the luggage along stairs and a narrow path. It would have been great if someone from the hotel could have assisted. I had requested some gluten-free / lactose-free options for breakfast in advance, however I think the hotel simply forgot. Hence it was difficult for two family members to find breakfast options.

Absolutely gorgeous! Loved all the hand made decorations in each building made by teaching artists. The view is spectacularly awe inspiring. The food in the cafe was wonderful. The staff very friendly and accommodating. The creative atmosphere is fostered carefully and quite palpable. The appointments with thick fluffy towels, crisp luxurious sheets are a nice juxtaposition to the rustic buildings. Our terrace was an amazing place to relax, eat and soak up the incredible Mountain View. It was fun to meet the international students attending a ceramics workshop.

When we arrived, we parked in the car park and made our way down & up to the reception. The staff informed us that they had upgraded our room! Which was a massive surprise and we were very grateful. Communication on booking’s chat was easy and we were able to organise an arrival basket which was fantastic cheese & wine. The area itself is so beautiful. We went during a particularly cold time, but felt comfortable with all of the room heating. The surrounding walks are well marked, and the fresh water stream was refreshing and delicious. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was delightful.

Very unique experience. Village has so much charachter. Cafe provided some simple food items like soup, really nice bread and you also some beverages like beer. Fireplace in room was nice. Access to trail system connecting villages. Short distances by car to neighbouring villages ie. Candal 10 min.

Our room was a little dingy, a room with a patio would have been nice. Spent first night fighting to keep a fire going with the too big logs that were provided. They did bring me kindling when I asked.

Well what can I say. The village is wonderful. Such a unique experience to stay there. I stayed in Casa do Sol and it was perfect. Loved having the upstairs balcony. Had everything you needed for self catering but they do have a lovely cafe and Carole and Lily were so friendly. They were the two staff I saw every day I was there but everyone was so friendly. Breakfast was perfect every morning and Lily made the most amazing cakes each day I was there. The is also a small, gallery/shop (albeit quite limited) so if like me you used public transport to get there you do need to pick up provisions before you get there. Easy enough to do by public transport (I came from Porto so train, bus and taxi) so don't let not having a car put you off going!! The staff are happy to call the taxi company to arrange pick up as unless you speak Portuguese it can be a bit tricky to get a taxi. I was lucky enough to do the minature schist house building course with Rita and it was a perfect way to end my holiday .. and the house survived the trip back in my suitcase. We had the most delightful stay! The property is beautifully maintained, blending rustic charm with modern comforts, and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The rooms were cozy, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, ensuring we had a comfortable and restful stay. We especially loved waking up to the soft sounds of nature and enjoying breakfast on the terrace, and dipping in the cold pool. we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic Portuguese village experience!

A beautiful little cosy place in the mountains, perfect place to get away from it all. Staff were really friendly. Breakfasts fantastic with lots of choice. We managed to get to see some deer when hiking in the area and a little fox came visiting in the evening.

Nothing really. We had a problem with the oven in our house but this wasn’t a big problem because the staff said that we could use their facilities in the cafe.

The restoration of the village has been beautifully and thoughtfully conducted. It was a surprise to us just how good the facilities were, from the café, traditional meals served to your residence and great quality local arts and crafts. The staff are especially helpful and attentive, which made our stay all the more memorable. Highly recommended!

Not a criticism at all of the village, rather the reality that is the incredible location and the road up to the village. Quite steep and winding for a nervous driver!

Absolutely everything! The most magical place that we've been to in Portugal. And we have been across all country. This is definitely one of the best stays we had so far. Very unique experience. Loved every single detail about it. So much attention to detail! I can write a book about this fairytale experience:) Would recommend with all my heart!

Nothing. Everything was perfect!

The natural beauty and loving, masterful restoration of a piece of Portuguese history in a way that’s meaningful for the current generations. Beyond this, the accommodation was comfortable, inviting rest and reflection. Staff were present but unobtrusive and genuinely loved meeting guests and sharing knowledge about the property, history, and current artists/workshops.

There was nothing we didn’t like. For us, it was a little slice of heaven on earth.
