Clean, comfortable and accommodating. The kettle and coffee machine as well as the mini fridge were wonderful to have. Check-in was easy. We would imagine that the house might be a little noisier than we heard - noise does travel, however, the other guests staying there were very considerate as well. Note that there is no breakfast at the accommodation and the associated hotel did not serve any either on the date we were there. But we knew beforehand, so we were fine. In winter, restaurant services are limited as well. Know that if you’re not used to driving snowy and icy winter roads, access to Seydisfjördur might be very adventurous for you in wintertime. We enjoyed our stay in this very quiet town! Would recommend.

During our Icelandic journey, we had the pleasure of staying at Við Lónið Guesthouse in Seyðisfjörður, a town renowned for its rich history and picturesque landscapes. The guesthouse, housed in a building constructed in 1907 and imported from Norway, exudes historical charm, having previously served as a clothing and convenience store, art studio, and café. Our room was a testament to Scandinavian minimalist design, featuring original wood furnishings that added warmth and authenticity. The private bathroom was well-appointed with a walk-in shower and complimentary toiletries. The highlight was the balcony, offering breathtaking views of the fjord and surrounding mountains, providing a serene backdrop to our stay. The guesthouse’s central location proved advantageous, with Seyðisfjörður Harbour and the iconic Blue Church just a short stroll away, making it an excellent base for exploring local attractions. The self-check-in process was seamless, allowing us to settle in without delay. Adding to the charm of our stay was a local cat that seemed to own the street. This regal feline often caught the attention of tourists, adding a unique and endearing touch to our experience.
During our stay at Við Lónið Guesthouse, we encountered a few minor inconveniences. The town’s popularity with cruise ship passengers created a bustling atmosphere, making dining slightly challenging due to crowded restaurants. However, this could have been mitigated by making reservations in advance. Additionally, the guesthouse does not offer breakfast, necessitating a morning venture to nearby cafés—a minor inconvenience given the quality of local establishments. Despite the central location, our room remained quiet, allowing for a restful night’s sleep.

The check in process was easy. The keys were in an envelop with my name on it. I had questions prior to my arrival and the host was very responsive over text. I did not interact with a staff member on the property. I didn't find any issues with this, but just wanted to point that out. We traveled by car and parking was easy. The location of the property is perfect and our room had a view of the lake. The room was modern and clean.
Our room was on the first floor and we had the lake view which was wonderful. But, there were a lot of people walking the path around the lake, so sometimes privacy and noise was an issue. Plus, we were there in the summer, so sightseeing hours went well into the evening.

Did not realize I had booked a place literally on the Rainbow street in Seydisfjordur. Windows open right onto the street as one would expect but I usually like to be out of the way. BEAUTIFUL room, huge, immaculate with thoughtful extras. Would stay here again! The town itself is a treasure and copes with the tourists with grace and humor. Even the grocery store staff. Dramatic drive in and out of town.
Street noise in our particular room. Of course it was an American family out and about and loud. [We are American] We were exhausted that night so it did not matter.

Beautiful restored building, elegantly furnished in Scandinavian minimalist style. Our room overlooked the rainbow street where restaurants/pubs are clustered; the other side of the building faces the lagoon. All rooms have views. Ours was equipped with a small refrigerator, coffee maker, and tea kettle. Bed and bedding were excellent! Beautiful bathroom! An absolutely perfect building and space in one of the most charming and picturesque towns in Iceland! Breakfast is not provided but options exist - one needs to plan. There is a nice grocery a block away. The Food Coop/gas station offers breakfast after 9am. The only staff person I encountered was the housekeeper who was very pleasant and helpful. Self-checkin with keys left out.
Lack of contact with an owner or manager. Cruise ships do tend to inundate the town when they arrive.

Ask for a balcony room with a view - it was beautiful, gave us some outside seating and fresh air in the room. The decor is great, room was large, great bed, good shower. Easy check-in, parking directly across the street, close to restaurants.
Needs more hooks for wet bathing suits (still damp from the baths we visited the day before we arrived), towels, damp clothing, toiletries bags. Also, coffee mugs without handles are a bad idea. And we were grateful for the wineglasses, but there were no drinking glasses that fit under the sink faucet. Awkward.

Beautiful room in a perfect location, right on the main street. You get a Milka chocolate bar and some free coffee capsules. There are three restaurants within walking distance.
Felt a bit too expensive (the most expensive hotel we stayed at in our trip) for what you get. Although the room was beautiful, there is no breakfast or kitchen, and only a few restaurants in the area, of which most of them were pricy. There aren't many breakfast options in the area, especially on a Sunday (there's a hotel buffet nearby which is pretty expensive).

Self check in was a breeze with the keys conveniently left in envelopes with each quests name. The rooms facing the water have beautiful little balconies with chairs and you can even see the lovely waterfall. The hotel is located right on the rainbow street and everything is easily walkable. This is truly the prettiest town in east Iceland and Vid Lonid Guesthouse is a wonderful place to rest yourself. We are sorry we only stayed one night.

Seydisfjordur is a small town so it is easy to get around. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom is very narrow. Parking was not an issue (over the road) and the keys were ready for us on arrival. Supermarket closes at 6pm so be organised! There were quite a few options where to eat dinner in town.
We had a ground floor unit facing the street, not the water, and the pale blue church is at the end of the street so everyone stood outside our room taking photos. Not very private at all. Had to keep the blinds closed our whole stay.

Loved the location, clean rooms, comfortable bed and nice shower and a hard to beat view!
It was no problem for us, but if you have mobility issues you might want to request a ground floor room. Stairs could be a little tricky to navigate and there is no staff, at least we did not see anyone, to help you. Please note that to reach the front door you need to go up stairs as well.
